tanknutdave, do you know why the ontos has that bar-bogie on the roadwheels? It'd seem that linking all four roadwheels would make a horrible ride over terrain at speed. I would think at first glance it'd be to prevent track shedding (though that wasn't as common by the 50s as like in the 30s), but the rigidity of the suspension would stress the tracks wouldn't it?
@redreaper2020 - iv seen similar things on trucks - it in effect locks the differential therefore prevents all the power being lost if one of the drive wheels starts to spin in mud.
Never seen it on a tracked vehicle before but I guess the Ontos was quite light

@shumble32 huh? What do you mean?
If I recall, the Ontos used braked differential steering with a locking cross-shaft like the M-113...but that's all internal.
