  • This is so full of lies, can't believe how ignorant some people are and things they believe when they have never seen 1st hand for themselves.

  • fearmongering isn't the solution why don't you yourself use less oil. better yet come to alberta and see for yourself. if we get more money from tourism then we rely less on the oilsands

  • Come enjoy a tour of the mine and a ride in a haul truck.

    That's Alberta romance!

  • The oilsands were discovered in the early 1900's. Pools of oil dotted the surface amongst rivers, lakes and forest.

God made the oil sands not man.

If man or Albertans had accidentaly dumped a trillion barrels of oil then greenpeace would be yelling "CLEAN UP YOUR MESS"

But Albertans didn't spill the oil, we are only trying to clean up what God left for us.

Greenpeace is as 2 faced as they come, Since we didn't spill the oil, they want us to "DON'T CLEAN IT UP"

    THESE PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS

  • Get off your plastic computer, quit heating your house, don't drive, or ride a bike... Rubber & Grease... yes, live like a fucking caveman... but.. hey don't burn trees either.

Complaining is Not a solution. Try thinking of an alturnative... or just shut up.

  • @manchen57 cool comment

  • Weak! Really weak.

  • greenpeace get out

  • Hogwash nonsense propaganda.

  • @MountThor Your Face is Hogwash !!

  • Im reforesting the oil sands for the second time this summer using 14 species of shrubs and seven species of trees. The US will take any chance it can get to turn attention to a Canadian environmental issue. Wildlife does grow in the sands and they can be reclaimed.

  • Yup, working hard to stop production to help their comrades in China rule the world. No one gets it, the gay rights thing, the wars bleeding us out, the attacks on anyone questioning the nerd computer empire. People got no jobs while pets get protesters rant for them.Even salt will be illegal at this rate like in Demolition man!

  • hahahaahahahha!

  • Green peace shut up or i will tar your face! >: /

  • This isn't the truth. The oilsands have been there for millions of years, guess what... they have always looked desolate. nothing grows in oil saturated sand. every mining industry has tailing ponds. they are temparay here. Now show the amazing reclaimation of land that has been done after the sands have been processed. forests and wildlife can now live where it was never possiable over millions of years. I dont know what the agenda is here is but its very onesided and dishonest.

  • don't you think you would have known that canada has a dessert the size of florida...of course shit grows in the sands...they are under part of the boreal forest you dumb fuck

  • What dessert are you talking about? and try to grow vegitation in sand or earth that is saturated in oil. it wont grow. the oil sands are above ground they reach the surface, which is why it looks so baren, the industry did not remove the forest to get the oil.

  • Well I've been contracted by Nexxon, Coneco Phillips, StatOil Hydro, Suncor, and Syncrude...all in the fort mcmurray area. Using SAGD some companies push steam into the ground which forces the oil sand into pipes. They clear 1 hectare pads for that...but for surface mining of oilsand they clear the forest with cutting or burning and store the topsoil for when they're finished. They do the same for tailings ponds.

  • So true , so sarcastic--I am ashamed at how stupid we have been in Alberta, but like most other places money and certain big business small minded greedy ignoramuses rule and get paid very well. Thank God and Greenpeace that someone is seeing the truth. Yayy Greenpeace!!!!

  • Oh boo hoo Alberta, nobody wants to see the landscape turned into a desolate moonscape alright. And Canada definitely doesn't want the effects of your "TOXIC" oil sands legacy. For all you people working in the oil sands, you get to tell your kids and their kids how you helped destroy our beautiful country, wow, you must be so proud.

  • THIS IS SO IRONIC. HA! HA! HA!

  • Is this the best you can do? You guys have lots of money (from pensioners, the ignorant, granola munchers, pot-heads, Sheeple, and so on...) can't you at least hire a competant PR firm? Why don't you protest something that affects us all, like over-population? I see a rising tide of liberal, do-gooding, enviro-wackos'and the imbecilic that feed them. If you started a cull on them I'd gladly donate to the cause....

  • the tar sands effects us all.

    dont you listen?

    and what are you doing

  • It seems satire is lost on far more people than I would have thought. Making fun of farmers? Where in this video do you see that?

  • OILSANDS ARE SOMETHING THE ENTIRE PLANET SHOULD BE CONCERNED.....WE ARE ALL CONNECTED.

    Saskatchewan indian photographing sky spirits

  • Strikes to the heart of the matter with a tourist video and a surprise ending to finish it of. Love it. Good work. Use of nat. gas, pollution of ponds and release of greenhouse gases not accounted for in rush to get the ill-thought our project. Money to Big Oil in USA and not to Canada. We get the mess.

  • ide like to state that greenpeace and peta are the same deal the same group as well there dissing alberta and the province witch we grew up in and was raised in and prarie farmers if they are makeing fun of farmers and alberta the greenpeace can pack there bags and leave alberta for good

  • Greenpeace.... is realy turning into a joke. When they have to resort to false videos like this just loses them support. I have lived in Fort McMurray for 38 years, and it is nothing like this crap. Be careful biting the hand that feeds you!

  • Uhhh...I'm not speaking for the tourism industry, but a rational person would surmise that the ALBERTA tourism industry isn't threatened by what's going on in THE WASTELANDS OF FT MACMURRAY.

Greenpeace has purposely painted a false impression of what's going on in all of Alberta. That's just wrong.

I'd have more support for them if they aired a video showing what they were really DOING about this - besides creating videos in their office intended to advance their cause on the backs of others.

  • I'am an Albertan, and the blatent disregard for the enviornment in the face of oil profits within this province is embarressing. It is a beautiful place to live and that is becoming increasingly compromised for the sake of big business. Although this video displays a tone of parody, at the same time it highlights a big problem that is no longer just in the hands of canadians, being as the oilsands pose one of the globes biggest enviornmental problems and deseveres attention on the worlds stage.

  • Its really easy to take a stand against something you can't change. What have you got to lose? But by doing so anyways, you get to use the David and Goliath approach and build sentiment amongst people without doing much more than complaining about it.

Its pretty obvious you haven't accounted for the affect you might have on one of Alberta's major economic drivers (tourism). Or I wonder if you even care as long as you get your message out there. That's selfish and self-centered.

  • perhaps, but why is the Tourism and Hospitality industry not more vocal in demanding more acountability, to protect the resources it relies on to attract tourists to this province?

Greenpeace didn't cause the damage... it has already been done, and the government and oil industry are culpable.

If this satire helps create dialogue that's a positive thing
