  • All the technology, all the training available today. Yet where can we see/hear the beauty of yesterday?

  • @DBMarcos99 I most certainly agree with you. I dont think our yesterdays can be replicated, pity.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @DBMarcos99 by using the technology available today to watch stuff like this on youtube :)

  • Another reminder to those lazy summer holidays of the 70s!

  • @VinnyMonster1 Hi Vinny, yes indeed they were wonderful lazy hazy days in the 70's which I wish I could have back again

  • @OraleeElyseom894 I thank you for your comment although I have no idea what you have written, I hope that it is positive.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @CutiiCarlyaa192 This look like German I wish I could read it, however, thank you for sending a comment no matter what it says.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @mayhorse66 yes I am married. Since you are curious I will do my best to explain why the song affects me so much. I have been thinking about it for years.

It's the melody progression. Jackie Lee may confirm this, but I am fairly sure it goes from major, to major 7th then down to major again. The major 7 is special , I think this might have been the first time I heard it's etherial harmony when I was about 4 years old listening to this song, and I was stunned . With the gentle, sweet singing of

  • @michendo You are right on with your comment. When I first saw heard the melody and saw the lyric I knew then it had to sound ethereal and I think I succeeded in that. Thank you for your musical comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @mayhorse yes I am.

  • comin' doon tae the beach hen? :-))

  • @Kilchattan7 Dont tell me your from Scotland, I dont believe it, lol.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee Alright I wont tell you I'm from Scotland.

That being said I am so well we all have a cross to bear :-))))

  • @Kilchattan7 Scotland is one of my favourite places in the world and I have such fond and funny memories of my visits there in my youth..

    Take care,

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee Your site has strange connectivity; which bit of my Country did you encounter in your younger days? My original comment on this was made to a very dear friend of mine and its funny you are now "the voice".

    Thanks for you time anyhooos

  • @Kilchattan7 The voice speaking hen, lol. I first encountered Scotland when I was with my first Big Band.

"The Squadrenaires" we played in a huge ballroom on Suckiehall street called Greens Playhouse. It was quite a famous dancehall in those days. I would be very surprised if it is still there. I dont think I ever laughed so much because of the scottish humour.

Ah! the good old days of which I have very fond memories.

    Cheers!

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee My my, Greens is long gone.

Sauchiehall you are a braw lass, haste ye back or some other silly words. I always loved your voice on this, thanks again.

    xxx

  • @Kilchattan7 Thank you for correcting my spelling of Sauchiehall, I spelt it phonetically. I have to laugh when you say I was a braw lass, as I have a very funny story about the first time we got off our Royal Blue Bus to enter Greens. I still laugh about it and have told the story many time. I can not put it down on paper because of the langauge I would have to use, I will leave it to your imagination.

    All the best,

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee LOL I used to live right off Sauchiehall, and my husband, who is American, still insists on pronouncing it phonetically! Jackie, when is your book coming out?

  • @Jojoseahorse That is so funny, I would like to hear that. Unfortunately my book is on hold at the moment as the writer is on another project that she is being paid for. So I have to wait for how long, I am not sure. Thanks for asking.

    Jackie Lee.

  • I'm a fairly normal 44 year old guy , but yet your song brings me to tears every time I hear it. No other song does that. I know it sounds sad but your voice takes me back to a happy place. So sweet and lovely. Strange.

  • @michendo Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I am so glad it brings back happy memories for youJackieLee.

  • @michendo are you married?

  • Sadly, the English language version of this show no longer exists. I have an email from someone at the BBC back in 2005 which tells me "they junked them within the last five years, along with only copies of the English language versions of the soundtracks"... Argh!

  • @jfree96 Yes indeed I heard the same thing, I dont know why they scrap shows like White Horses and other memorable shows, maybe to reuse the tapes, who knows. It's such a shame.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Ms Jackie Lee, i hope you have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, and a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR. i hope that some of the tv channels start repeating White Horses, or even Rupert, so that a new generation can appreciate your musical talent. God Bless

  • @srboath What a lovely message , I thank you. Yes it would be nice if they could bring back the Original White Horses and Rupert or a new WH and Rupert with my original recordings, however, I think that is wishful thinking. Pity. Do have a very good Healthy, and Prosperous New Year.

    Jackie Lee.

  • 13 episodes and they all died early :( well creepy :(

  • @pyrostone I dont think that everybody is dead yet, I am still very much alive.

    Jackie Lee.

  • So many memories this brings back...wow!!!

  • @MorganaBurton I hope they were all good ones.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MorganaBurton I hope they are good memories.

