  • @EPI6fingers. I totally agree with you on epi's. I own a 2010 standard left handed in ebony. And it is better than my buddies 96 Gibson standard. His Gibson won't stay in tune at all. The electronics he had to switch out 6 months after he bought it, cause it had a crackling noise on any volume level. I had a choice to buy Gibson or Epi. I went with Epi. Top quality all the way.

  • 293 people found out their gibson was fake

  • RIP headphone users :/

  • Par-3 my point people is buy Epiphone there top professional quality and they are real Lp's and Sg's. Stop spending your hard earn money on these chinese Gibson frauds.

  • Part-2 joe Bonamassa and many others for the plain and simple fact that Epiphones are top professional quality guitars. Right now the 2010 Epiphone G400 Standard 62 Sg is conciderd the best standard Sg out there today. And thats just to name one.

  • The only reason why Epiphones are way underpriced for the professional quality they deliver is that there Crafted over sea's period. This will most certainly change. Epiphones are being played today by Slash-Zakk wylde - Alex lifeson - john lee hooker

  • Other industries could take a page from electric guitar manufacturers. They make their own most popular cheap knockoffs. Gibson makes cheap (in addition to more decent ones) Les Paul knockoffs under their Epiphone brand and Fender makes cheap Stratocaster knockoffs under their Squire brand.

  • These guitars are nothing more than cheap garbage. i Have played two of them and they have very little quality if any at all. Dont ever compare The professional quality of a Epiphone to these cheap pieces of garbage!

  • Part-2 i have a orignal 1968 and 1970 strats that are worth $18,000 and $13,000 and they would shit all over your half assed Gibson. And so would my Epiphones limited edition 50th Anniversary 1961 sg reissues. So little man i suggest you just shut up!

  • Lockpicker2 lets get something straight Ma Ma's boy i have been playing on a professional level since 1979 you little bitch and i never liked Gibson. I have always been a fender and Epi man. I have strats that cost much more than your Gibson and

  • if u can afford it. Your either rich or its fake

  • Part-3 so lockpicker2 you can take that overpriced piece of wood Gibson and stick it up your sorry pathetic ass were that piece of shit belongs and shut the fuck up MA MA's boy!

  • Part-2 to be the best standard Sg out there today by many professional guitarist. And the 2011 Epiphone limited Edition 50th Anniversary 1961 Sg Reissues are preferd over the Gibson 61 Sg reissues by a country mile by vintage guitar collectors.

  • Lockpicker2 theres a lot of us who have money asswipe but were not fucking stupid like you are paying 2k for a Gibson guitar thats only worth $700 to $800 in reality. Gibsons better than Epiphone? Why is the 2010 Epi G400 standard 62 Sg still conciderd

  • people, are you serious, ? i see fake gibsons in my shop every day, and most of the fake ones are almost imposible to recognize. the gibons les paul is a very heavy guitar with a poor design on the neck. gibson quality has diminished since the 90s, and i make a living fixing them . do you wnata good gibson les paul? buy a tokai, its like having a les paul 59 but for a fraction fo the price.

  • Nothing comes close to a Les Paul Custom and I mean NOTHIING.

  • @dirtydonki You mean as far as looks? 'Cause the Studio, Standard, and Custom are all the same for the most part. Same woods (except Customs have ebony fretboards), same contruction, same hardware, same electronics. The only differences are cosmetic (like gold-plated hardware, multi-ply binding, fancy inlays, etc.). Studios are plain-looking (for the recording studio) and Customs are works of art (for the stage).

  • well... pretty much any other guitar is better than a gibson, so i found this video very helpful.

  • Works great with the sound off

  • 281 people found out they have fake Gibson's

  • I dont know...given how Gibson has had so many inexcusable QC problems here lately a Chinese Gibson might be better! Just google "Gibson quality issues" and see for yourself.

  • 0:26 Gibson used to have advertisements that their headstocks are angled [ tilted ] back

  • SOCKS.

  • my epiphone sg has 3 screws on the truss rod cover and i know its legit

  • @michaelscot9 That's because it's an Epiphone and not a Gibson. Read the title of this video.

  • Gibson guitars are the overpriced Apple Mac of guitars anyways

  • @rickroller2000 I think thats PRS

  • I like my Epi Les Paul. Made on Korea. I had to tweak it a bit, but I think it plays as well as any other Les Paul.

