Also, an inch thick of metal placed at an angle has the capabilities of deflecting rounds, hence why sloped armour is popular in modern tank designs

I know now it's because of the tracer, probably my eye's are fooling my brains and it's like an illusion. Because of the tracer we can ...trace the bullet and everthing seems to go slow. Tho, the impact can be lethal and even deathly.

.50 cal rounds don't get "buried" in tree stumps. I have seen them (and pictures/video of them) go through trees that... well let's just say you would never think a bullet could pass through them.

When a projectile is moving... well fast. They can ricochet of just about anything. Dirt... water... wood. Whatever you shoot at.
