I live in Canada. Apple has nothing for us Canadians. We dont have AT&T here in our country. at&t is the only server for the iphone. I feel Apple is forgetting some of their important markets.

very good point. i was actually looking for an online activation at first but went to the store and it only took about 5 minutes in total to transfer all my contacts and even activate a new account for my friend to use. so maybe the people doing all the "brain work" were lacking the requirements! lol

You must keep in mind however that while it may take 45 minutes per phone, they have the capability of activating 30 phones at a time - this would mean 9000/30 which would equal 300 minutes (assuming you are the last person in line)... Still a long time but much more realistic.

i think that the fault should have been with at t insistence on activation as it was subdizing a huge amount by any standard and when the servers went down problems just ran..so apple should not been the whole part of ur rant..of course anyone would have been pissed at sch stuff but just remain positive man..

The demand was gonna be huge and everyone knew this. if u really wanted to get it on the first day u should have got up early and camped out. i was waiting in line with 20 other people at 3am. Then around 4 or 5 am 150 more people showed up. i finally got my 16gb in black at 850am. the att store gave up on instore activations and sent every one home to set it up. with itunes crashing at home as well it was 730pm when i got my iphone to work.

Would like to point out that Apple's server took the load, but the AT&T/O2 servers didn't. Look at the errors. It is a service timeout through credit checks and AT&T contract info. This is You>Apple>AT&T+02>Apple>You. Apple didn't even really process much info.

However, I will agree that AT&T's relationship with Apple will be shattered by this.
