Don't need a "hot" wash. AND most diaper manufacturers say not to use the "sanitize" wash.
With just a hot wash (not the sanitize setting) the hot water heaters are not set to get hot enough to actually kill any bacteria. Sunning the diapers or drying them, in dryer, will do that part of the job.
To make it a bit easier you can pull the inserts out as the diapers are thrown into the pale. I hate sifting through a bunch of diapers to pull all of those out.
Thank you for this. I don't have kids yet, but when I do have them, I am very seriously considering cloth diapers for the money benefits. I think disposables would just be outrageous price wise. I used to think it was a horrible idea. But 2 years ago, I started using a reusable menstrual cup instead of disposable pads and tampons. And I tried cloth pads too. Bot were amazing! And that made me reconsider cloth diapers for any future kids.
ok I really need help on this. do you have to use the charlies soap, tinny bubbles, rockin green ect? or is something like all baby ok? btw you have super nice diaper stash.
No....all the germs get washed out with the water. No different than a shirt with vomit on it! hehe. the key to washing cloth to keep any bacteria away is, rinse, rinse, rinse before doing the hot wash!
Those are awesome. When I was 16 I had a friend who had a baby. I would take care of her baby while she was at work in the afternoons after school. I noticed the amount of diapers baby go thru the day and how expensive it was. Then I heard a disposable diaper takes 500 years to disentragrate so I decided I'd use cloth. Everyone always said those were horrible cause they leak. Now I see they have been improved! YAY for going green and saving money!
And you "shouldn't" sanitize the pockets or covers (basically any PUL) that goes same for the dryer too. These items usually dry fast laying out.
I say "shouldn't" because I've seen people who have and reported no issues, but I've heard of it causing wear it tear on others diapers.

I take the inserts out right after changing and also do the laundry tabs so all you have to do is throw them in the washer when ready to wash.
