Oh MY GOD! I always loved him as Enjolras and never considered him to sing anything else... and now this... it is like wow, Nick Jonas cannot in any way compare with this!
He needs to NOT chat, and just pour the golden sounds from his mouth, and that's it. JAYKAY, I'd listen to it even if he was just saying "nick jonas sucks" over and over.
@swordhunter12 he was only the understudy for marius and enjolras in 2000-2001 (not sure, but around that time) he got cast as enjolras in 2010, but i also believe that he got offered the role of jean valjean, which he turned down. he is amazing though, i love his voice! :)
We saw Les Mis the other day with Alfie Boe and Matt Lucas... The only thing that could've made it better would be to have this lovely man with his gorgeous voice playing Enjolras or Marius o.o it would've made me fangirl so much.
@Gilotheking95 I know that he did, but I meant that it would've been the best show I'd seen if he'd played Enjolras when I went to see the show in London. My friend managed to get us front row tickets with Alfie Boe and Matt Lucas still in it, so it could've only been better if Ramin had been Enjolras then =]
Oh my gosh, so as I was watching Les Mis the concert I saw Ramin and immediately the first thing I thought of was man that guy could play an awesome Roger in rent haha.
I saw Him Perform in Love Never Dies 4 days ago. He's so talented. His singing absolutely blew me away but his acting! At the very end of the show, I was just so moved. The best performer on the West End currently, no competition. End of.
I love this man :) but he's not as good as michael. But I can't fancy michael so i'll just stick to lusting over ramin. He's a lovely guy, I was a bit starstruck when I met him to be honest.. not sure what I said. I just remember hugging. Lots.
I wish that Ramin was still single and not married! Then I could bring him to my home and have him sing to me at night before I go to sleep! His voice is just so soothing.
So, I've only heard Michael Ball do this song and he is AWESOME! Ramin is also awesome, but it annoys me that he sometimes sings a few bars behind. Ramin's beat ever is definitely Till I Hear You Sing.
This was absolutely brilliant...until the last couple of bars, when he forgot about air support and the words came out way too breathy. Had he remained singing the way he had previously in the piece...well, it would have been even better.
@XxEchoingSilencexX It's mostly that I've been trained in vocal performance, and always listen for that kind of thing ("breathy"/flat/sharp/etc). In this case, the "breath-y ness" does work for some people, but it kind of bugs me. I love Ramin and his voice, but the last two notes should be supported, like Michael Ball does.
I listened to it again, and it's less prominent than I thought. Maybe I'm just far too picky, lol.
@FarmoreSpel I've just listened to it again - do you mean when he sings "where my friends will sing no more"? Cuz that's the only "breathy" bit I could tell. The other was "on the lonely barricade at dawn".
I've never been trained in vocal, I have a HORRENDOUS singing voice, but I listen to many versions of different musicals so I HOPE I know what I'm talking about XD
I feel like he isnt even using the full potential of his voice for this and yet its easily better than what Nick Jonas did at the o2 last weekend, Ramin just should have playing Enjolras and Marius at the same time. However I have to admit that Michael Ball remains my favourite, and I've heard like 8 different version of this song.
Yes this version is very nice and I do enjoy the downplaying of the music...... It's a newer sound to the song with the guitar.... He does have an amazing voice!!!! Howerever my alltime favorite version of thus song would deffinately would be Micheal Ball!!!!
By the way, have you ever heard Peter Lockyer's singing of this song? I think you should hear his empty chairs at empty tables, too.I love his way of acting Marius.
I had another question about this (sorry if I'm bothering you): I may go to London soon to see Ramin play and I would like to have a chance of meeting him afterwards. But, where do I have to wait? In front of the main entrance or at the back (if at the back, how do I get there?) Help much appreciated! ^_^
He's had no vocal training. I think I read somewhere he's only done a short course in method acting but recently he said he has started training in that technique again. But no vocal training. I was at this cabaret. I love the guitar riffs in this version. They busked this number as they only decided on the set that morning. Sweet.
did he have any formal vocal training? i just think his voice is awesome as he can go pop/rock and classical whenever he wanted to. that's why he is one of the best phantoms by far. go ramin.
I'm not sure...I know he's been in at least one band for pretty much his whole life. I also know that his hometown is Toronto, but he was born in Iran, which still counts as him being Canadian-ish...right? I also know that I love him to bits and would totally stalk him if he wasn't in London and I wasn't in Canada. :(
... Perfect. Just.. oh my gosh, that was.. amazing.

Damn tenor. As a baritone I'm so jealous at how effortless a guy like this sings that G in the middle of the piece.
I want his talent! (if not that, just to be able to see him live someday.....)
