  • I hate the adds, so much!

  • Amaury Jr Show

  • Hey Robbie...! Are you still paying royalties to the Doobie Brothers for your eh... 'borrowing' of the chords/sound of "What A Fool Believes"? Just wondering...

  • Summer of '80:Hostages in Iran-Billy Beer-Teen Club-John Lennon and Steve McQueen are still alive- Cool new video game called Pac Man-Thumbs up if you remember..

  • play it all the time. aaaahhhhhhto to be young and light again and have her be the same. oh well I still got the song. 68 thanks

  • yep West Coast loves this, and invented it.

  • Cool was to post a song. Nice vid. Thanks for the inclusion. :-)

  • @thezanciro this song takes me back to virginia, no doubt. West coast doesn't have this kind of love for their music. :/

  • Gosto

  • I was 8 years old, but remember listening to this song in 1980. It sounds as wonderful as ever!!

  • Thtas song remembering my younger life back in Washington Dc and virginia back in the years of 89 and 90 s stilll away into the night...

  • la musica muy bonita pero la imagen de fondo no me llama la atencion

  • Takes me back to a magical time as a young teenager.

  • @imagineers0 I hear you! Me too!!

  • xianneh...always enjoy the music you love without regard to the era that it came from. I hate to admit losing touch with the new stuff, but very few I care for except for Harry Connick, Jr. and Michael Buble. Madonna brought one out a few years ago called "Crazy for You"...that one makes me shake!! Enjoy your life.

  • What a great song :)

  • TAKES ME BACK TO HAVIN TO TRANSFER TO AN ALL WHITE SCHOOL..MY SISTER AND HAD NO PROB ADJUSTIN BECAUSE WE WERE RAISED TO LOVE A PERSON FOR THEIR INSIDE NOT THEIR OUT...AFTER ALL SAID AND DONE BLACK FRIENDS CALLED US TRAITORS FOR LISTENIN TO THIS MUSIC....GREAT MUSIC IS COLORLESS...THEY WERE MORONS...LOL..I STILL GOT MY GREAT MEMORIES..

  • @thesonyakyleshow I have always listened to this kind of music...I love hearing instruments and people singing...you are right..great music is colorless and this was one of my favorites as a child..

  • @thesonyakyleshow I agree.great music is great music.im Latino but that doesnt mean all im going to listen to is Banda or salsa and spanish pop.its ALL good.great music is great music.

  • @thesonyakyleshow great friends are colorless too my friend, I relate to this statement totally.............racism only exists within racists.....................

  • Anyone every notice that the melody of this song sounds alot like the song "What A Fool Believes" by the Doobie Brothers? I guess if Michael McDonald helped write this song then he can use the melody for another. Don't really care. Still catchy as hell.

  • @11cloverfield Yes! I'm glad I'm not the only one who notices this! XD

  • I was a baby when this song came out... But I love it!!

  • Takes me back to the days as a kid on the farm, Stark County, Ohio, just north of Louisville on Ravenna Avenue. A different time...

  • This takes me back to High School in the back seat of my Camaro!

  • Reminds me of being a little kid.

  • Jimmy Fallon did a segment on his late night show with Robbie Dupree and The Roots titled Yacht Rock / Steal Away~ and it was so fantastic ..been looking all over the net for the video, and the only one I found was unavailable. ( so mad) I think they did it more than a year ago now. Was great ..they stepped up the beat just enough to make you want to rock out ...loved it !! :)

  • Robbie Dupree was not a one-hit wonder. How many of you remember HOT ROD HEARTS? HRH sounds just like STEAL AWAY also. Those are the only Top 20 hits Robert Dupuis(Dupree's birthname) ever had.

  • the pinnacle of Gay Rock! I love it!

  • @Lazonya777 ---lol, and I guess Gavin DeGraw, Maroon 5, Michael Buble and Daniel Powter make just the straightest music today, huh!!!???!!!!

