  • Gas it up, lets see what she will do!

  • Would've been a better display if the motor kicked in just at the display line, and headed up again. Nice flying, though.

  • A defused flying bomb, indeed.

  • the powered versions if rebuilt definitely need a new rocket motor! I have a book on these written by a german pilot quite horrible what they went through.

  • That chick ur with is hot.....get her to do some ass shakin vids for youtube....damn

  • Again, nice girl ...

  • Blitzkrieg anyone?

  • Awesome little thing :) and let's no forget the top fuselage mounted shotgun it had that could blow through US bombers with ease as they passed under them!

  • What a great model of a Me 163.

  • These were launched from the ground on rails with rockets. The rockets would fall off after takeoff. In this case it is being towed.

  • @supramanz No they were not. The rocket engine was IN the plane and they were launched on two wheels that fell away after take-off. The germans HAD something like JATO rockets but they were not used on this one.

This is a very beautifull plane and it looks like it handles wonderfully.

  • To chicken to use the rocket motor

  • No engine - The Komet was rocket powered, it was designed to interecpt bombers at high altitude. It would blast up above the bombers, the engine would run out of power and it would glide down through the bombers attacking them as it went.

Why is this one being towed - Probably because the pilot didn't fancy being strapped to a rocket. A lot of people died just trying to fly these things, guess it much safer to tow it up and let it glide down than rocket it up and risk death.

  • that woman was just so excited about the event...

  • And why no engine?

  • Why was this being towed?

  • What Power Plant does this use?

  • Hail to the father of the SR-71 Blackbird

  • 2:44 best part of the video

  • Does anybody know why it has been painted bright red? Many years ago I remember reading a book on the Komet and I swear that it mentioned a report from a US bomber crew who reported seeing a strange V-winged aircraft that was bright red. What is the history?

  • @38dragoon38

Non-powered glider designed and built by Josef Kurz from original drawings. Kurz was apparently training for the 163 when the war ended and he never flew. The bright red color is for Me163B V41 that flew in all-red markings in May 1944.

  • @38dragoon38 Probably inspired by the red Fokker Dr.I of the Red Baron (Manfred von Richthofen). Manfred von Richthofen was a very good pilot. He killed 80 aircraft (possibly more).

  • The girl at the end is hot! I'd comet her!

  • Nice body at 2.44

  • Typical woman at the end absolutely no interest in the airshow what so ever lmao!

  • Doh- caught out again! -Brilliant Flying!

  • Very confused! Looked like a full-sized Komet !. Similary, the Horten wing is an aircraft I would still love to fly! Despite flying hang gliders for over 30- years, 3000hrs +

without accident, I love flying different aircraft, and have been fortunate to meet some of the world's best pilots at Silverstone . Svetlana completed the freestyle mamanoervres , yet the Froggy French team won!

  • Pretty spooky seeing that thing been flown around. Usually see this plane in old grainy war photos! Very elegant in flight!

  • its actuality called horton (1) made by the german horton brothers

  • @tequila1333 Nah, the 163 was designed by Lippisch. Had it been designed by the Hortens (yes, Horten, not Horton), it wouldn't have prolly even had a conventional rudder...

  • 2:09 "Music?"

"Yeah, I use Wagner! It scares the hell out of the slopes! My boys love it!"

  • contemporary film makers must have learned to handle the camera from this guy. They shake the camera so much that no one in the audience can watch the film! This guy must be their hero!

(Yes, I realize it is a hand-held videocam. Don't let the details over shadow the point)

  • I never understood how this aircraft maintained pitch control. Nice ending by the way.........

  • Very well flown too most impressive !

  • Amazing - and a lot safer for the pilot then the original aircraft!

  • Very cool. A nice modern look at a rare bird indeed.

  • Video got REALLY good at 2:44!

  • Even today it seemes futuristic...

  • Very nice Video. Thanks for uploading!

  • Belle femme!!!!! 02:44 ~ 02:45

    Isso sim é um avião,parabéns!!!!

  • I do wonder if they could fit it with a modern rocket motor like they use in RRL in the USA. It would still look good if not that fast.

  • The germans was heads forwars the allied.. if they got these 163 and 262 in production earlier they would have won - but Hitler the idiot stopped the project.. good for us..

  • @nightravenonline

but dont forget, the 163 was too dangerous. but maybe the 263 had done this job?

  • @nightravenonline Was it Von Brauns rocket systems used for these aircraft?

  • @LoSeRLuCk1

No. It had a Walther Rocket engine. This engine was fed with very dangerous 2 liquit fluits.

  • @Fritztoons Nitric acid and methanol, or the earlier version was hydrogen peroxide and a catalyst to break it down.

Both of these would ruin your day if you spilled some ! :O

  • @GerbilEssences You've got a couple of the ingredients mixed up. Fuel for the operational aircraft was essentially quite pure hydrogen peroxide and methyl alcohol mixed with hydrazine hydrate 70/30. There were other evil ingredients in smaller measure but I don't think there was a friendly liquid to be found onboard unless the pilot took a beer with him.

  • @schlusselmensch I take your word for it!

  • @nightravenonline

Yeah many good solid jet fighters that the allies would later produce were based on the German swept wing and delta wing designs

  • Excellent. Great piloting and very well filmed. 5/5

  • what a fantastic thing to see! A truly wonderful flying machine that was so underrated. I cannot believe I am able to see one of these magnificent things airborne... Now for an He 162... but first obviously must come some 'safe' Tstoff and Cstoff - and a way of landing without having to have your spine fused - I would love to hear if they solved that issue...

  • Lest there's a repeat of those horrible fuel leaks into the cockpit, as happened before during the war... O.O

  • Death by explosion/fire/nitric acid/H202 i'd rather not ;)

  • No actual pilot would fly on a motorised model i think ... with original engine ^^

  • Keiner der klaren Verstandes ist!

  • @ex59neo53

About 2 years ago IIRC a Walthers motor came up on ebay, no idea what become of it, hopefully a museum got it.

  • @ex59neo53

true more pilot die in training than in fight

  • @tylerdurden0005 With the ME 163 the word training was changed to "trying to survive" i think :s

  • @ex59neo53 yes they all blew up

  • Good luck with the real stuff!!!

  • Towed?

  • yes, it's a planner !!!

  • pour info, en anglais un planeur se dit "a glider" et non "a planner"!

  • merci de m'aider à progresser en anglais

  • @Zeanma не мужики, всё правильно, надо говорить "планер" :-)

  • @1339LARS

Actually the real one was a very good glider too. The rocket engine were burned out pretty fast anyway. It actually was so that they never had any fuel left when landing. It would have been far to dangerous.
