at won't point he plays that bit where he goes all the way up the high e string, that would later become the last part that fades out on the studio version of mr crowely
Amazing how you can hear little pieces of what would later become both Dee and Goodbye to Romance mixed into this solo...he obviously had specific musical ideas floating around in his head all of the time....hard to imagine what he could be playing today...
@jarjarstudios99 dude know one cares whos petter . personally rhoads is my inspiration but halen is very very talented as well. there is no better once your pro . you don't have to be ignorant about it
there actually has been some thoughts about that randy should be as good, or even better than eddie van halen. personally i think randy and eddie are the best guitarist there ever lived
This vid was done late 70s so this shows that Eddie wasn't the only one doing tapping, dimebag was influence by ramdy threes footage to prove it, Randy was like no other, before the ozzy concert in LA I went to visit randy's grave to pay some respect RIP
@lion4e at 1:03 its a sped-up very brief version of the Lone Ranger Opening theme from the old tv show. It's also adapted from a classical song called the William Tell Overture by Rossini.
I feel i randy was playing today, he would not use a pick. he would be using every finger, and knuckle to slap the piss out of that les paul. ever so gently.
@LittleAngus52 Well, yeah cuz EVH is almost an old man now and probably haven't really been practising for some time. Btw, Angus isn't bad, but you can't compare him to EVH, Randy or Yngwie etc...
I've read interviews with Randy where he felt he hadn't developed his style yet. He felt he was copying Van Halen. I don't see that at all. To me, there's no comparison. Why Randy felt that way is beyond me. Randy's style was complete; a great mixture of modal playing with bluesy swagger. Monster riifs with perfectly constructed solos. I have nothing but great respect for the man. It's tragic he trusted some idiot with a supposed pilot's license.
@guitarslinger32269 i think he was influenced by evh but listening to rhoad's playing hes more influenced by classical music and eddie listened to more blues stuff in my opinoin hes evh that sweep picks
@guitarslinger32269 I dnt think Van Halen can't step close to Randy Rhoads..Van Halen its good and he can be fast and all that stuff..but when I listen Randy Rhoads music its like im going in a super trip to the sky, he got to much soul on him..van halen plays a lot of fast riffs,Randy plays so good that you can really get inside and feel his music in another level
@guitarslinger32269 He felt he was copying Van Halen a lot in the spotlight solo, which I guess you can hear. He had to play a lot of that stuff because that's what the fans wanted, unfortunately.
@guitarslinger32269 there are myriad places whereby randy clearly copies van halen. 1:00 in the live solo--same chords as eruption. his hammer-ons are from VH, and they aren't as good. in addition, Ed is a trained classical musician who who play beethoven and mozart in concert during his solos. randy also uses effects in a great way as did Ed. the on-and-off knob in crazy train? pure VH from VH1..you really got me. i love randy to death, but he did copy Ed/was influenced by Ed.
i dont know, its really hard to compare guitarists. but i think buckethead is better cause he can play multiple instruments and shred on the guitar and make it sound like a banjo. thats nothing against randy, though, cause he was one of the first really good shredders
randy rhoads rocks im a rocker rapper punker poper type of gurl!!!! but geshh ur awesome i love metal rock and electric and abunch of other stuff but he rocks but i love ozzy ozbourne ! i ♥ozzy r.i.p randy we love ya
Randy Rhoads is the best because not only his solos were great but no matter how fast he was playing his solos were still music. Nowadays guitar players are just playing fast. But their music sucks.

Yes thats from a QR show. This can also be heard on "The Randy Rhoads Years", where they mixed it with another recording for the track "Laughing Gas".