  • Dude, you're freakin' hilarious. I couldn't even keep my concentration on how to actually spot the guitar, just listening

  • gibsons made before the 70's didn't have the bump before the headstock

  • ... YAY MY GIBSON'S REAL!!!

  • you fuckin gay im going to fuckin kill you bitch! you gonna bee fuckin dead

  • I kinda want to buy a fake Gibson.

  • ALSO the letter 'G' from the word Gibson should start from the 'D' tuning peg, NOT across the top.

  • @steve7onfire Not necessarily. Check out pics of genuine Gibson headstocks and you'll see that there are variances. And throughout the years, Gibson also varied the headstock size, shape, open-book shape, split-diamond inlay size, headstock angle, neck wood type, volute/no volute, number of neck pieces, tuners, truss rod cover placement, "Les Paul MODEL" decal placement, "Gibson" logo style, etc.

  • @lockpicker2k only on tom delonge

  • @lockpicker2k actually they say esp

  • @lockpicker2k Epiphone is owned by Gibson, they are just considered the beginner or budget guitars that Gibson produces. not fake, just cheaper than Gibson... although they do still have great quality. Gibson knock offs are a whole other story.

  • @lockpicker2k no these are counterfit they say Gibson epiphones are actually decent jap guitars for the price

  • @spacepatrolman Epiphones are made in China, as are the counterfeit Gibsons. They're most likely coming out of the same factories. The fakes often come loaded with Epi parts & features. China is the counterfeit capital of the world.

  • @OddTimeMan you can play chinese jazz on them like that group the music machine said we play chinese jazz

  • @spacepatrolman I don't know what that means. They are guitars. You can use them as guitars to play whatever music you want.

  • @lockpicker2k LOL

  • @lockpicker2k fuck u fucking rich

  • @mathhhias42 fuck u fucking poor ╭∩╮(>.<)╭∩╮

  • @lockpicker2k fucking rich im not poor, but neither a fucking rich like you so suck my fucking ass dickhead rich

  • @lockpicker2k dude epiphones are amazing

  • @lockpicker2k Epiphones and Gibsons are owned by the same coorperations, there guitars are basically the same quality.

  • dont worry fellas, the way gibson is goin now, i predict in about 10 years your chinese copies will be better than the originals!

  • @sunnyjim98 ... I my opinion the only good one were made in Kalamazoo, MI. But I'm biased.

  • @zed0469 right once they moved down south their quality control went down

  • Oh fuck. I've been screwed.

  • It does not matter if its real or fake. I have a friend who has a Gibson Les Paul which was straighter. But it was from 1981. If a guitar sounds good, that is all that matters. Respect a guitar no matter who makes it.

  • The first picture on the left is a Epiphone Les Paul. It is the older model. SO THAT IS NOT A FAKE GIBSON!!!

  • @MrNugget19971 But Epiphones say "Epiphone" on the headstock and fake Gibsons say "Gibson". Many of these fakes are just Epiphones with Gibson style headstocks. They come loaded with Epi parts & features. They're most likely made in the same factories in China as Epiphone. China is the counterfeit capital of the world.

  • With the quality of Gibson guitars these days, I'd just as soon buy the Asian made copy and upgrade the hardware and electronics. Truth is you could buy a stock Chinese knockoff, strip it completely down and replace the parts with Gibson OEM parts and have a guitar that's just as nice and sounds just as good at 1/3 of the price.

  • @rbilleaud I agree. My friend and I did that with a fake that he bought. We were so impressed with the outcome that he bought another one! But keep in mind that Gibson parts are NOT made in the USA...they are Asian made. You can get similar quality aftermarket parts for less money.

  • @rbilleaud "Quality of Gibson guitars these days"? Wanna-be cognoscenti bullshit. They are making really excellent guitars (like you could do better). If you can't sense the vast difference between a good guitar naked and a sad fake guitar naked, how can you comment on what they're making now? Blindfolded, I can put a crap copy in virtually anyone's hands and then a real one. Nobody has failed to pick the superior guitar, even non-players. Even the look on their face shows it.

