The Fox is such a sad gloomy album. It has haunting tunes: Heart in the Right Place, Breaking Down Barriers, Chloe, to name justa few. Still, I enjoy it very much.

This song probably got lost in the shuffle when Elton's career slowed a bit in the late 70s/early 80s. Of course, Elton fans who go back and listen to his music from this period can easily see that there were plenty of gems he recorded during this time and this is one of those.

When I think of all the garbage that has sold millions of copies, it baffles me how this extraordinary song was barely a top 40 hit. I love this song as well as The Fox. The title track from The Fox was a great album cut. Other great songs of Elton's that were not big hits include Sartorial Eloquence, In Neon, Ego, and The Last Song.

I named my daughter Chloe, after this song. My husband, now ex, could not agree on any name and then I remembered this song. I didn't tell him and we agreed on Chloe. About the only thing we ever agreed upon. Anyway, My daughter is thrilled to be named after a song and not a perfume.

Interesting observation. I'm big on production and song structure and I never really noticed this. It is a little long, but once the chorus kicks in the song starts to move along better.

Well, it's about 1:50 until the chorus starts. Listen to the full version with the Carla Etude intro. It makes much more sense tempo wise in that song, even though the musical structure doesn't exactly segue THAT well.
