I've always remembered the "Hoobert Heever" blooper, but never realized that it was George and Gracie's side kick, Harry Von Zell! It certainly didn't ruin his career!
"Uncle Don" Carney NEVER recorded his "blooper", because it never happened; note how Schafer protected himself by having announcer George DeHolczer say, "A legend is....". Schafer recorded at least TWO versions of that alleged "blooper" for his albums.
Thank you for uploading this. I owned a "Pardon My Blooper" album back in the 70s with these materials, but it had a more "upbeat" continuity announcer. We must be talking about the same album Sean.
The Harry Von Zell "Hoovert Heever" bit was reused serveral times (notably on the "Best of...Bloopers" LP on Kapp; I have a 1980s reissue on MCA)...some of the others were re-recorded years later for Kapp and Common Wealth Records
(K-Tel), namely the Uncle Don "incident" (that later version can be downloaded from the urban legend site snopes.com).
