Their sonar equipment is a P.O.S. they need the Humminbird 408100-1 Fishfinder 570 DI you can find it on amazon for $280. a MUCH clearer picture than their sonar. and honestly the camera they had was basically pointless. also, get large memory sticks for your tree cams, and leave them up for 3-6 months. good tree cam and a 8gb sd card can go a long way.
I'm from Cameroon, and I have been hearing about this creature for decades now. I always heard about it residing in the Congo region, and was a bit surprised to hear there were eye witnesses in the Cameroon side as well. I wish someone or a team would take the time to investigate properly and bring this creature to light. It shouldn't be hard to get permission from congo to do this research at all. Imagine what it would mean to discover an actual living dinosaur barely hiding in shallow woods.
It is more likely to be proved by local africans with cameras and videocameras. It is very hard for outsiders to stay in that jungle at a stretch. Even the locals who live there all their lives only see the animal a handful of times.
@bgibb101 If I were you, I would not video record them and show it to the world. I am warning you that they will soon cease to exist if this happens. What do you think happens when the world catches onto something? It does everything it can to have what others have. I am all for seeing that creature myself, I wish I could afford a trip and wish to see a dinosaur just once. But any animal the world thinks is endangered we try to "save" and remove it from their own habitat. Think on this.
@ILoveGodsWord413 - believe me, if we find and film one of these animals, poachers would not get near them. The government of Cameroon would have the area declared a protected zone and the Cameroonian Army would be patrolling those rivers in large numbers. Only the WWF and one or two other scientific bodies would be allowed in.
@bgibb101 Thank you for responding. I do believe you. I wish I was able to go on one of those trips. How do I go about getting a team together? What are the steps needed in order to travel there? How much does one trip cost? If you could please help me with this it would be very much appreciated. Thank you so much. God bless you on your trip and I hope you will be able to see and record one of these awesome dinosaurs!
@hardheadache my friend poachers will come and do what they do best. the more publicity they get, the fewer will remain. I guarantee that if you expose this animal to the world, it WILL die off. guaranteed. Just because you wouldnt kill it doesnt mean that someone else wouldnt. People will come in very large numbers and destroy the place that these animals live just by being there. It might not be intetional, but they would drive Mokele Mbembe out of the area and then the dinos will die. :(
@hardheadache I agree, if you got a few people with the CORRECT equipment, enough personnel, and enough financing to last a year. It would be a lot more likely to find the animal, if it does exist. I would say get permission from DRC, Cameroon, and Gabon, as to isolate the area completely, and close in on the creature. Also its said to be territorial so find what animals evade it i.e. hippo's and crocodiles, and bring in their cent. its not that hard, to find it with the right resources.
I remember being really excited when monsterquest came out. I was like 'Yes this could be it!'... and then I was like 'WTF you asses didn't even try!!!!'
it's a bunch of bulshit..if they really believe that there is a animal of that magnatude think they would of brought proper camera's to see under water...they clearly struck something in th water and kept floating on through like nothing..
Well, I'd hate to be the one protecting this show, but I don't think it's as simple as that. MQ has deadlines and budgets wich will hold them back. Maybe they weren't allowed to cross the border for some reason. Just think about it: You have talked to some people in Africa, you have ordered the equipment, reserved some plane-tickets (that were on a limited discount)-
The post became too long, so I wrote it in my blog, if someone is interested: emoclio.blogspot(dot)com/2010/07/mokele-mbembe.html
@Mirhaus I apologize, the link may not work. But it's fairly easy to find since it's the only post in english in that blog and the newest as well.
And I'm not a spambot nor an advertiser. Just mentioning. I was just writing a comment and it became so long that I thought it's more practical to just post it into my blog and link to it. I'm not a professional but I've been a cryptozoologi enthusiast since fourth grade and I happen to find some aspects of modern cryptozoologi silly.
@Mirhaus You're correct. There are always a number of considerations the public is not aware of when it comes to making a television show. I appreciate the fact that my article was read, but I did not mean to give the impression that anything about the show was false--far from "pretending," we were legitimately searching the caves and area, but we knew that it was unlikely we would find anything.
I appreciate the continued interest in the subject.
I would love to join a team to the Congo in the future. I think about this animal all the time. It has captured my imagination. Not even the Loch Ness monster comes close.
The sonar contacts were very unusual, with long, snake-like objects swimming mid-water. the larger contacts were very interesting, and may have been one of the other semi-aquatic animals, such as the horned creature (N'goubou) which, we believe does not hybernate like Mokele-mbembes. All the latest reports tell us that the animals can be found north on the Boumba River, where they have been seen more recently. This year is a washout but we will be back in Africa in 2011.
@sonofthedestroyer - An excellant critique of the show. Your are correct about the footprints - they were massive - and the mistake that Donald Poirior made when misinterpreting the plaster cass. The cave we examined was actrually on the Congo side, but well upriver on the Dja from any villages. We believe that this particular cave was sealed, and it would have taken days of hard work to break in. The mud becomes very hard in the sun during the dry season, but softens up in the rainy season.
Yes my friend they slacked off big time! they knew this was not the season to look for the creature....& for the simple fact they could not & would not film on the Congo side of the river. they only filmed the episode for entertainment purposes only. these creatures are hiding deep in the earth. by way of caves that run very deep into the earth...! I must say it again excellent work bro excellent!!!
@sonofthedestroyer It is sad that these psuedo scientist don't wont the world to know the truth! but by nature these creatures are revealing themselves it will be just a matter of time that the truth will spring fourth to the world with out a doubt that the dinosaur still exist...
Good job. I think its in the congo side.

It reminds me of Destination Truth, when they went off the coast to look for it rather than go into the swamps.