  • @garagebad Yes, actually I can, and do, do better. I ghost build guitars as a sideline for a few bands in the Atlanta/Athens, GA area. Most professionals who come to me do so because they cannot get what they want from their stock Gibson or PRS guitars. Sometimes I do a stripdown an rebuild which is quite easy, replace pups with either Duncans or my own custom scatter wounds and new electronics and setup. Or I do a ground up build - their choice. Gibson ain't what it used to be.

  • Easy just look for the "Epiphone" logo on the headstock.

  • The Chinese guitars play really well, and they play in tune and the wood isn't illegal.Don't get mad.

  • I have a 1981 Gibson Les Paul Custom, its white but like a cream color now and I wanted to make a Steve Jones model but diden't want to mess up my Gibson, so I bought a SJ Chinese Gibson off trade tang. I got it in about 2 weeks, came set up right out of the case perfect everything. No paint in the pickup cavities, real binding, perfect paint ect , real grovers stays in tune better than my real gibson. Only difference on it was the diamond on the headstock was a hair smaller than my real one.

  • The comedy made it really hard to pay attention

  • TIP: Just don't buy a Gibson. :)

  • @MetalStormUnit bingo

  • @MetalStormUnit i know right lolol rickenbacker is so much better :3

  • trenty 90008 They're beautiful! Gonna find out about availability here in my country!

    And yes....thanks, for the info!

  • Feel like a fake detector guitars

  • dclan86 try a vintage strat a les paul not even close to the tone of a vintage Fender strat But than again Gibson not even close to any thing these days but close to closeing there doors for ever.

  • With Gibson prices these days,I'll go for a Chinese one any day! Their quality is nothing to be scoffed at! I think more and more people see the sense in going Chinese, because of the good quality at VERY GOOD PRICES!

  • @telefun1000 dude go for an agile 2000 or 3000 .....probably gona thank me later once you search up teh brand

  • What was playing in the background ??

  • you gave me SOCKS?!

  • is that just for les paul or any gibson

  • NO NUT!? Is there no tension rod on the Chinese Gibson?

  • @CaptainPrivate Yes, there is a truss rod. It's the Allenhead style that you find on most guitars. Gibsons have a different type with a large nut at the top. This requires the cavity to be large to make room for the nut & socket tool. Less wood = weak headstock. That's one of the reasons why Gibsons are notorious for headstocks breaking. The Allenhead style is better. It takes up less space. More wood = stronger neck.

  • Have you heard what a Les Paul sounds like? That is why people buy them. I agree they are expensive, and they do probably make a fortune off of them but they are awesome. There is a reason they sell for that much, and that is because people buy them. The majority buy them. They could drop the price though I agree but I own one, and I payed $2300 for it. Best money I ever spent.

  • @dclan86 I used to sell guitars. Gibsons sell once in a while, but Epi's sell like hotcakes everyday. Gibson is able to stay profitable because of their Epiphone sales. And the pro's that have endorsement deals with Gibson don't have to buy their guitars at all...Gibson gives them guitars. Gibsons are just WAY overpriced. I have one and it's a nice guitar, but it doesn't blow me away like the pricetag suggests it should. I actually like my $600 Dean Cadillac better.

  • @OddTimeMan I agree that Les Paul's are priced way more than they should be given their cost to manufacture. However the Gibson Les Paul Standard I bought a while back, sounds better than any other guitar I have played personally IMO. There is a reason Gibson Les Paul's are priced so high, that's because they are god's gift to the world. Lol JK. But in all seriousness they do blow me away partially. I mean your right they don't do magic tricks, but their tone is hard to match.

  • @OddTimeMan Yep! couldnt agree more. I just became very good friends with my new Washburn WI 320pro which is worth 1300.00. Its absolutely every bit as good as the gary moore sig les paul ive played. (must say i havent played other Gibos very much), but just going on that--- 1300 vs 3000, id say its a no brainer. But at the same time i like to be seen in a Nissan skyline/stagea because i feel good in it. i suppose guitars arent much different in that sence either which is ok too.

  • Here is my problem, I can't check all those things when I am at Guitar Center, I mean come on, I would have to buy it first.

  • @awsomejustin8 Guitar Center gets their guitars straight from Gibson because they're an Authorized Dealer. But if you buy a USED Gibson, then you need to check it thoroughly.