  • @DestroyerofSouls666 Fair enough!lol

  • @Lazonya777 --Cool, man! Cheers to you wherever you are! :o)

  • This sounds a bit too similar to "What a Fool Believes"

  • WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES,written by Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins,is in fact, identical to STEAL AWAY. Every English-speaking soft rock music station on Earth plays those. the they are staples.

  • keep on dancing Balonet35, Let the music play!

  • Classic song, but what's up with the anime image?

  • I turned on the radio looking for real, good music and the voice told me to look up this gem on Youtube.

  • this song reminds me of Betty and the regret I will always have for throwing her overboard when she thought I was going to propose, I sped off to Bermuda for an endless summer of 1 night stands and the occasional martini. I found out she did make it to shore 3 days later, all the best to you Betty!

  • 1980 was a great year for music, thanks in part to this classic!

  • oh i love it love it love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Remember this on radio. Remember riding bikes @ Santa Monica Beach with my dad and sister always luved it.

  • ... well, my life is just as at-steak. So, in a way, you are doing it for me.

  • i dont really know but i hope every other country has good old songs like we do if they did there would be no anger iraq iran china north korea obama

  • Great song!!!

  • Beautiful blue-eyed soul right here... Props to Robbie Dupree!

  • "stealed away" from dobbie brothers!

  • I always thought Michael Fuckin' McDonald sung this!

  • What a fool belieeeeeeeeeeeeeves....

  • Wife and I are 74 and 65 and we still dance to this one regularly...such beautiful music. It will last forever...hope we do too...lol.

  • @Baloney35 I haven't heard this one since I was in the military, but it still sounds great....It's good to hear that someone can still dance with the same person decades later.

    Kudos..

  • @Baloney35 Thats AWESOME! Kids think we are (ATE UP) cause like you folks we dance when we hear great music like this. And we do not care where we are and who is watching. We dance like theres no tomorrow.

  • @Baloney35 You cradle snatcher!

  • @Baloney35

    I hope you do too...

  • @Baloney35 my Mother always said, better to be an older Mans' sweetheart, than you younger Man's Slave.

  • @Baloney35 I was 9 or 10 when this song was a radio hit. I loved it as a kid and still do now at 42. Absolutely timeless and next to nothing on the contemporary music scene even comes close to this level of raw talent and emotion.

  • @Baloney35 Well I envy you that you were adults during 1970s. I'm only 23 now and i really can't stand my friends when they diss 60s to 80s music.

  • @Baloney35: That's awesome, so nice to hear things like that:)

  • @Baloney35 do you wish your wife looked like the girl in the video? you wrinkly bastard

  • Why the silly cartoon pic?

  • i'm almost 21 and i love this song lol

  • excelente cancion, felicidades por la adicion

  • Great song. I just figured out who sang it. Thanks!

  • Robbie Dupree let Micahael McDonald buttphuck him in 1980 in an effort to steal his song "What A Fool Believes".Now thirty years later Robbies ass is still sore and he wears a colostomy bag but his career has been long finished.

  • @WiccansEatShit is that why this song's keyboards sound almost identical to what a fool believes? I was just thinking those 2 sound almost the same. wondered if Dupree was in doobie bros or what. I could find out but was just wondering to myself.

  • Robbie Dupree would have been excellent in the Doobie Brothers. Dupree should have joined when the DB's reformed in 1989 after being disbanded for seven years.

  • @WiccansEatShit i looked up the dates so now I see what you are saying. 1979 = doobies. 1980 = dupree. man... that took some balls to just rip off McDonald's keyboard lick and claim it as your own.

  • Michael McDonald's buddy Kenny Loggins co-wrote WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES. Loggins never recorded it himself unfortunately.

  • @arhuxtable Yes he did. It was on his Nightwatch album if I remember correctly.

  • Great job! I was born in 67, but a ton of these soft one hit wonders take me to my happy place. THANK YOU!

  • woohoo!

