unfortunately with the new buff to phoenixes, not sure if you can still go ling muta vs protoss..

@userasdf You can up till the late game, the upgrade needs a fleet beacon which is hard to get without a player killing themselves. In this i mean if you see a them get the upgrade early and many phoenix just mass roach and kill them.

@ImperatorZed the sad part is that in some games dpsers are the most important. In WoW for example. Anyone can tank after the threat buff and healing has always been simple. but reading up on rotation is hard for some ppl. If the dps is alot lower than it should be everything becomes alot harder than it should be. Blizz has stated many times that the diffrence between pro players and normals is the ability to keep max dps no matter what the fight mecanics are.

okay i hate it when day9 analyzes the game into bits. it gives you this feeling that there is nothing to do. i mean i am a protoss player. what am i gonna do in this situation? the only advantage i had, the early pressure has now been rudely taken away from me and what am i left with? a base race that i am eventually gonna lose. so my question is what can a protoss player do? nothing? better switch to zerg.

@elander86 Learn to use your damn stargate. 4 phoenixes can kill 6 mutas without losing a phoenix. Toss is too comfortable trying to mass stalkers.

I disagree with Day 9 on the upgrades. Zerg against toss should get armour so their lings dont get two shoted by zealots. And Toss should always get attack upagrade, because armour and shileds are wasted because only half of your units health is helped. And toss weapons helps your melee and range units which is good. Screw terran , marines are just fkn imba

@MrCJudd I think the point of getting the attack upgrade is for the base race situation. This build is designed to largely avoid direct conflict with the toss death ball and often force a base race situation that the toss is almost hopeless to win.

The lings were largely inconsequential. Most of the work was just done by massing a large cloud of mutas.

If you can get away with it you don't build lings... lol. The strat is really all about massing mutas, he's right.

The lings are really just a buffer, just like the hydra is a stepping stone.

@MadBagOfHorses if by buffer, you mean an integral part of the strat, you are correct. Zenio made lings the whole game long, including after teching to mutas. I should think that if the strat is "really all about massing mutas", Zenio would have abandoned the lings after getting his cloud up and running. He didn't of course, because lings have a much higher DPS than mutas and can be massed much quicker allowing him to overwhelm Nani after harassing with the mutas.
