The community in WoW is simply embarrassing. I just began to play LOTRO and I'm hoping that it maintains it's solid reputation. I need something to fill the void that WoW has left me with.
You don't have to be an elf to be the best "hunter". dwarf even though has - to agility, if you find yourself dieing easily you should really try them. They are really nice race for survival. Gnomes also have some nice abilities if your not all about damage. I find playing more complex classes more fun because it brings more challenge.
To me they have to much melee classes,champion,guardian,warden,captain they basically do the same thing they are all meant and can tank,i know they are different but technically they are the same they all melee
Well, if you are going to reduce it down that much then yes... But if you are going to simplify it that much, then you could argue that there really are only three classes in every single RPG. mate if u see they all got different roles, and totally different . guards with that blocking and parrying . champs cant do that. they are DPS dual -wielders. and cappys are 2hers that can heal and lead and buff. and warden got the gambits. no other class or game got that!

actually, WoW has a MUCH bigger world... you can travel from one end of LotrO to the other in 45 minutes, by walking. it'll take you just as long to go from the end of ONE continent to the other, while mounted. don't forget there are 3 huge continents in Azeroth itself, then there's outlands. there are more classes and races in WoW, and there are MUCH more quests. you obviously haven't leveled anything to 80, you clearly don't know what you're talking about.
OBVIOUSELY, YOUR, just saying that becuase YOU play WoW. im not trying to make wow look bad... and also as maps go, if you know how big middle earth is...the areas that you play and travel in are about a 5th of the actual size, and its just a matter of time until they unlock the expansion to access Mordor, Gondor, Harad, Mirkwood, and everyplace between. and for quests...when you first start out in lotro, there are twice as many quests avalible, however, wow there are only few.
LOTRO takes place in Eriador, which is really tiny in comparison to the rest of Middle-Earth. WoW got boring after a while, actually... That and the community is terrible there.
I had a level 70 character in TBC, and a separate level 80 character by the time WotLK came out. I can say that WoW honestly bored me to death after the initial "excitement" wore off. Pretty bland graphics, classes that began to feel pretty similar, a horrendously awful community (in general), content dating (older content becomes essentially worthless in every way), no real world PVP, no significant or lasting changes to the game world effected by players, and a pretty dull and cliche story.
LOTRO is great. The community isn't as large, but honestly I think that is kinda a plus. Also, if your comp can handle it, the landscapes can look pretty damn good in LOTRO. Apart from that the two games are very similar. LOTRO has a few upgrades over WoW, but it doesn't have nearly as much of a PvP aspect.
Havn't played LOTRO... yet but played WoW for a while. I think LOTRO is much better suited, from what i've seen, for anyone who is interested in RP, whether slightly or zealously. WoW seems less RP related and more of a simple grind to have THE best. I think LOTRO will be more enjoyable in lower levels because of this.

Quantity doesn't matter. WoW "boasts" 11 million players, this is counting asia and gold farmers + accounts banned/locked in the past 6 months. What matters is quality. Lotro is far more polished, detailed and immersive than WoW. I love WoW's endgame raiding content, but lotro's a beautiful game overall.

I started playing about 2 months ago, but according to my friends, hunter is the most spammed class. On Windfola, I really dont see that many hunters. Are hunters really as common as my friend claims or is he just giving me a hard time?
At a certain point it doesn't even matter, only towards the beginning of the game are stats really noticeable amongst the races. After that its pretty much in the hands of the gear you've got and class.

Hunters don't get pets with them, if you are looking for a crowd control persona go for a lore master. They can have birds, bears etc.
