everyone knows about those people who "get caught in the wrong crowd and at the wrong time". these are simply the people who didn't take that as a warning. so yeah, we "feel sorry" for her, but i shouldn't have to pay because she made a mistake. in america, your tax dollars go to give 3 meals a day, a roof, a bed, and cable TV to the people who kill your children.
I know people in prison, and of course I feel sorry for all prisoners. It's a horrible life to live, but there's only so much slack you can cut people. They broke the law. That's just my opinion.

@mario11168 If you actually looked into this issue instead of talking out of your ass, you would find that most people in prisons are there for nonviolent crimes, with drug-related crimes making up a fairly large portion of those in US prisons. Clearly, there are some people who are beyond rehabilitation, but for the many who aren't, specifically drug users, they need rehabilitation for their problems along with punishment, not the current punishment that only makes their problems worse.

I'm not saying that it's never consensual, but it usually isn't. Sex/rape is used as a tool of power within prison. Warden's do NOT overlook it either. There are cameras looking over every inch of the facility to make sure that there is absolutely nothing sexual going on between anybody. Life in prison is all about power and control.
I worked in a Women's Prison for 4 years. . . Treated them just like anyone I had ever helped as a Nurse on the "outside." One of my greatest rewards as a nurse.

the people who said to legalize drugs must be pointing to the alcohol prohibition, but I believe prohibition can work if most people's minds change. If the government prohibits something that people aren't ready to abstain from like alcohol or say meat, then that's a problem. With drugs, most of us wouldn't even want to touch them, so it's not as big a problem as alcohol.

That sucks, what state? Sounds like there was some slander or something going on, or racism. It's an unusual case though, for someone to get that long, which shouldn't be. The no evidence thing is kinda weird, but as far as time goes, i think that 45 should be standard for such a heinous crime if it is proven that the person committed it.

Making the mistake of starting drugs, and then not being able to get rid of the addiction does not mean she, or anyone else, deserves to have their rights and livelihood taken away by going to jail, which makes their issues worse, which, in turn, negatively effects society. Second of all, there are a hell of a lot of other countries that have less people in prisons and much lower crime rates. And finally, the American criminal justice system has the wrong goal. The purpose of prisons is to rehabilitate people, and all jail does is make them more dangerous. If they were sent to rehabilitation, it would not only help them, but it would help society.

@mario11168 If you actually looked into this issue instead of talking out of your ass, you would find that most people in prisons are there for nonviolent crimes, with drug-related crimes making up a fairly large portion of those in US prisons. Clearly, there are some people who are beyond rehabilitation, but for the many who aren't, specifically drug users, they need rehabilitation for their problems along with punishment, not the current punishment that only makes their problems worse.

Let's get some things straight: I didn't say they are terrible, they are filled because people who shouldn't be in prison are, the system isn't working partially for the same reason, prison is partially for rehabilitation, but some people do need non-prison rehabilitation, and yes, many people who committed nonviolent crimes should be in non-prison rehabilitation. When you can read what I ACTUALLY said, I will continue this debate.

@MeowMorrigan just because it's "considered" rape doesn't mean they dont do it. i've actually read a lott on this and statistics show that the sex in prison is mostly consensual.clearly there is rape but it's mostly consensual.they often make condoms out of latex gloves, sandwich bags, etc. it doesn't mean that all sex in prison isn't rape it's just most of it is isn't. i'm not sure where you read it's all rape but "considered" or not it's done and the wardens see it all the time.

@ashmac128 I haven't read any material concerning this matter, I speak from experience being IN prison. Any sex within prison is considered rape. I'm not saying that it's never consensual, but it usually isn't. Sex/rape is used as a tool of power within prison. Warden's do NOT overlook it either. There are cameras looking over every inch of the facility to make sure that there is absolutely nothing sexual going on between anybody. Life in prison is all about power and control.

I worked in a Women's Prison for 4 years. . . Treated them just like anyone I had ever helped as a Nurse on the "outside." One of my greatest rewards as a nurse.

i dont think its right that pregnant women should be mixed in with general population. the woman did the crime & if someone attacks her, so be it, but i feel like the unborn children should have some protection. its not like they did anything to deserve being in jeopardy. i feel like the prison should have some responsibility in keeping expectant mothers out of harms way. after they have the baby they can go back to gen pop. but there is no reason for the unborn child's life 2 be jeopardized

the people who said to legalize drugs must be pointing to the alcohol prohibition, but I believe prohibition can work if most people's minds change. If the government prohibits something that people aren't ready to abstain from like alcohol or say meat, then that's a problem. With drugs, most of us wouldn't even want to touch them, so it's not as big a problem as alcohol.

at the very least , the babies are drugs free and they have a balanced nutrition ... cause even thought she has twins if she was out in the streets she would be doin' drugs and eat junk when eating ... so by being in prison the babies will have ... less ... problems ... i'm not sayin' they will be in perfect health and no troubles and all but they'll have a better chance

Usually once someone is a convicted prisoner she becomes sub-human and that includes any baby she may have inside her. At least it is like that here in the USA. It is a horrible system.