  • @OddTimeMan I was kidding

  • i have a Hondo II that passes almost all of your "real gibson" traits... :D

not to be a dick or anything, you do realize these company's over the years, have hired company's in other country's to make guitars for them? and the money argueement is rediculous, cause i got a "Mansfield" acoustic the cost me $150 taxes in, and shuts guitat snobs up on the first strum. also, i can pass out on a beach with it, and it doesn't effect the guitat..... don't relie on brand, look for the gem's.

  • Futureunknown you reaLize you just made you self look like a fool. Stone cold Gibson lovers dont even call junk because there not asswipe!

  • @stratdem what are you talking about. I am standing up for Gibson guitars idiot, I own a few myself ;)

  • i fuckin love the guy talking in the background lol

  • Heritage is a very nice guitar i must say.

  • @stratdem those guys at heritage used to work for gibson before gibson went south

  • So if your les paul or sg isnt Endorsed by les paul/Gibson usa or Epiphone. they are just a copy and i know for a fact a Heritage les paul is not Endorsed by any of the mentioned above.

  • Gibson and Epiphone les pauls are the only two that have been Endorsed by Les paul him self. Heritage is most certainly not Endorsed by les paul/Gibson usa or Epiphone.

  • Heritage les pauls are nothing more than copys of the real les pauls and they are Gibson usa and Epiphone all otheres are just copys end of story

  • Oddtimeman save it . Go convince some 16 year old that the chinease gibson's are even a good guitar.

  • @stratdem Look up "The Heritage" Guitars. Those are the real Les Pauls.

  • The Bottom line is theres only two guitar company's in the world that craft Real Les paul and Gibson usa Endorsed Les pauls and SG's and they are Gibson usa and Epiphone period end of story.

  • @stratdem You keep stating the obvious. Everyone in the world knows that Gibson & Epiphone Les Pauls are REAL Les Pauls! A 4 yr. old knows this! That's why the fakes are called FAKES! They are counterfeit versions of the real thing!

  • @OddTimeMan The real les paul are made by "The Heritage" Those are the real les pauls. Look them up and you will understand.

  • @mjguitar6132 I'm well aware of Heritage. I think you need to explain it to stratdem.

  • @OddTimeMan by the way genius. Those aren't real Grover tuners on your shitty wanna be china les paul, their counterfeit. How do you like playing that tinny piece of crap? Gotta love retuning it after every bend huh? lol.

  • @futureunknown What??? I don't own a counterfeit Gibson. Where did you get that from? Please don't make up lies, it's really sad.

  • @OddTimeMan LMAO I rest my case.. you own a shitty china les paul.. "I had the exact same one btw" what a piece of shit huh... you're replies are no longer valid to me seeing you can't afford a REAL guitar. There is NO comparing that piece of shit to a Gibson, I know, had the same one and I threw it in my woodstove a week later. aha. what a guy

  • @futureunknown When did I ever say I owned a Chinese Les Paul? Please show me. You can't. You know why? Because I never said it. I have a small collection of guitars & amps. My Gibson is nice, but it doesn't blow me away like the pricetag suggests it should. I like my $600 Dean Cadillac Select BETTER than my Gibson. A good guitar is a good guitar. It shouldn't matter where it was made or what name is on the headstock.

  • @futureunknown Ever been to a NAMM Show? There are hundreds of guitars in this world made with the same or similar woods & electronics as Gibson, producing the same or similar results. Guitars are woods & simple electronics, it isn't rocket science. Gibsons are good, but they aren't supernatural like some people believe. I'll take a Carvin over a Gibson anyday...and they cost LESS!

  • @OddTimeMan Yes I know, you are cheap and cant afford a real guitar. Sure I can agree with you on woods and what not. But If you ever owned a real Gibson you will realize the electronics are second to none compared to anything else below it's price range. For instance, my Les Paul is like 50 guitars in one, I can make that guitar sound any way I want, from blues, to rock, to metal, to alternative.. You can't compare a Carvin to a Gibson, come on man... Ive owned Carvins too, while they are nice

  • Comment removed

  • @futureunknown You can't compare a Carvin to a Gibson? Tell that to Joe Walsh. There's a video here on YouTube of him talking about his Carvin. Also, Alan Holdsworth, Frank Gambale, Craig Chaquico, Steve Vai, Frank Zappa, Traa Daniels, Bunny Brunel, among many others, ALL use Carvin gear.

