The Elder scrolls don't come up in the other games because most of them are kept secure by the empire. They also cause blindness, which increases in duration, each time you read from them to see the prophecies. So the Elder Scrolls are very important lore wise, just not so much in the actual games themselves. As for Alduin, he is not the aspect of Akatosh, but the first born of Akatosh' brood.
Hell, the player him/herself can be considered to read a scroll. You are reading the scroll, watching the events of the time unfold - And that's why each of our playthroughs are different, because what we see depends on the reader and the current time and state of mind. There are no set number of scrolls, just as there are no set number of players playing this game, making the scrolls more of a "meta" thing than an actual in-game item/Macguffin.
Well I wouldn't say the Elder Scrolls are unimportant, they are more like macguffins as they frame the plot and apparently foretell what will happen, but they are never really mentioned or featured in-game until Oblivion.
@W1llHD Does it make me a nerd if I have played TES since Morrowind launch, know shitloads about the lore and have played TES games over 1000hrs? Oh, yeah...
@Eedwart2007 I'm not talking about the people who play it, I love the game, I'm saying the people who are getting annoyed/correcting this video are nerds.
@Eedwart2007 That and it's used to read back into time to discover what actually happened when Alduin was banished in time to the future and how he was actually "defeated" in the past.
You are not the last of the Dovahkiin, The Elder Scrolls hold the universe itself within the few remaining scrolls, and lastly Alduin along with every other dragon, is Akatosh' children.
@XboxClassic Well because the Septim blood line is dragon(Since his son turns into one) and he also has the ability to see what others can't for he is the king the family can see the future so he knew that the prisoner is the one to save the day(if any of that made sense)
@Decapititus: Doesn't make me less right. True, they aren't significant in the rest of the games, but they are very important in Skyrim, making his statement false.
I never understand why some people insist on these sorts of arguments. The only reasons I can think of, is either ignorance or troll'ing. You know I'm right, so what's the point in this, exactly?
@KiyokoFaith But other than that, they played no real significance in the past games.
Other than the occasional mentioning, up until Skyrim, I can't remember any actual time where the player ever has to do something involving the Elder Scrolls.
Oh boy, these comments are filled with people who can't be bothered to read it seems. I went from Lore, to the ending of Bioshock, to the bioshock HISHE, to another ending of bioshock to an animated short about skyrim, and now I'm back at lore, man youtube is fucked up.
I thought the Elder Scrolls were prophecies of the events of each game, but no one in really listens to their warnings. You'd think after 5 huge events they would prepare at least.
The elder scrolls are important. In oblivion you use one to rewrite the history of the Thieves' Guild. In Skyrim one was used against Alduin (no spoilers) and you use one yourself to learn a shout.
@ObsidianKnight90 They're really important to the mythology of TES. Plus, if you try and read one in Skyrim it temporarily RENDERS YOU BLIND AS YOU SEE INTO THE FABRIC OF REALITY ITSELF. Awesome.
