  • That was awesome! :) Nice experiment!

  • That was so sexy.... sloooow mooootion

  • good work guys! keep learning. keep studying, and nice easy to understand videos are a real plus, too.

  • i also do that after shower w = 0.1 Hz

  • They missed an important part, that the force of the spinning also makes the fur "squeeze" out the water because of the increased pressure

  • this is slightly interesting, but 100% USELESS, why the hell does anyone care about what frequency an animal shakes to dry its fur?

  • @saxplayingcompnerd

Animal fur is not some unique unreproducible material. If we know how fast animals shake, we can use the knowledge if that speed to dry things more efficiently that are similar in make up to fur

  • This is so cool seeing them shake in slow motion!

  • lol loved the calculations to this! now i can apply the maths i thought would never be usefull!

  • OH MY GAWD i love dogs :>

  • 1:12 "A dog of radius R"

You could so sell that on t-shirts.

  • Was this a taxpayer funded government grant? It's cool to see this video, for sure, but I'm hoping that I didn't pay for it ;)

  • It needs audio. ;)

  • So are they going to experiment on humans? I, for one, would like to know how fast to shake my head to dry my hair after a shower.

  • @RichAzure1 Both long hair and short hair!

  • @RichAzure1 I would say roughly 25 Hz based on size. But you need the hair on your head to be quite loose. And I don't believe most people can estimate the frequency with which they shake their head.

  • That makes me want to go pet a bear.

  • I bet this ends up having huge repercussions in a totally unrelated field. Like because of this work we now have flying cars, or the cure for cancer.

Lol, You can never tell what applications might result from this.

  • @FrankCashio Ah, but the cure for cancer could also mean the ability to cause it at will.

    Biological weapons suck like that...

  • wow...this is impressive...haha... so what is the application? =P

  • Cool I've always wondered about this actually.

  • Surely a candidate for the Ig-Noble prize? Entertaining and interesting.

  • @strangemouse I thought so too when I heard about Dickerson study ))

  • Wow!!!!