  • @OddTimeMan you can't compare... also, wood is not just wood, there are different grades of wood from different parts of the world, surely you can agree with me about wood quality. Gibson uses only the finest of woods for their guitars as well as electronics, you just cant compare a cheap guitar to the quality of wood and electronics in a real Gibson guitar, you just cant. enjoy your china knock off.. you really have no idea what you are missing. peace

  • @futureunknown Tonewood are important with ACOUSTIC guitars, but not so much with solid-body electrics. There is NO evidence that Honduran Mahogany is superior to African Mahogany or Asian Mahogany. It is all PERCEPTION based on opinions & theories.

  • @futureunknown Enjoy my China knock-off? What China knock-off? Please don't make up lies to support your cause, it's really pathetic and sad.

  • @stratdem Epiphones are junk compared to Gibsons

  • We don't need no socks! L0L ^_^

  • If the fake Gibson or Fender plays and sounds just like the original and it costs 100x less, then you know what I will get.

  • @FLIGHTCOMPANY trust me, no comparing them. I had 2 of those china knock offs, they are the worst sounding and playing guitar Ive ever laid my hands on, they wont stay in tune, shitty fret work, shitty craftsmanship, very very bad electronics. Stay away from em their SHIT, save your pennies and buy a real Gibson.

  • @futureunknown Okay, but I'm talking about an Orville Les Paul custom. A former branch of Gibson but their guitars are manufactured in Japan. It cost significantly less than a Gibson. I don't hear a single tone difference at all. The frets are perfectly dressed. The action was low and zero fret buzz. The wood is 100% Mahogany with a maple top. Everything was exactly like a Gibson except for the headstock logo. Again this is thousands of dollars less.

  • @futureunknown Those Chinese fakes you're talking about need work to be playable. Of course they aren't going to be perfect right out of the box, they cost only $300! They make good project guitars because the woods, construction & finishes are usually pretty decent. After upgraded electronics, hardware, nut, fret-dress & set-up, they can be very nice guitars for WAY less than the price of a Gibson.

  • @OddTimeMan do you know a website where i can find one?

  • @froggyfruitloops They're easy to find. Just Google "Chinese Gibson guitars" and you'll find several.

  • All your "thumbs up" represent the poor bastards that bought one!

  • @pieshot I don't think you read my entire comment. The "thumbs up" are from people who agree that the fakes make good project guitars because they are fairly well-made. You can't expect a $300 guitar to be exactly the same as a $3,000 guitar. But after a few upgrades and a little work you can end up with a very nice guitar for not a lot of money.

  • @OddTimeMan

I remember a friend breaking his fake gibson and it was made of like cheap plywood or something along the lines. Are all fakes the same? if not how can I spot the difference in woods beside the feel and sound.

  • @turydragon I've never seen or heard of a fake Chinese Gibson made of plywood. Plywood is actually much stronger than solid wood. Can I get some pics? They usually come in a variety of solid hardwoods like Asian mahogany, maple, basswood, or alder. Check inside the pickup cavity to see what it's made of.

  • this would have been better without the stupid comedy bit

  • like a guitar is a guitar if it sounds good it is good.

  • -Hey does that Les Paul your playing sound good? Is it a really good price?

-Yeah, it's awesome, I cannot believe that I could get a Gibson for this low! *Buys it and plays if for 2 years and then stumbles upon this video* MAN, THIS GUITAR'S A PIECE OF SHIT!

I'd much rather get a knockoff than a regular Les Paul any day.

  • SUUUUUUCKKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS xD!!!!

  • pretty sure thats dee snider

  • woo my Gibson Epoch is real :D, shitty..... but real

  • Masterxmorgan do you even play guitar? You never heard of carvin? Finaly somthing I and oddtimeman agree on. Carvin are with out any doubt one of the best made guitars in the world.

  • Boy, would you hit that reply button if you're going to actually reply? Of course I've heard of Carvin, it's just that I haven't heard many people talking about it. By the way, I've seen Carvins that are at the same list price range as most Gibsons. I don't wanna hear it.

  • How to spot a fake Gibson:

Fake: if it's not either locked up in a vault, or surrounded by security guards when in use.

    LOL

  • I love how people think they can upgrade a copy to play like a Gibson... I put around $500 into my Epiphone, nothing close to my two Gibsons.. Keep kidding yourself it will sound as good.. The wood is a big part of the tone.. Plywood will never sound like a guitar made with solid mahogany/maple.

