Your right, Origami doesn't need tape, but she decides that it would be better if they taped the bit so when you blew the 'water bomb' the two folded parts won't stick out. Otherwise it would look horrible.

If you fold the flaps that you cut off into the folds that you taped down, tape and scissors won't be needed. I'm not trying to be mean, just giving you some advice. That actually is a water bomb, but it looks kinda like a lantern on a string so it's close enough. Cute idea. //-^
