  • @mistersnaredrum lol! NEW COKE. Thats funny. My dad used to work for Coke, and told me the great debacle of 'New Coke'

  • Now at 3:26 you are making that guitar shout. I do not know too much about this ad-on equipment; you must be a master tech to even operate this small Klon. Whatever settings, it shows in the melodious playing coming forth at 3:26. I am wondering, you that have all kinds of pedals with magnificent sounds; does this little thing have a mimic within these other pedals and ad-ons?? Have no idea how to voice my comments on this.<-- Forgive a no-guitar player BUT a guitar lover. Great sounds. :).

  • It sounds good, but it cannot possibly be worth the prices I see attached to them.

  • And you KNOW what we do with toaster aboard the Galactica!

Now put that thing out the airlock.

  • 0:05

    am...em...ah...pffff

  • The reverse-engineered schematic for this thing reveals it to be a sloppy design around a pair of TL072 op-amp chips. Distortion is a pair of back-to-back germanium diodes. The biasing of the op-amps is a wack job. The first one uses a +12V/GND supply with a 6V ref voltage generated by the cheapest trick in the book. The second is +24V/-12V from a charge pump IC, again with the wacky ref voltage. You can get the parts for under around $30 in hobbyist quantities. That little girl is smart!

  • i would sure be playing the blues if I ever payed that much ca$h for a pedal...sounds nice but... I have pedals a FET boost pedal that sounds nice...The Harmonics on the Klon Distortion side do sound awesome though, just the right amount of even harmonics

  • WAY over rated pedal. id rather have a tube peamp anyday....

  • Nice, smooth and warm, but not worth the kind of money they get for these. Your daughter's instincts were not that far off.

  • Thanks for this demo. Klon having been around for many, many years, I have never heard one until now. Not worth the dough that players are laying out for it. Timmy will do just fine, thank you.

  • haha @ top gear

  • Don't B a sucker people, nice pedal but not worth the BIG BUCKS.

  • I hated the Klon as an overdrive, but as a boost it was nice. When people all lost their minds I sold mine (no regrets) for 1k and purchased a KOKO boost. The KOKO boost can do everything the Klon did and more in the boost department. You should try one of these Burgerman.

  • Excellent presentation!

  • Jennifer Allman Brothers!! hahaha

  • kawaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!

  • Hey guys, any idea where I could find a Klon???

  • @lindsayell There is one on Ebay right now @ $913.00 with almost five day's still to go.I wish it was me selling it as a thousand bucks sounds good right now...

  • WOW !!!!!!

  • I just bought that pedal, actually no I traded something with this. Your daughter is funny and very cute.

  • man, this pedal is the new 'new coke'. causing all sorts of bother at the moment, which is odd as it's been out for a while, hasn't it? sounds nice, but i'm still unsure if it's worth ALL the hype.

the clean boost is lovely though.

  • @mistersnaredrum Haha. While I don't condone its procurement for a second, I think you'll find that coke is actually cheaper and far easier to get than a Klon. They'll both give you a boost, though: one for about 20 minutes, the other forever. I'll take the latter, thanks. :)

  • @Burgerman666 i meant coca cola!

  • @mistersnaredrum Heheh. Sorry!! Same applies though! Haha. Man, my guilty past..

  • @Burgerman666 indeed... learned a lot about burgerman today!

love your vids, man. tell sadie i agree with her about the klon

  • @Burgerman666

    haha that cracked me up!

  • @Burgerman666 Now how can I trust your demos? You drugged out hippie! :)

  • @Burgerman666 you're a legend, dude.

  • you always have the coolest stuuf

  • @lookingatcrap Nah. Just borrowed that one. Could never afford it. Wouldn't mind though!

  • i have a 1spot 9v adapter and how come it only works with one pedal...i thought its supposed to connect pedals together because when i try and connect my OD pedal and my Wah, which ever one its not connected to doesnt work

  • who really "needs" pedals when you got chops like this.

Your playing outweighs any pedal's tone full value.

