Lolz I've played so many of those it's not funny... Let's see... I've played with the sdl shooter thing... And I played with your Null editor... and I've played that space game... okay maybe not all but I got to try a lot of them... I actually have no idea how I got a hold of them... i think mar put that space game up on the forum, and jsl gave me the shooter... oh yeah you had the null editor put on the fforum long ago too... it was an old post I dug up.... Good times
That's nifty.. I don't have alot of mathematical understanding x.x
It makes programming a bit difficult.
Such as the trig you mentioned in your rotating particles demo.
Maybe you could do a trigonometry video tutorial or something, or teach some of us how to rotate a 2d graphic or sprite using trig. That'd be epic.
When I was 14 I started learning programming and I played with tile engine stuff, and map editors. I remember my first 2d map editor I was so proud of it. Had a decent Gui
Btw thanks a lot for this video guys... thats what i needed to get me back to programing. I've done some little platformer (if he can do that at the age of 14 ;) )
At least there is anexisting game that can pwn any noob that brags about making an MMO. Are you playing on a TV or computer? If its a TV how do you do that man?
I'm fourteen, heh, I started last year though, back when I was thirteen, yeah you buy books watch tutorials, read tutorials and just move up, eventually things come together....
null looks awesome, I wish we could see it running. It's cool to see little elements of ES in there, like the blood particles and the Gemini Man tiles. (God bless Megaman 3 and all of its awesomeness)
Marcel, that split-screen shooter is badass dude! That's a really cool concept.
And I still love that particle demo. Don't you love when you create a beautiful piece of code that can be used over and over on several projects and never lets you down?
OMG... you guys must have been so talented to have developed those things so young!...

How did you guys start learning at 14?
Did you start w/ tuts and then just move to finding out why the tuts worked, or did you learn the language and move into game creation?

Learned the language then moved onto game creation. Neither of us used tutorials. We bought books on the languages and APIs.