    Jackie Lee.

  • What can i say, i was just browsing through old clips and this jumped out and dragged me back to my childhood. 'Whie Horses' was a series i loved as a child, and hearing the theme tune completely transported me back in time. Many thanks.

  • @oatlandsbear What would we do without computers. I for one would not be able to read all these wonderful messages about The White Horses series and my White Horses recording.

    Jackie Lee

  • @MsJackieLee....Just wonderful

  • jackie...just a short one..thank you very much indeed..good times indeed.

  • @billy270564 Hi Billy the pleasure is all mine.

I am now 54 years old :-) Thank you for a lovely song. Jill x

  • @LadyPenragon My goodness you still remember the words, I dont know if I do.

Thank you for your sweet caooent.

    Jackie Lee.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @irenewoods42 - the singer of this song - and the Rupert The Bear theme - is Jackie Lee and she has her own youtube channel. Search for MsJackieLee and you'll find it and be able to speak to her. I did, and have!!

  • @EmeraldGemstar09 Thank you relaying that information, you are right on all counts.

Nice to hear from you again.

    All my Best to you,

    Jackie Lee.

  • I'd completely forgotten about this programme. Used to watch it religiously - thanks for bring back the good times x

  • beautiful song i have never forgotten from a timeless era i will never forget . those summers just lasted an eternity as a kid and the days seemed to last forever . beautiful memories!

  • @bobnboo

I agree, long long summer days no rain......... everything was possable. I used to be down the river all day, no health and safety in those days!

  • @bobnboo

Hope your life is going well

  • Hello again Jackie, Thank you for the information about your record. I can tell you, I will always keep it, unless you change your mind. I only have a handful of records that I ever owned from new. All of them are dear to me for one reason or another, in all of them you would never need a words sheet. I only have records you can hear the words clearly on. May just be a me thing, who knows. Thanks again for your information, hope you are keeping well, take care...Tony

  • Takes be back to the 1970's and school holidays. I did not really like the series; but loved the music. Thanks for posting.

  • @awlcvl Thank you for your comment and thanks for liking my recording.

    Jackie Lee.

You were a big part. Your voice is Lovely. My dear late Mom always made sure we had to eat at the table. I used to get up and go into the front room when I heard your voice!!!! Mom would then bring my tea so I could watch the show. I did have a Big row mind you!!

Again thank You. I don't know if I can say this but what ever.. Godbless

  • @MsJackieLee

I did not know now being 51 (Gosh) 52 Christmas Day how much you really did make those long long summer hoildays just so nice until I went on youtube.

Lovely memorys of my Mom and Dad. Dad is still here and will be 80 in two months time.

Its just a PITY that you were not given the money that you should have. BUT you have touch many peoples hearts but I know that does not pay the bills.

    Godbless You

  • @yot5000

Thank you so much for such a touching message and also for the blessings. Money isn't everything I suppose but it sure helps.

    All the very best,

    Jackie Lee

  • Hello Jackie,

I will keep the record, unless you become really famous and I am offered thousands for it. Lol.

It does hold a few memories for me of that time. I do need to get hold of a record player, otherwise it will always stay in near mint condition.

It was a pleasure to have this chance to send and receive messages with you. Take care Jackie, Tony

  • @4airwolf Hi again Tony, I am so glad you are keeping the record in mint condition. I believe at this moment it is worth some money as someone was offering my White Horses Album on ebay for I think 200 pounds, whether it was bought I dont know. So you hang on to it. Thanks again for the offer.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Hi jackie, Thank you for your near instant reply. Yes I had to order the record, It has been played a few times early on and is in nearly mint condition. I would be very happy to send it to you as a gift, If you do not have a copy. I have heard of artists that always wished they had kept a copy of there work. It was nice in those days to listen to a song and to be able to hear all the words clearly. Tony

  • @4airwolf Hi Tony, you are so kind. Thank you so much for the offer, however, I really think you should keep it as I hear that those original singles are very hard to come by and should be worth some money to you. I do agree with you in hearing every word of White Horses as I was such a stickler for that no matter what I recorded. Such is not the case nowadays.

I thank you again and appreciate your offer.

    Cheers,

    Jackie Lee.

  • Hi Jackie, I watched the white horses series when it was first on tv. I went and purchased a copy of your record a 45rpm single and still have it. I like many others had a crush on the girl who played julia and was sorry to only now find out she had died, so many years ago. Even now your song takes me back and still gives me a chill, in a good way.