  • 19 women don't wanna steal away into the night; they worry about being caught. >_>

  • Dedicato a mia moglie Antobbbb: ti amooooooooooooooooo!! :DDD

  • If you ask a black woman to STEAL AWAY with you ,

    a she will be flattered

b she will go only if you have money enough to support her and her kids

c she will respond, " I do all my stealing on Thursdays..."

  • @teehonky Answer: A.

  • @JonasClark nah

  • This song came out of a period, America pushes a lot of soft rock love songs on the top. I compare this tune every time with Rupert Holmes' Escape (Pina Colada song) & Kenny Loggins' This is it. All of them &/ much more (for example the Doobie Brothers) got at the end of the 70's & beginning of the 80's fantastic westcoast rock songs, which aren't forgotten & became evergreens, although most of them are one hit wonders!

The Video was a great idea, good work. Thank you christian4You for posting!

  • Que buena canción.

  • 1980 ...July actually

very similar to what fool believes..VERY

  • ah... the good ol days..when they played "music"

wrote "music" and actually played instruments..

i'd give half my silver stash to go back to the 70's and do it all again.

    .oh yeah man....

  • @gary3340 I know, I don't like getting all mushy about the past but, I know what you mean man. I listen to this and I steal away for a minute. And it's good too.

  • @gary3340 Amen!

  • why this pic though??? I really don't get it

  • does anyone remember the infamous banstand episode that robbie played this on and what johnny rotten of the sex pistols came out and did. boy dick clark hated that. lol the good ole days...

  • ...hilarious, but it's also awesome.

  • This is such a blatant rip off of "What a Fool Believes" that its

  • What a great song, so nice so smooth. Classic!

  • why does robbie dupree have nowhere near how many views he should have

  • SOMEONE PLEASE TURN BACK TIME I NEED TO GO BACK TO A MUCH SIMPLER TIME MAN THE 70S I MISS MY PAPA AND MAMA SO MUCH :-(

  • @dukegawg123 you will see them in a higher realm duke, not this place. cheers

  • @dukegawg123 oh man what I wouldnt give to steal away and go back there..

  • Great vocals, how come no video?

  • @HelenRuth31 ,theres probally some footage of this guy lip synching on some cheezy 70's music show somewhere but no video, per say, Like what MTV started in the early 80's.

  • hatterick. anime. baby!!

  • this brings back memories...I really miss those days sometimes...

  • There's Anime in my old music.

    D:

  • PUDDEN PULLER

  • OH YA ! :-}

  • Room 155 at Millwood Hospital in Arlington Tx. Dec 2001. Doped up on Haldol. Jocie showed me the meaning of love and life. Of course I drank her away after I got out. Sober today, Still think of her everyday.

  • Great song but we can do without the silly animae stuff.Thats for kids or goofball 40 ish virgin guys that still live in thier parents basment. Just one mans opinion!!

  • Great song to melt away the stresses of the day... I was only 8, but remember my older brother playing this all the time back in 1980-81.

  • This song reminds me of somebodys baby by jackson browne

  • Who the fuck cares who was the first person to do this or that? Who cares if the Beatles were before the Electric Light Orchestra. Shut the fuck up and enjoy the music or get the fuck off of this video page!

  • @BBQFanNo1

Bravo BBQ great song just enjoy the damn thing.

  • @BBQFanNo1

Right on the money, couldn't have said it better myself!!

  • First it was What A Fool Believes by the Doobie Brothers in 1978. Then it was This Is It by Kenny Loggins & Michael McDonald in 1979. Finally Robbie Dupree paid homage honor to Michael McDonald by recording Steal Away in 1980.

  • Thanks for posting this. It's a lovely song and the video works really well.

  • My god, what a Michael McDonald rip-off :( I almost feel bad liking this song becasue the bite is so blatant.

  • wow at certain points in the song it sounds like "Lets get physical" from olivia newton john :O

  • @ladybyakugan actually this song was recorded in 1980. Over a year before Physical by Olivia Newton John in 1981.

