Summer of '80:Hostages in Iran-Billy Beer-Teen Club-John Lennon and Steve McQueen are still alive- Cool new video game called Pac Man-Thumbs up if you remember..
xianneh...always enjoy the music you love without regard to the era that it came from. I hate to admit losing touch with the new stuff, but very few I care for except for Harry Connick, Jr. and Michael Buble. Madonna brought one out a few years ago called "Crazy for You"...that one makes me shake!! Enjoy your life.
TAKES ME BACK TO HAVIN TO TRANSFER TO AN ALL WHITE SCHOOL..MY SISTER AND HAD NO PROB ADJUSTIN BECAUSE WE WERE RAISED TO LOVE A PERSON FOR THEIR INSIDE NOT THEIR OUT...AFTER ALL SAID AND DONE BLACK FRIENDS CALLED US TRAITORS FOR LISTENIN TO THIS MUSIC....GREAT MUSIC IS COLORLESS...THEY WERE MORONS...LOL..I STILL GOT MY GREAT MEMORIES..
@thesonyakyleshow I have always listened to this kind of music...I love hearing instruments and people singing...you are right..great music is colorless and this was one of my favorites as a child..
@thesonyakyleshow I agree.great music is great music.im Latino but that doesnt mean all im going to listen to is Banda or salsa and spanish pop.its ALL good.great music is great music.
@thesonyakyleshow great friends are colorless too my friend, I relate to this statement totally.............racism only exists within racists.....................
Anyone every notice that the melody of this song sounds alot like the song "What A Fool Believes" by the Doobie Brothers? I guess if Michael McDonald helped write this song then he can use the melody for another. Don't really care. Still catchy as hell.
Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
Jimmy Fallon did a segment on his late night show with Robbie Dupree and The Roots titled Yacht Rock / Steal Away~ and it was so fantastic ..been looking all over the net for the video, and the only one I found was unavailable. ( so mad) I think they did it more than a year ago now. Was great ..they stepped up the beat just enough to make you want to rock out ...loved it !! :)
Robbie Dupree was not a one-hit wonder. How many of you remember HOT ROD HEARTS? HRH sounds just like STEAL AWAY also. Those are the only Top 20 hits Robert Dupuis(Dupree's birthname) ever had.
WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES,written by Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins,is in fact, identical to STEAL AWAY. Every English-speaking soft rock music station on Earth plays those. the they are staples.
this song reminds me of Betty and the regret I will always have for throwing her overboard when she thought I was going to propose, I sped off to Bermuda for an endless summer of 1 night stands and the occasional martini. I found out she did make it to shore 3 days later, all the best to you Betty!
@Baloney35 I haven't heard this one since I was in the military, but it still sounds great....It's good to hear that someone can still dance with the same person decades later.
@Baloney35 Thats AWESOME! Kids think we are (ATE UP) cause like you folks we dance when we hear great music like this. And we do not care where we are and who is watching. We dance like theres no tomorrow.
@Baloney35 I was 9 or 10 when this song was a radio hit. I loved it as a kid and still do now at 42. Absolutely timeless and next to nothing on the contemporary music scene even comes close to this level of raw talent and emotion.
Robbie Dupree let Micahael McDonald buttphuck him in 1980 in an effort to steal his song "What A Fool Believes".Now thirty years later Robbies ass is still sore and he wears a colostomy bag but his career has been long finished.
@WiccansEatShit is that why this song's keyboards sound almost identical to what a fool believes? I was just thinking those 2 sound almost the same. wondered if Dupree was in doobie bros or what. I could find out but was just wondering to myself.
Robbie Dupree would have been excellent in the Doobie Brothers. Dupree should have joined when the DB's reformed in 1989 after being disbanded for seven years.
@WiccansEatShit i looked up the dates so now I see what you are saying. 1979 = doobies. 1980 = dupree. man... that took some balls to just rip off McDonald's keyboard lick and claim it as your own.
This song came out of a period, America pushes a lot of soft rock love songs on the top. I compare this tune every time with Rupert Holmes' Escape (Pina Colada song) & Kenny Loggins' This is it. All of them &/ much more (for example the Doobie Brothers) got at the end of the 70's & beginning of the 80's fantastic westcoast rock songs, which aren't forgotten & became evergreens, although most of them are one hit wonders!
The Video was a great idea, good work. Thank you christian4You for posting!

anyone know where the real version is on youtube? The radio version had more backing vocals and sounded a little more professional than this one.