  • @Earnhardt12345 With solid-body electric guitars, MOST of the sound comes from the electronics, not the wood. There are PLENTY of examples out there of guitars made of plywood, plexiglass, aluminum, carbon fiber, etc. that have great tone. I know a luthier that built a great sounding guitar out of particleboard just to prove a point: It's mostly about the electronics. Even Gibson made a plywood Les Paul & SG called the Zoot Suit model, and they sound great.

  • Hey dude, I just want to ask. Why don't you say that about Paul Reed Smiths and Fender USA models? For the most part, I've seen Paul Reed Smiths that are even MORE expensive than Gibsons. I love PRS, and own a few, but seriously.

  • @MasterxMorgan Well, I do pick on Gibson more, I guess it's because of all the perceptions and misconceptions people have with them. But I have mentioned a few times in other posts that PRS guitars are nice but also WAY overpriced. Fenders are a little more fairly & reasonably priced. And I'm a big fan of Carvin for that same reason. I like quality products without being price-gouged.

  • Yeah, but Fenders are not really that good anymore. They're nice, but what the fuck. I want that nice classic quality. Gibsons too. They're awesome guitars that are well made, but they aren't as good as their guitars from before 2000. And Carvin? Never heard of them, but that CS6 California is sexy. Also, Gibson Les Paul Studios are only $850 at Guitar Center, and are still nice. $850 is not really that expensive.

  • @MasterxMorgan True, but those $850 Gibsons aren't very attractive. I'd rather spend a little more for a Carvin. Yes, they're a smaller lesser known company from Southern California but they've been around since 1946 and many pro's use their gear (Steve Vai, Joe Walsh, Alan Holdsworth, Frank Gambale, Craig Chaquico, Tony MacAlpine, Frank Zappa, just to name a few).

  • @OddTimeMan So you're going to compare an American made Carvin using the same manufacturing techniques, materials, and paint/finishes as a Korean or Chinese factory to an All American company like Gibson, that gets the highest quality lumber, tools every part that goes in their guitar IN HOUSE (save for the tuning machines), and applies a nitrocellulose lacquer instead of a Polyurethane*COUGHFENDERPRSIBANEZCARVINCOUGH*?

  • @NickyBarrett737 ALL guitars are loaded with Asian parts. Gibson pots & caps, Grover & Gibson Deluxe tuners, bridges & tailpieces, plastic parts, etc. are ALL from Asia. Gibson necks are hand-carved, but the bodies are CNC machined. And "highest quality lumber"? They use the same woods from the same suppliers as lots of other brands! There's a good reason why poly is industry standard...it protects the wood much better! Nitro cracks & splits leaving unprotected wood. Moisture is wood's #1 enemy.

  • @OddTimeMan Dude, I've BEEN to both the Gibson custom shop & Fender USA. Besides the Grovers, I've seen every piece CNC'd and assembled in house. I agree that moisture is the wood's #1 enemy, but why are all guitars are assembled with a VERY LOW moisture content? It still has to be pliable. Nitro allows the wood to actually breathe. Trust me, I've seen more poly cracks & chips than nitro dents in the 15 years I've been playing and building. I'd would compare a poly finish to that of an M&M candy

  • @NickyBarrett737 Yes, ASSEMBLED in USA with imported parts. And wood doesn't breathe, it's dead. It's dried to a certain percentage of moisture and then it's sealed. You don't want the wood to absorb more moisture, and you don't want it to completely dry out either. Look at old guitars with nitro, they're cracked all over the place. Look at old guitars with poly, they look the same. Poly protects the wood way better.

  • Buy from a dealer, not ebay or Craigs list..

  • SUUUUUCK AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • @BoRocktoneDodd

If I want a Les Paul, I'll just make one myself lol that way I get exactly what I want , and nobody can say it's a fake Gibson because it was never intended to be such (especially considering I like quality guitars..and Gibson has not produced those in quite some time)

  • How to spot a fake gibson: Play it

  • @Arnaudgitaar Not necessarily. My friend has 2 Gibson LP Custom fakes. After a few upgrades, fret-dress & set-ups, they now feel/play/sound/look amazing...for $650 each (real ones are $3,900 each). The woods, construction & finishes on the Chinese fakes are usually pretty good.

