@TaliaMacGregor its actually really easy :) Are you a dancer? Do you know what a hitch kick is? Its kinda like a hitch kick to the side and you just fall! You have to trust yourself and come to realize...it doesnt hurt! It just looks like it :)

She does dance, tricks are part of dancing. That's the style of jazz dances, especially in CA. It's not going to change, so commenting that on pretty much every dance YDC posts 100 times is getting repetitive. I may agree that there's lots of turns (maybe even a few too many for my taste in this particular dance) but I see where the choreographer thought "Hey, you can really turn well so I'm going to emphasize that." Ariana is wonderful, such a joy to watch:) I enjoyed it.

omg those turns are spot on! great control...the only "negative" is the fact that a 10 year old is dancing to a song about a woman who is proud to be just that - a woman. But she did great so I won't knock it...great job!

The obsession with tricks has gone too far IMO, last time I checked these "tricks" i.e. leaps turns & kicks were all actually very hard technical moves, yet people talk like they're not dance and anyone can do them - well, they can't. This is competition dancing, to an extent yes it is about doing the hardest things you can do - these kids are amazing so why not? What is the point of doing what's obviously meant to be a fun jazz dance such as this if you're not going to show off what you've got?

I have no problem with trick heavy dances. But this "dance" was nothing but tricks, I saw no dance skill here, it was almost like a cheer leading routine. Shame on the choreographer for not taking full advantage of a clearly talented young girl.

You guys have to remember that the dancers do not Choreograph the dances. So it's what they are told to wear in some cases and how the dance is supossed to be done, or get out. So in cases like to much turning, look at the how great the turns are and worry less about how much there are.

You can tell Ariana's improved a lot since switching to MDP through her groups/duets but her solos still look like the ones she did at the Element... pretty cookie cutter and more tricks than dancing. I still think she's amazing though.

well from what i saw, speaking as a 15 year dancer having the same problem, her toes weren't always pointed fully and that's alot more noticeable thatn you'd think. also, she's a bit sloppy with some of here movements.