Your demos are awesome, and i get a sense of what they can do.......and i'm a pedal noob, so i usually don't know tit from tat.

i will be getting one pedal in part to your demo of it when i can afford to do so, and am looking forward to it.

keep up the stellar work !!!

  • is the 1 spot 9v adapter reliable? it wont ruin a boss stombox or dunlop pedal will it?

  • I doubt it would even fit into those pedal brands unless we're talking about very old examples. It's an old-school plug. :)

  • This is really funny. When you consider what a just the "run-of-the-mill" guitar costs, and then complain about the cost of a Klon. It's the ONLY overdrive made that DOESN'T color or compress your sound at ANY volume. (which, if you read the directions, tells you that it's at it's best

when your TUBE amp is turned up to the

    "just breaking up" level.

I've had them all, and this pedal has NO competition. Period!

  • What is it that is 'really funny' to you? And it's not 'the ONLY overdrive made the DOESN'T color or compress your sound at ANY volume.' Ever heard of a Tim?

  • sounds pretty good!!! and reminds a bit to a TS-9 but i dont know...have u ever tried a Landgraff dynamic overdrive??? is it better than a KLON? whats your opinion? thx

  • Nope, I've never been able to afford a Klon OR a Landgraff. This stuff just shows up on my doorstep with a 'please help' not attached and then they come and take it away again! Heheh. That's a bit rough, isn't it? I wouldn't mind checking out a Landy though. I believe they're pretty good.

  • o well its ok thx for answering back

  • the Klon is a GREAT pedal, but it really does shine at GIGS more than in demos. it's usually a pretty subtle pedal at low volume, but when you are at the gig cranked up, it really sounds great. sure is expensive though, and MANY other pedals that are much cheaper will get you very close.....

  • This is the only pedal that I don't mind it not being true bypass. The buffer makes your tone amazing. It's hard do describe but I can't live without it in my chain anymore.

  • it does look like a toaster

    but a very beautiful toaster

and one that sounds pretty good

    seen them for $1000AU

dont think my gear - or my bank account - can justify this

i bet it makes some lovely raisin toast though

    thanks for the vid Brett

  • Did you just get that? Mine should be arriving any day now. Too bad I won't be able to play it due to my recent injury. About 12-14 weeks to get one, but it will be worth it.

    Great demos as always!

  • Nah, it's not mine unfortunately. A dealer friend loaned it to me for the shoot. The Klon is THE Great pedal. I'd purchase one if I could afford it, but, like you, I've had an injury and it has cost me dearly. Maybe next year. Especially as it doubles as a toaster! Heheh. Congrats on your new acquisition and I hope, sincerely, that you recover from your injury fully and quickly. Cheers, BK.

  • Mate, Is it worth it?..tough call. I guess I wanted to point out that it's no more expensive than quite a few other boutique offerings (if we're talking list prices rather than eBay sillyness!).

Re the live thing. Funny thing for a tone-junkie to say but the Klon is a pedal I love for where it places my sound in a live mix rather than its isolated tone if that makes any sense at all?

You can possibly hear what I mean on that live Jaycos clip's solo. Little compression but present and "big".

  • Brett as you know I've had a Klon for a long time as such I'll make a couple of comments.

    1) It's no more expensive than MP, BJF & IMO it's less of a rip off than many slightly tweaked TS clones.

    2) The Klon loses every home shoot-out I conduct. In isolation it can sound nasally but somehow live it does something for my solos nothing else can seem to do in a live mix scenario.

    3) I love it as a boost into everything, but, into British voiced amps not so much with the gain above 10 o'clock.

  • There you go then folks. It's better in the field than in the stable. I must admit that I haven't had the privilege of trying one in the field yet, only in the stable. Realfi is a man to be trusted though, so I have no doubt that he's spot on in his assessment and that every cent is well spent. Now, if I just had that many spare cents...

  • "It's better in the field than in the stable."

lol, brilliant play on words! :D

  • it's kind of rough to pay much money for such a desired sound by many. your demo was very good in letting my ears quickly enjoy it's smooth sounding qualities. you're wonderful playing also does wonders with that pedal.

    peace,

    rich