  • @OddTimeMan Ok after a few upgrades, but without them? :)

  • @Arnaudgitaar Well without upgrades and a little work, you get exactly what you should expect for the price paid. For $200 + shipping, you can't expect an exact Gibson replica. They make good project guitars because the woods & construction are usually pretty good.

  • the best way to tell is to drop it....if the headstock breaks off it's a gibson

  • was that Dee Snider doing standup comedy? it sounded exactly like him.

  • 261 people got socks for christmas. LOL! sorry i had to do it. xD

  • lol real gibson guitars sound 2000000000000 times better than a fake gibson

  • @atrxroller So you think. Guitars are made of wood & simple electronics, it isn't rocket science. There are a million guitars out there that use the same or similar woods & electronics as Gibson. I like my $600 Dean Cadillac BETTER than my Gibson LP. It's flawless. People think it cost thousands. And I'll take a Carvin over a Gibson any day. My friend has 2 Gibson LP Custom fakes. After some work & upgrades, they feel/play/sound/look amazing...for $650 each (real ones are $3,900 each).

  • @OddTimeMan I really don't mind paying for the name, the history, the innovation. There are a lot of companies saying "we make gibsons/fenders but better!". I'll take the original, you know the ones designed and perfected over 50 years ago.

  • @jessemaes1990 I could care less about name, history, innovation. If it costs Gibson $400-$500 to build a Les Paul, I don't want them charging me $2,500-$4,000. And they're loaded with less expensive Asian-made parts! They lowered their manufacturing costs, and RAISED their prices! That's called corporate greed. People just want a good product for a fair & reasonable price. Nobody likes bloated prices.

  • @OddTimeMan No one is forcing you to buy a gibson. Its called a free market. Get over it.

  • @canubelieve Well I have a Gibson Les Paul, I bought it used. I'm just trying to educate all the ignorant people out there that think Gibsons are God's gift to the world. Some people think Gibsons are supernatural. They think Gibsons are FAR superior to ALL other guitars. That's just NONSENSE! There are MANY great guitars in this world...and most cost LESS than your average Gibson. And Gibson needs to stop finding ways to make their guitars cheaper, while RAISING their prices at the same time!

  • @OddTimeMan I really dislike when companies do that too. But I guess if you want one, it's all the more reason to be able to spot a fake.

  • @OddTimeMan I've never had a gibson guitar and I won't pay $4000 for it, I have a fender bass guitar made in Mexico and i'm really satisfied. You can buy the american pick-up and you can fit them on the guitar what ever if its a guitar or a bass . the sound will change and you'll have a very good guitar or a bass ;). This is my opinion, My bass is a precision bass made in Mexico and I have it since 1990.

  • @Jimreeves20 I agree that many inexpensive guitars & basses are very well-made. Some may need a couple of upgrades or a little fret-work & nut-work, but in the end you'll have an excellent playing/sounding guitar for not a lot of money.

  • @OddTimeMan I thank you OddTime man ;)..

  • @OddTimeMan Was it a Czech-made Dean? Those are incredible. I have two Czech Dean Basses, and a Czech Dean Evo, and they all play like butter and sound like sex. The Evo definitely plays better than any LP I've played, and I personally prefer the sound better, but due to subjectivity, I'll just call it "equivalent quality sound" to be fair. And I only paid $550 for it used.

  • @CaptainCocaine No, mine is a Korean-made Dean Cadillac Select. It looks, feels, plays & sounds like it cost thousands. Yeah, the Czech-made Deans are very nice too.

  • @OddTimeMan oh sorry i did mean for stratdem my bad!

  • i knew that guy on the corner selling gibsons for 100 bucks was a fake

  • Sloppy wiring making t fake? Lol ive seen custom made gibsons ordered directly from the factories iwth sloppy wiring.

  • HE FORGOT TO TELL US ONE THING. IF IT'S A "GUITER" IS THAT AUTHENTIC GIBSON OR A FAKE.

  • real gibsons should have 17 degree angle between headstock and fretboard

  • @overdriven77 Except for some of the Norlin era Gibsons which had a 14 degree angle. A lot of people assume those Norlins are fakes based on the shallower angle.

  • @OddTimeMan thank you for sharing that information :D
