and he was born in 1963. So he was 8 in 1971.

Unbelievable! I saw Jimmy perform in the mid-70s at Madison Square Garden. I shook his white-gloved hand. He was a little hottie a few years later when he appeared in ADVENTURES OF THE GREAT BRAIN.

@asianfanofdonny It's interesting, too, the physical parallel - in the 70s - between the Osmond brothers and the Brady boys. Both Jimmy and "Bobby" were the youngest, with freckles and sandy hair. The older siblings were taller, with darker hair. I have to wonder if "The Brady Bunch" producers had the Osmonds in mind when they did final casting. Anyhow, I enjoyed seeing Jimmy in THE GREAT BRAIN back in the 80s, although, if memory serves me correctly, he was noticeably heavy at the time.

@asianfanofdonny Yes, I've watched reruns of "The Brady Bunch" and "The Partridge Family" since childhood. I had a crush on Bobby Brady in the later episodes! The Osmond brothers nver had a regular series, as I recall, but appeared on numerous specials. However, Donny and Marie had a poupular variety show in the 70s, and the older siblings were sometimes on that.

of those Donny shows. As for the Brady kids, I saw the movie "Brady Bunch" in 1994

which stars "Shelly Long" and "Gary Cole" as the father if I am not mistaken or remembered

correctly. It's very cute.

He sang better than most people his age, but he was definitely was not a very good singer. Listen to his adult voice, and you will hear he doesn't have much of a voice or singing talent. If not for the Osmond name, he'd be doing kareoke.

Jimmy's mentioned in interviews that he had to learn the songs phonetically. Doubtful that he really knows the entire translation of the song.

(Sidenote: Marie did songs in Swedish when she was little. Be cool to hear those too.)

I agree, when Jimmy was young, perhaps it's true that he didn't fully understand Japanese.

But I believe he has to know quite some Japanese by the time he became a teenager for him to have the passion to keep singing in Japanese.

We can get a translation of the lyrics. But there is no way to convert this to an English song unless Jimmy re-records in English. But then as a grown man, his voice today would not sound the same as when he was 8 when he recorded this song.

This Japanese version is quite nice too.

yeh its impressive but i doubt he actually know what it means...he probably found out after or something, he was proabably told the pronounciation and he remembered it. If he actually knew what it meant i would imagine he would of sung it in english aswell.
