When I saw them in '08, they didn't have the physical rituals. It was more an unexplained feeling from the music and overall atmosphere. I'm certain that the darkness or whatever it is, is now heightened though. I can't explain it, but a Watain concert is so much more than music and just looking awesome.

They played great, and even though the venue and the turnout wasn't that great, everyone had an amazing time. I've even had people who've been going to concert for 15 years tell me that was the greatest metal concert they've ever been to. One of my friends missed the concert and he regrets it so much.GO!

Black metal gets an awful lot more creative than this, check out bands associated with "raw" and "cult" black metal and war metal bands, for musicians more interested in metal than scenes. Watain are not posers at all, they have never compromised. Sure they have progressed musically, as a musician I do not feel that is a bad thing. Some idiots think that being successful and being "true" are mutually exclusive. There are those out there who think Black Metal should only sound like Darkthrone's "Transylvanian Hunger" or the first Burzum albums, people with this mindset I find to be the real posers.