  • @4airwolf Hi there, thank you for buying my White Horses single, I cant believe you still have it. I am sure that it must be worth something to have one of the original singles as there are not many that have survived. Love your comment.

    Jackie lee.

  • Thank you for showing this gem of yesteryear brings back wonderful memories of my childhood. Happy days. Theres nothing on television today like this. Everything today is corrupt. Thanks for showing.

  • @333Nigel What a lovely comment thank you.

    Jackie lee.

  • Once again the BBC has wiped the tapes- top marks for stupidity. I had the hots for this nice natural girl back in 1968 and the BBC has ruined it all- I might have to withhold my licence fee in protest!

  • @NickRatnieks Here here, I'll drink to that statement.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee Jackie there was a programme on TV last night- "The Unforgettable Bob Monkhouse". A clip from "The Golden Shot" was shown including the end credits- and you were there- I suppose it must have been 1968 and you were on to sing "White Horses" . I can't remember if guests shot the bolt to sever the cord but I seem to remember a viewer phoned up from a phone box outside a Radio Rentals shop and he was watching the TV through the shop window! Totally crazy! I don't think Bernie scored!

  • I recall the theme music but what the hell was this tv series about - other than horses of course.

Chilling in the sixties and seventies as a kid was so cool in reflection.

  • @daredd5 Thanks a lot for taking time to comment on this video.I am impressed with your last two lines nicely written.

    Jackie Lee.

  • long long hot summer school holidays, not a care in the world.

  • Love the signature tune and Adore the collection of photos used here! What a beautiful arrangment Could watch over and over again

  • @Tenerifelynn Ah Tenerife, I spent many wonderful times there in my in my hay day.. I hope it is still as nice. Thanks for your comment.

    Jackie lee.

  • @MsJackieLee Tenerife! Its a favourite holiday destination, my other loves out there! Dolphins! Just love to be amongst them out in the wild.

  • @Tenerifelynn Dolphins are my great love too.

    Jackie Lee.

  • this is my very own time machine, thank you........so grateful

  • @skinnyrichard Ooh! a time machine, what a great idea, I want one too.

    Jackie lee.

  • this takes me back to my school days....... happy times.... i want this played at my funeral... as a nod to my happy childhood, thanks so much for this......

  • @1sttony7 What a very touching comment. I do hope that you will be here for a very long time to come.

    Jackie Lee

  • @MsJackieLee hi jackie unfortunately my mother passed away 4 weeks ago so my comments might have been a bit premature, however i carried her in like i did for my father and know they are together again in god,s garden .... god bless......

  • @1sttony7 I am so sorry to hear about your dear Mother. Please except my Deepest Sympathy.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee thanks so much , that,s very kind of you,...it was sudden but she is at peace now with my father,.. how i miss them both.........

  • Hello Jackie. Les from NZ here. I do not remember the TV show being played here but I certainly remember the song well. Fortunately I have the 45 and I have also recorded the B side Too many chiefs to my hard drive. White Horses is a classic and for me also takes my mind back to those dreamy days of the 60's. What really bugs me about oldies radio stations today is that they seem to play the same 10% of old tunes over and over again and ignore great songs such as yours.

    Thanks for the memories

  • :-). How simple life was then. Thanks for sharing. :-)

  • Best TV show of all time, hands down. I wasn't even born when it was released, but we had the single (thanks to my older brothers), so it was played to death. Adorable.

  • Fantastic still xxx

  • @Boydno9 i agree, timeless classic, reminds me of school holidays. I only wished I had bought the single on 45rpm when it was offered to me, as have recently bought a 1971 Juke Box. Would be so fitting xxxx

  • I was totally bowled over to think I had a reply from Jackie! So gracious. I think I speak for what must be all those pony/horse mad children back then that have become adult riders or horse lovers, in saying a huge thank you, firstly for singing White Horses and secondly for being gracious, and courteous enough to reply to us here. The memories you helped evoke are with us forever.

PS Jackie, my canter work gets done to Lightning Tree from Follyfoot, but yours doesn't need to be tweaked to fit

  • @WildPony001 It is my pleasure to answer each and everyone of the comments that are sent to me. I am the lucky one here to think there are so many people such as yourself that take the time to write to me it is only right that I respond as I do with great delight. I have not heard Lightening Tree, however I am sure it is most apt for your cantering.

    Best Wishes to you,

    Jackie Lee.

  • very beautiful music, i'm using for my next vaulting individual freestyle. :]

  • @MrPonyguy Hi there do let me know how you did with your vaulting freestyle to my record. I will be interested to hear how it went.

