I have to admit, I was looking for a erotic asian bride movie. What I got was a thought provoking emotional ambush. Marie was phenomenal, I have watched this film almost 5 times in the past month now. It might be Therapy, I'm not sure. I am recommending this film to all my friends.
I like the actors in this. The concept was interesting, but it stray to obscurity. The parameters were unrealistic. From the point where he buys her, and somehow the girl still has a choice. I do think this is a very interesting subject about marrying strangers for the sake of avoiding loneliness, but the character were too much. On the part of the man, and the part of the woman. Their personalities don't mix. It was like pairing a cat and a dog. Great actors, but unrealistic story

A good movie with a rocky first-ten-minutes. Made with a super-low budget during the writer's strike when all those actors were just sitting around waiting for the major studios to pick up production again. A great supporting role performance by Eric Roberts. Look for Missy Pyle in a bit part as a female cop! I hope someone re-makes this movie with a bigger budget and a better camera next time. It's like a live-action "Beauty and the Beast" with an East-meets-West theme.
Maybe if people just opened up their parameters and didn't get so constrictive on films having to be "now,now,now-budget,budget,budget" they'd enjoy movies more and there wouldn't be the need to remake everything every 1.5 years.
Besides film is art right? Art can look/be like anything. The last thing this movie needs is to be remade with Dane Cook and Kate Hudson.
Patrick has the potential to be a better serious actor. Max Bright seems to be an obnoxious version of David Puddy with overtones of the character in Rules of Engagement. He did manage to tone some of this down. I'd like to see him in another serious role and see how much deeper he can go into a character.
She performed this song at the Oscars a few years ago. It was nominated for CRASH, but IT'S HARD OUT THERE FOR A PIMP won that year. Other beautiful music in Patrick's movies is done by Keaton Simons, whom you can find on youtube. Particularly listen to Keaton's songs WITHOUT YOUR SKIN and UNSTOPPABLE and GRIM REAPER.
Thank God for Ntflix for having this astonishing movie. Patrick Warburton and the entire cast is pretty amazing and if you love movies about redemption, this is it. Ony disappointment, no director's narrative...I would have loved to have heard it. Another great Warburton movie, more humorous, edfinitely dark, is The Woman Hater. Not available in DVD....that sucks!
