I'm not sure why people pair these two together. If you've actually played the games you will understand that Ness and Lucas come from different time periods. By the time Lucas is born Ness is either dead or really really old. It just doesn't work sadly.

How I interpret it is that at the start of his game ness is 13, by the end he's 14, and when Lucas starts the game he's 10, the timeskip makes him 13, and I think he's still 13 at the end of the game (less time elapsed i think). Canonically, we have no real knowledge that they're straight, either. Given the innocent content of all these drawings, I'm not sure what the problem is. If this was a tribute to Ness/Paula would it be less objectionable despite the ages of the characters?

they are from a popular game series in Japan called MOTHER the original was never released outside of Japan and same for mother 3 Earthbound;Mother 2 was relased in Amercia in 1994 but due to poor advertising (thank you Nintendo of America D:<) didn't sell well. A demo was to be put in Brawl but was reoved (i think for copyright reasons(same reasons it won't be on the virtual console)) hope that explains it.