    Jackie Lee.

  • summers in the 1960s and 70s riding great greay horses at local stables happy times ,thanks for the music jacky.

  • @scrapman100 Hope your still riding, and thank you for you comment.

    Jackie lee.

  • Thank God for You Tube - I have been looking for a copy of this song for years - My childhood was filled with horses and this TV series with Jackys song never left me. It still brings so much emotion up for me. It must be amazing Jacky that so many people have been touched by this song and series. it is good to see your comments - I wish you all the best :)

  • @terigary123 Hello there terigary, I must say yes I am quite amazed at the amount of people I hear from, each with their own special memories regarding my White Horses Theme, wonderful I call it. Thank you for your lovely comment.

    My best Wishes to you.

    Jackie Lee.

  • I love this song. It is one of those songs that one can never forget. Like everyone else, it brings back memories of my childhood, both happy and sad, and an age of innocence that has now sadly disappeared. I always dreamed of getting to ride one of those beautiful white horses...I've never ridden a horse to this day sadly!!

A marvelous TV series for children of my era, and the song so sweetly sung by Jackie with that lovely, warm voice. Thanks for the memories so much.

  • @prisonervi Ah beautiful memories indeed. I remember when I went to the stables outside London to do the shoot for the cover of the White Horses album I was totally blown away at the wonderful majectic white horses that I had my photo's taken with. They were such magnificant creatures. It left an indelible mark on my mind.

    Jackie Lee.

Gentle creatures. I will never forget the experience, althoug I had ridden horses bare back as a child they were always small ponies.

  • Statutory viewing for me, thank you Jackie and the program for getting me addicted.....to horses. I've had my own for 21 yrs and used the theme for schooling to. Works well for my boys paces.

  • @WildPony001 Oh how lovely I can just picture the whole scene you discribe, your beautiful horses trotting to My White Horses Theme song recording. I wonder do they enjoy it, the music I mean?. Thanks for your lovely comment.

    Jackie Lee

  • A very gentle series that my sister and I enjoyed watching, when we were younger.

  • I also watched this and still love it at age 42!!

  • Oh the memories! I loved this show and the music is so evocative of my childhood, and yes I still sing it everynow and then too!

  • @Mistrigf I am so glad that you liked my recording of the Theme song to this series. I must say I did enjoy recording it at the time, however, I had no idea it would mean so much to so many people. I am thrilled and very honored to have been associated with both White Horses and also Rupert Bear.

    Thank you for you comment

  • @Mistrigf Wow I am impressed by your comment. I am so glad that my White Horses recording holds such a lovely memory for you.

    Jackie Lee.

  • this tune as been in my head for forty years!.love it.

  • @1912carson Well it is so nice to hear that my Recording of White Horses has lasted so long. Lovely comment, thanks a lot.

  • Oh my gosh.. I just LOVED this show.. this music just gives me shivers and so many happy memories. I sent it to my brother in the UK and he wrote back and said it brought a tear to his eye..

  • @IKnowitAllYeah Well thank you very much for your delightful comment. I am just thrilled and so very honored by all the comments I get regarding my recording of White Horses. What can I say.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Fantastic

  • AS a horse crazy child in the US, a show like this would have been bliss to me!

  • @VABkWrm

oooh it was bliss to us I can tell you :-)

  • Great theme tune. Lovely video. I never watched the show even once, just heard the theme tune as my sister watched it. Wonderful.

  • thank you

  • I LOVE YT

  • Hey, just watching this with my mum who is going crazy cos Im finding out there's no way to get it on dvd in the UK. Anyone know if we can buy it on dvd at all? even if it's the german version my mam says it would be the best christmas prezzie x

  • CharmedFanCharlie

    Sadly it's bad news I'm afraid... They were lost years ago and no copies of this fabulous series exist any longer but a few clips... : - {

  • Search (Goog) under Helga Anders. They are available in original German with English Subtitles on DVD in the UK

  • Gosh! This takes my mind back... Me and my brother when it was shown on TV in the mornings during our Easter Holidays from School almost forty years ago... Oh the lovely memories... So upset to learn that all these were wiped/lost forever...

  • Thanks for sharing Herr Kamel . Love this track and fascinating to find it was a Yugo-German coproduction.

  • tears fall

  • can remember this as a child, rememeber the theme tune, that and "by the power of greystoke" !!!!

  • I was about 8 when I fell in love with her and this theme tune

  • always get goosebumps when i play this clip

  • When that harmony comes in I flipped.... Why is there an awkward edit in the middle?

