The western society just trying to establish what is morality while Islam already established a clear definition about morality. It is strange to me why the Christian society does not believe in Islam when it is already established as only word from god Allah!... Allah hu akhbar!
@MsAllahhuakhbar Islam is a story conjured by a "Prophet" who my or may not have been schizoprenic and condoned pedophilia and genocide. Clearly this a great moral foothold.
You have taken the impressive name of "Center for inquiry", but discuss religion as if it were equal to science. This discussion could have been held one hundred years ago. A center for inquiry today, should be focused on the latest scientific research, and the current tools of science. The "CFI" is in danger of being classed along with the "discovery institute".
@ianpennack I think that's taking it a little far. Not sure this guy was aggressive enough in addressing the lack of morality presented by christianity. But check out the CFI forums, nothing creation friendly there. Also Sam Harris would of done a better job
Ohhh man. "That's what God did.", "God gave us that.", "We get those things from God". Oh really? Seriously, all I kept thinking was, 'Oh yeah? Where is he then?!'
After 2000 years of god, arguing whether god exists, or is a basis for morality is pointless. History tells us that god is impudent or does not exist. Instead investigate. The natural selection of maternal dna in relation to abstract thinking, morality, speciation. Brain laterality may well be central to abstract thinking morality, speciation. Is the female responsible for extinction of species or the male. Which sex supplied the majority of dna, via speciation, in the evolution of the Hominids.
First time to see Chris hosting, quite impressed. She is not only sexy, but also smart, a rare combination. But looks kind of a snob to snub the last commentator asking the second question. However, would like to see more of your programs and know more of what you are made of.
Michael's opinions do not represent all atheists on all the issues discussed. For Chris' question of extramarital affair question, I do not know whether Michael really believed in what he said or just wanted to be "politically" correct -in order not to appear to others that atheists are really "immoral" by disrespecting marriage, but I think marriage is just a traditionally accepted form of relationship, and certain circumstances would justify other kind of relationships.
Important issue, but the discussion did not go deep enough and the arguments by the speakers were not all based on reasons. As the moderator, Chris did ask quite some very critical and challenging questions, but they were not satisfyingly answered by the speakers, particularly the extramarital affair issue.
If when you saw "Father..." and "Fox News contributor" the image of the preacher on Fox News comes to mind...Yeah it's him...I was gobsmacked when I discovered this, really!
shouldn't of agreed about the 10 commandements. there's like what. 3 valued statements in there. Thou shall not kill, lie or commit adultery. the rest is junk

@SmallFries01 u know, the actual text isn't even that good. it actually says dont bear false witness against your neighbor and don't covet your neighbors wife(which i guess means women cant commit adultery and men can but only with unmarried women)
A lot of interesting thoughts given out here. What are some other comments?
