This was just another puppet Jerry hired after Jimmy. That is why we are going nowhere anytime soon until we get a real coach and jerry' backs the fuck off and let's the guy coach.
I remember being furious at Jones for firing Johnson following two consecutive Super Bowl victories. You can't blame Jones? I absolutely blame him! People like to point out the fact that Switzer won Super Bowl 30. Anyone who watched that game knows the only reason the Cowboys won was because of Neil O'Donnell's two interceptions. Dallas didn't dominate that game the way they did under Johnson.
He said this "We gotta a job and we gonna do it baby" after he said he'd take the blame for a loss to the Raiders in a game they were heavy favorites. It was hilarious. What a clown.
The one time he also said something like," My God, I think I left my gun in my duffel bag" when it was just scanned at the air port security. classis by coach clown!!
The only smart thing Barry did was not change anything and let Jimmy's coaches do there thing. That team had great talent for at least another 2 1/2 before free agency, the cap, age, retirement, and off the field issues killed it for the team.
At about 20 seconds in Jerry's facial expression in response to Barry's outburst is just beyond hilarious. The reporter who laughs in the background is almost just as funny.
I heard a lot of guys say they we're sick of Jimmie's BS and physical camps. Bottom line is that pros starting tuning you out after a while. Who knows if they win another one with Jimmie? I know they did win another one with Barry.
ANYONE could have taken Jimmie's Cowboy's and gotten another Lombardi Trophy out of them if not more. Go and review that roster and I am sure you will agree. It was basically the majority of the All-Pro Team!
Barry Switzer was a start of the decline. They should've won it all in 1994 and dominated the game vs. Pittsburgh in 1995. They only got to the playoffs during his first three years based on the the talent that was there when Jimmy was there. Due to the bad drafting and free agent decisions in subsequent years, the team fell apart. I still however believe to this day that the 97 team tanked the final 5 games to get Barry out of town sooner than later.
The man is a winner plain and simple. The list of coaches and teams at the college and pro level he beat around speaks for itself. Dumb? Dumb like a fox maybe.
i think barry was a great college coach and good person but as far as pro coaching he was at the right place at the right time and alot of former players can quote me on that
From a Steelers fan, thinking about Super Bowl XXX made me realize something. See, the Cowboys were a FAR more talented team than the Steelers. The defenses on both teams were both pretty good, but the Cowboys had loads more talent on offense.
I recently realized that the only reason why Super Bowl XXX was even close was because Bill Cowher was a much much much better coach than Barry Switzer. I appreciate Cowher a lot more now. The Cowboys should have blown us out in that game!
The fall of the Cowboys after the 96 Superbowl had a whole lot to do with an aging group of core players and poor drafts. The criticisms of Switzer are a little off centre and usually do not take into consideration the circumstances of the time. One criticism of Switzer that has always bothered me is that he delegated to his assistant too much. The pro game is known for it's micro-managing, ego-manical head coaches. However, another pretty good ball coach delegated and his nickname was Bear.
The advent of free agency and the salary cap also had a lot to do with the Cowboys' downfall. And these free agency losses weren't just guys buried on the depth chart. A lot of these were Pro-Bowl caliber players. Guys like Mark Stepnoski, Alvin Harper, Russell Maryland, and Ken Norton, Jr. (who, as a 49er, became the first and only player to win 3 straight Super Bowls). It goes without saying that had it not been for free agency, the Cowboys would've won a lot more Super Bowls in the 90s.
Anybody know the other reasons?

The fact that the Cowboys won a Superbowl with Switzer as coach is proof of how good the 90s Cowboys really were.

Switzer was in a no win situation and should never have taken the job. Win and JJ got credit. Lose and he was blamed.

I still cringe when I think of this, and when it happened, it made me roll my eyes. Basically, Barry won with Jimmy's team.
Barry's a good sport, though. Though Jim Rome called him Bozo the Switzer, he has since went on Romey's show and chatted football with him.