  • jet1749 remember all the shows got the full robinson crusoe off ebay for £3 . Do you remember the singing ringing tree scary at the time ?

  • ....What a nostalgia trip..White Horses, Belle and Sebastian, Robinson Crusoe, anyone remember Flashing Blade?....such school holiday fun

  • yeh Saturday mornings - I think there wasone called arabian nights also

  • @jet1749 "Flashing Blade" had an awesome theme song too!

  • Love this tune.Reminds me of my nan and grandmah watching this with me.Happy days miss them lots

  • it takes me immediately back to being nine & the school hols coming to an end - oh the horrors of school - at least you get paid at work.

  • oh my goodness it takes me back to when i was little,I wish they would repeat the shows on sky or something..love the theme.I wanted to ride all the time back then.

  • A real nostagia trip - remember the tv series from my childhood.

But it's the theme song that has stayed with for across the years, perhaps because of that dream of escapism if offers!

  • Don't forget Robinson Crusoe

  • Reminds me of my Nan and Grandad watching this with them in their cottage .Sadly they're no longer here but the lovely memories will always be mine

  • Takes me right back to my childhood....Saturday mornings or summer holidays.....lovely song of more innocent times

  • @PeterPumpkinhead1 Yes they we were a lot more innocent at that time. Wish we could go back then. It wasn't such a rat race as it is now.

Thanks a bunch for your comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @MsJackieLee Thanks for the lovely memories! If I can't share this wonderful show with my three girls (still hope for a DVD release) at least I can share the song on Youtube :)

  • @Jojoseahorse Hi there, a DVD would be nice wouldn't it. Maybe if you email Universal records to see if they would re-release my White Horses again, it would be very interesting to hear what they would say. I am so honored to be part of your happy memories. Thanks for your lovely comment.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @PeterPumpkinhead1 Hi there to you. Thank you for commenting on my White Horses. Brings back a lot of happy memories to me also. Jackie Lee.

  • yes, my daughter said she wants the kind of life I had as a kid, running about with no cares, summer holidays full of fun and great tv, white horses, follyfoot, black beauty etc........

  • Oh my god i'm back in the good old school summer holidays watching this and then going out with my friends pretending to ride white horses!! The best years of me life.

  • i use to sing this theme tune to myself all the time when i was a kid

  • @wedrinkmountaindew How nice to read your comment. When I recorded White Horses I had no idea how much that sweet little song would mean to all of you wonderful people who take the time to comment on this Utube. Thank you all so very much indeed.

    Sincerely.

    Jackie Lee.

  • @wedrinkmountaindew Hope you are still singing My White Horses. I know I do now and again to myself of course.

    Jackie Lee.

  • i remeber jacki in the charts and

it showed the horses etc was that clips from this show?

but i cant remember the series in uk

even though they say it was on in 1978

    helga anders looked lovely

  • Fucking hell Stee,it`s enough to give you nightmares.

  • I wish i was there at that time, i can't believe you can't buy the episode's. It sucks being born in the 90's.

  • The concept of white horses is really the concept of renewal.

It's no coincidence that unicorns, those mythical beasts, with both the earthly strength of muscle under lithe flesh, and the drifting easy grace of soft spun silken clouds, are always depicted as white.

In wanting to see them, feel them, ride them, you are expressing the idea of freedom and need, of responsibility and duty.

The silken clouds of shifting light are thundering in your mind, grace unfolding.

  • Anyone remember : the " singing ringing tree " i was fascinated , frightened but in awe of this brilliant 60's series !

  • i saw it agian at the scla cinema in london. an evil dwarf, a bear, a magic tree. fantastic!

  • check out amazon ordered it and its better than I remember... its in colour!!!

  • Aways watched this with my nan who sadly died when I was seven.Brings back lovely memories.Milky tea with 3 sugars aah.

  • My dream came true. I rode the white horses at Lipica. Hold on to your dreams - they can come true.

  • im 46 i have told people of similar age about this nostalgic tune it has the same effect on every on of our era, why is that? its we also have the 80s. dont do other eras have same?

  • It was the theme to out childhood years, back in the long hot summer of 76 - Tintin and White Horses followed by Why don't you - and then I guess most kids did switch off that is... Good times

  • 40 years have flown by, what a fantastic tune. I was 6 and was transfixed when the song came on the old TV Mum and Dad must have been glad, I loved the blonde girl in the show and wished that she would be my girlfriend. The things that go through your mind when you are so young.

  • Wow I remember this, it was my favorite TV show in the early 70's. Great title music.

  • where did
