I think the 'Diamonds' excuse is nonsense. But I understand how one can be tempted to carry contraband especially in these economically difficult times. But you are a stronger person if you can just say no.
I can never understand people's reasons for getting involved in the drug trade; I appreciate there's money to be made in such an industry, but there's also a lot of risk. This is why I sell pasties from the back of a truck, I've got loads of 'em. It might not be seen as a lucrative business in the way that selling drugs is, but if you know where to go, there's a lot of money to be made. Of course, you still need protection-I carry a shoehorn-but it's not nearly as cut throat as the drug trade
It's a device intended to facilitate the putting-on of shoes. I use my shoehorn to do the opposite, however; should someone give chase, or try to take my pasties from me, I quickly manouver myself into such a position that allows me to slip the shoehorn down the back of their chosen foot-wear, and, pulling back on the handle, I am able to slip their shoe of, slowing them down significantly and giving me a chance to gather the pasties and take my leave
lol You should try to get that on tape and post it! =D But wouldn't it be easier to keep a brick around? That way you wouldn't even have to move, just aim at the head. Then walk on over to the assumed knocked out thief, get your merchandise and wait for the cops to get there. =)
I had considered using a brick as defense, but I'm an awful shot and would likely miss were I to launch such a projectile, rendering me defenseless in the face of pastie thieves. In a shoehorn, I have a lightweight utensil with which to do some serious shoe-removal without taking the risk of losing some of my pasties. Also, there are laws against throwing bricks at people's heads, but none pertaining to the removal of a perpetrators' footwear, that I'm aware of :-)
I know you wrote that comment a year ago, and have probably completely forgot about it by now. But I just want you to know that it had me laughing for hours.
Lets see how his anger management goes down in Venezuela.
