To you-know-who: I don't blame you for getting pissed off at the moronic comment aimed at you on this thread, but I had to remove both the original (indefensibly pissy) comment & your (justified but explosively distasteful) reply. There's enough such exchanges on the intertubes to last us all a lifetime.
Again, I understand why you blew your top, but a Gouldian space is not the place. Thanks for taking enough of an interest to share your earlier comments.
@erp65 its great, i appreciate all this even more than the next fan, because i was born in Richmond Hill, which is a part of Toronto close to North York, I can picture what Gould is talking about, what he means, the places, , sometimes he talks to fast that i need to listen to parts a few times of absorb what is being said
@witchcraftlord - Yes, Gould gets on a Gouldian roll, at times, and pulls a verbal 1955 Goldberg Variations with his speech. Makes a relistening to any Gould interview a necessity.
Please check out the full version of this documentary which I've also uploaded. Cheers, Ep
It sure will. I've watched it 3 times already. Didn't know some of those scenes from Hereafter came from here. Gould was paradoxical, indeed: fun and serious, unconventional and conservative.
Not someday. Tomorrow. Part 1/7 uploading as I type this. The rest will follow over the next very short while. I tried to pick sensible cut points but not all are ideal; it all cuts back together seamlessly.
Ha. Thanks for the background info, yuzu. You can absolutely see his terror in the film. Not only does he flinch repeatedly, but at the last KABOOM he crouches & then rushes off-camera. Priceless!

Someday, perhaps, we'll all get a chance to see the full 50-minute version. For now, this will have to do.

I remember reading about this Old Fort scene in Wonderous Strange.
They had promised him that they would not fire those guns and cannons. Gould was terrified and was worried about a possiblity of hearing loss.
I can truly appreciate his reaction knowing this:)

Yes -- a rare "biting" comment from the usually ebullient Gould.

Ain't it a hoot?
I'd love to hear what people's favorite quotes are. Gould is at his witty best.