  • Kenny Loggins or Robbie Dupree.... Yea, if you listen " What A Fool Believes" it's the same piano riff. I think Michael Mcdonald is singing back vocals.

  • This is the greatest song ever recorded by man for the purposes of enjoyment

  • i agree nice pic , good job , great song . respect from algeria

  • i agree nice pic , good job , great song . respect from algeria

  • robbie stole keyboard riff from What A Fool Believes by Doobie Brothers. without that this song would be crap.

  • I love this song......but man I never paid attention to how much it sounds like the Doobie Brothers old hit......"What A Fool Believes"............Micheal McDonald sings in this song so that explains it

  • I can't get over how much this sounds like Doobie Brothers "What a Fool Believes" ....

  • have not heard this song for a long time. so many good memories!!!

  • come down this windy road to take some passage from this book of strongfold. Run through those smoky halls to see what it was you needed to steal. Make a list of artifical artifacts of time. Pullover for those highway patrols.

  • Does Michael McDonald sing the backup vocals on this song?

  • I love this song and talk to Robbie sometimes still- great guy, great post!

    Hubble Got You!

  • Very Nice, Thank You For Posting And For Taking The Time To Post The Lyrics...

  • i love this song...<3 <3 <3

  • Tami, I miss you.

  • Oh takes me back to childhood. Lovely memories of playing on the lawn making up silly stories and pretending I was a princess. lol

  • Beats me why Robbie was only a 2-hit wonder. He should've lasted longer than that. Anyway, it hit #5 AC, #6 in Billboard. God bless!

  • great song, great beginning to the 80's

  • Michael McDonald, Michael McDonald.... What a fool believessssss, Minute by Minute by Minute - this song has Mike's riffs all over it, probably because he wrote the song. I like Robbie but he just doesn't have the vocal range to do the whole McD layered (Marvine Gaye inspired) background vocal thing developed with Steely Dan. Kinda of like margerine when you can have full fat butter. Sorry dude.

  • great " song"""""

  • esta rola me relaja me hace sentir bien !!!!!!!!!!! bonito tema....... why dont we steal away!!!

  • hermoso tema me hace sentir bien!!!!!!

  • Classic.

  • @Legendofzoom You can easily find it on iTunes store :-)

  • 1979-1980?

  • what the box? never heard this song pitched down so slow before. something is wrong with this version or...something. GREAT SONG from a GREAT ERA! much better at correct speed though.

  • Love this song....reminds me of The STARCKE PARK swimming pool when I was kid.

  • I like this better than the original. Outstanding lead vocals. 5 stars!

  • @terrafirma91 thankssss :-)

  • This has to be an alternate take, similar to the master we know. Today's music sounds nothing like this.

  • @arhuxtable It is a different take, slower and different background vocals

  • @terrafirma91 This is the original.

  • lindo

  • lindo

  • Great song, when was this released? Never heard it before.

  • @cheekygirl1972 the copyright is in 2008; it was released on iTunes Store in 1/1/2009

  • ok thanks, really good song.

  • in the original version yes michael mcdonald is in the background

  • is that michael McDonald in the back ground

  • @Cataphract300 i just did a search on Google Images :-P

  • @Christian4You This pic is so relevant to this song - good choice!

  • @insolence thank you so much... i like anime and that was the most relevant picture that i found on web... anyhow, it is how this song make me feel :-)

  • anyone know where the real version is on youtube? The radio version had more backing vocals and sounded a little more professional than this one.

  • * gives a sly wink * Laughs, and grabs your hands to dance...

  • I was too young when this came out to have been in love, (10) but it was always playing on the radio at the city pool. Fun times.

  • This song is a JAM!

  • Trippy mutha fuckers this should been in da 70's.

  • this video is for the man I love infinitely...

  • This song gives me a lightness of being in a shadowy world :)
