I completely agree with Stephen Fry's observation about obsessive and vicious youtube commentators. However, having said that, I am very pleasantly surprised by the immense fan base that stephen fry has, as is apparent by youtube videos of him. I have rarely seen so many good things, and good things in larger proportions being said about a celebrity. Stephen Fry is sure to not read them, but I am sure he would be surprised at the quantity and nature of good things said about him.
Stephen Fry, I must say. You are the most attractive, beautiful man i've ever encountered. Such an incredibly gifted mind you have. I must stop watching videos of you for fear of infatuation.
@mefalise Why wouldn't he? ;-) He was the second man in England getting a mac computer. He's crazy about data technology and a great supporter of social networking. He usually carries all the newest cell phone models with him. :-)
I feel rather sad that Stephen don't look at the comments section just because of trolls. =/ I know that i can get influensed by some peoples remarks on things.. But that is only because i care deeply about.. well, i guess the world in general. The truly wonderful people must be given a chans to deflect the trolls (in lack of a better word) and keep a good attitude towards learning and sharing greatness... This is just my two cents, or what's the saying.. Sorry about my English, *peace*
I agree with Fry`s observation on the average youtube comment page, but I must say I do not agree with his way of dealing with it. I think its important to read and aswer comments, as long as you do it in a kind and appropriate manner. By never reading or answering comments you`re just hiding from the problem. When I see a troll I will either ignore him/her, or I will debate/have a conversation with the troll in a kind and gentle manner. Dont show any anger and the troll will lose interest.
Comments are often very interesting to read...it's not all hate or negativism. It's not SEE ME SEE ME...if someone comment on my comment I'm happy to reply kindly without hiding what I believe, even if my opinion may OFFEND I do not try to - it is just an opinion. Trolling is writing nonsensical stuff that is incoherent and impolite. My comments are supportive, and I just like to write, writing in itself is fun. Not everyone writes books. One could say what Fray says about authors n'est ce pas?
i write comments, but i try to be positive and say good things. because positive responses are good for the uploader, i mean they wouldnt post a video if they didnt want to know what people thought
How about instead of not posting, we turn into anti-trolls? The more polite, thoughtful and tolerate posts there are - or at least not violently psychotic - the less the trolls will matter!
Trolls live under bridges. Well, apres notre, la deluge!
I disagree regarding the comment thing comment sections can be used as he said but it can also be a wonderful place where people exchange ideas, jokes, new thoughts and different perspectives on the subject matter seeing it in a new light understanding it better....
I sometimes wish I was gay so I could have a chance with Stephen Fry. But what the fuck could you say to impress him? He knows everything. It would be so intimidating. I'd just sit listening to him with my mouth open. Hehe ;-D. No innuendos please.
He is so amazingly inspiring, everytime I hear him speak I just want to learn and learn and learn, in the hope of one day coming near to being as wise as he is.
It makes me a bit sad that Stephen would so want to avoid the troll comments that he might not see some of the really good ones, for example so many of those about him on videos that feature him.
his perception of money and charity is so twisted because of his circumstance, I can't hope to relate to it. I shaln't apologise if having an opinion makes me a troll..
Kindness is so very rare these days. I can honestly say I only know about 4 genuinely kind people. Actually, come to think of it, I'm pretty lucky I know this many.
maybe someday people will see changes in the way of commenting in comments in ages and era's of comments on the web (like how people devide history in era's and ages)
@hfkry I'm sure he was talking about trolling and comments with no real value but to draw attention and not the usual kind of comment you see below Fry's videos ;)
