They assimilated conquered lands and used the existing rulers to rule by proxy. So long as you accepted the cult of the emperor they were also quite tolerant of local customs and religion...

Firstly the last emperor or the western roman empire was Romulus Augusulus, a child who was placed on the throne by his father and the army after they deposed the previous emperor. He 'ruled' for eleven months before being deposed by the invading germanic barbarians.
Secondly, history has far more renowned woman warriors and generals than it should seeing as men tried their hardest to keep them at home.

You ever heard of the Boudica, she was a british women warrior who lead a revolt against the roman occupation of britain, she fought and lead her army, while she was defeated eventually, she had already deatroyed several roman towns and and atleast one roman legion. There many women fighting in those days too. Also a famous female warrior was Joan of Arc. Physical strength alone does not make one warrior superior, intelligence is more important.
If one would do a little more research, they would find that she was married to a great warrior king and when he died she was disgraced b Romans. When the Roman regulars were on a campaign, she led a rebellion out o passion. She had no grand strategy, she killed Roman auxiliaries and citizens until an actual Roman army met her and crushed her. So dont try to history me up.
Remember Joan of Arc? She was not a general or a fighter, she was a figurehead who inspired the French.
Also Elizabeth the first of England, reigned during the time of the defeat of the Spanish Armada. Beat the French out of Scotland. She didnt do it she ordered her generals to find a way to beat them. The men were the strategists who won he battles (even though the invasion of Scotland failed). She had no part in planning the combat.
What most of the barbarians of Rome did have as far as female fighters were archers that stayed in the back while the men fought hand to hand. They cant fight

She sacked several roman towns, including cholchester in england which was the original Roman capital, later londonium, where the govenor at the time fled with any soldiers he could take, he had 10 000 soldiers where he lured Boudica into following him, he then found a perfect battle ground,
Where he made his stand and yes he did destroy her completely even though he had 10 000 soldiers vers her 200 000 soldiers. Although she did get her ass kicked, she was still a warrior women.
Then she was defeated by her lack of strategy. Her plans were rash and basically emotional. The Roman general beat her with guile, and as I recall, crushed any hopes of success for good for the rebels for quite some time. The Romans had planned on abandoning Britain early because of too many rebellions, but after this one was crushed, they had a tighter grip on it than before.
Never heard of him, just like any other empire, the romans had great generals and poor generals, however the roman legions were well equiped and well trained, therefore they could often win with poor stratergies, depending who they fight offcourse. Some of the greater leaders was Scipio and Caeser, amongst many others. The Romans did leave Britain eventually, as they were facing rebelion from every corner of the empire, and decided to pull back its borders.
The Romans could not afford poor strategy because their superior training and arms led them to enter better at worse and worse odds. The only way to beat the barbarians was to out guile them. When the Romans got cocky and thought straight tactics would work they lost.
The Carthaginians were the teachers of the Romans because Hannibal beat the Romans with far less troops on many occasions. They learned the importance of strategy.
The problem with differing scholarship on subjects is that people will choose one side and then tout it as fact. The truth is that there is evidence to support both views of Joan of Arc - as a figurehead AND as a leader of battles. Be careful when you make blanket statements - be sure you know your facts, and clarify that what you say is your opinion - this is of course, if you want to be taken seriously.
It looks terrible, just terrible, from beginning to end. Movies like this dilute the quality of the sword-and-sandal epic, and should by no means be included in the same category as gems like "Ben Hur," "Spartacus," and "Gladiator."

it wasnt as bad as the reviews said. The special effects sucked, the script was kinda weak but the story and acting was ok. even thought the movie had many flaws, it had heart and i like that. i wouldnt buy it but its worth a look id say

I didn't know that there was so much whoomp, poomp, shoosh, kasploosh, kabing ding, noises going on in olden days. Screen writing is so bad that the sound effects have been turned up high to cover for the movie's shortcomings. Oh, well, the average 15 year old boy won't know the difference.

yes there is. Women are inferior at combat. That is scientifically proven. You put equal sized men and women against each other, who do you think will win. Just now is the military letting women into combat and I think it is foolish because at some point they might have to use hand to hand combat. And I dont like things that make women think they are equal to men in everything. Sure they deserve the same rights, but there are clear and apparent differences. O and thanks for the sarcasm.

You ever heard of the Boudica, she was a british women warrior who lead a revolt against the roman occupation of britain, she fought and lead her army, while she was defeated eventually, she had already deatroyed several roman towns and and atleast one roman legion. There many women fighting in those days too. Also a famous female warrior was Joan of Arc. Physical strength alone does not make one warrior superior, intelligence is more important.

If one would do a little more research, they would find that she was married to a great warrior king and when he died she was disgraced b Romans. When the Roman regulars were on a campaign, she led a rebellion out o passion. She had no grand strategy, she killed Roman auxiliaries and citizens until an actual Roman army met her and crushed her. So dont try to history me up.
Remember Joan of Arc? She was not a general or a fighter, she was a figurehead who inspired the French.

Also Elizabeth the first of England, reigned during the time of the defeat of the Spanish Armada. Beat the French out of Scotland. She didnt do it she ordered her generals to find a way to beat them. The men were the strategists who won he battles (even though the invasion of Scotland failed). She had no part in planning the combat.

Boudica fought in her battle alongside her soldiers, she infact did destroy one roman legion which to be fair was marching and not ready for battle, her chariots were too fast and it was a massacre. She sacked several roman towns, including cholchester in england which was the original Roman capital, later londonium, where the govenor at the time fled with any soldiers he could take, he had 10 000 soldiers where he lured Boudica into following him, he then found a perfect battle ground,

Then she was defeated by her lack of strategy. Her plans were rash and basically emotional. The Roman general beat her with guile, and as I recall, crushed any hopes of success for good for the rebels for quite some time. The Romans had planned on abandoning Britain early because of too many rebellions, but after this one was crushed, they had a tighter grip on it than before.

Never heard of him, just like any other empire, the romans had great generals and poor generals, however the roman legions were well equiped and well trained, therefore they could often win with poor stratergies, depending who they fight offcourse. Some of the greater leaders was Scipio and Caeser, amongst many others. The Romans did leave Britain eventually, as they were facing rebelion from every corner of the empire, and decided to pull back its borders.

The Romans could not afford poor strategy because their superior training and arms led them to enter better at worse and worse odds. The only way to beat the barbarians was to out guile them. When the Romans got cocky and thought straight tactics would work they lost.
The Carthaginians were the teachers of the Romans because Hannibal beat the Romans with far less troops on many occasions. They learned the importance of strategy.
