Why is it there are never any good solid drum sounds in keyboards? Lots of techno drums sounds, which is a good thing but you'd think they'd have some solid drum sounds for general use. The Vdrums sounds are weak but better than what I've heard. It amazes me the problem has not been resolved.
i need to purchase my first roland synth... i can only afford a used fantom X but i NEED a G !! im worried does X have enough cool synth and weird sounds for me?
@akarc24 the synthesizer engine on the X and G is almost identical. On the G though you have 20 effects instead of 5 on the X, so you can make much more complete productions on the G alone. But if you use your X or G with a computer DAW, the difference is not that big, so look at your budget.
@ArtemiyPavlov lol exactly:: but i just wana know if it can do drum rolls with a bass!
if the x has the capability to re produce a madonna or lady gaga album then IM sold! if not, then im really considering the roland virus for synth, and a maschine for drums
@akarc24 well you can do any kind of breakbeats, drum rolls and beat repeat stuff with the sampler, especially since both X and G have the autochop feature that will map pieces of loops onto the pads, and you can jam away in no time.
@ArtemiyPavlov thank you so much for your help.. i just have 1 and only 1 more question::: i know that with the x and g you can attach a usb cable to your computer to exchange audio data... is this how you could use the fantoms sounds to record into your DAW with no latency!? I just want to use logic pro for my sequencer - fantom for sounds, zero latency.. i would be SO happy cuz then i could just get a X
@akarc24 The X can only work as a USB MIDI interface, the G also works as a USB audio interface. So with both you can work as with a MIDI keyboard, but with the G you can also record sound to/from your Mac at the same time via the same USB cable (G appears on your Mac as an audio in/out). You can also get output from Logic Pro into G, process it with effects, and record back into Logic Pro - quite wild stuff possible!
I have a Roland Fantom G8 but mine doesn't look like the one in the picture for this video. Mine has a base made of compressed particle board and flat sides. The one shown here looks like the metal curls around underneath the instrument and has hollow sides.
OK now this is drum and bass! man ur beats r just sick awsome i admire your work I personally LUV THIS BOARD! does everything and then some of what i want
Yes, it already has a great base of sounds for such styles, and you can download many essential house/club/electro sounds from our Roland Clan site, or purchase the Sinevibes libraries which are especially made for dance/club styles. Oh yes and you should remember that Roland gear basically shaped the modern electronic music (TB-303, TR-808/909, SH-101, etc.), so every Roland still has that heritage, that punchy sound.
Moog synths are analog instruments, not digital like almost all synths today. They have limited possibilities compared to digital synths, but have a very warm, powerful and punchy character typical to analog synths only.
The Fantom G comes with a lot of Drum Kits, but i think the Rythem Patterns are more important, and unfortunetly it comes with only 1 Rythem Set (with 16 Patterns, Rock RS) BUT A LOT OTHERS Roland made them free on their official website in a file called FG Connects
i think they make that to make you used to loadind diff. projects through the USB flash memory, anyone agree with that ?
I just copped the G6 ... Cant wait to get the expansion packs !!!!!! I have seen many vids on how to manipulate and create your own sound with instruments visually!! is the exoansion easy to use???
i need Wobbly Bass !!!!!))))

@ArtemiyPavlov thanks, very helpfull.. i just hate latency on DAW's even though its a tenth of a milisecond i can still feel it when i play..
akarc24 1 year ago
@akarc24 the X or G is still a computer inside ;-) But yes it feels "snappier" than a computer workstation.

Does the Fantom G come with drum kits or do you have to purchase those separately (expansion cards)?
