the person below me is right, I made it this year and last year, and it's kind of weird playing with people that are complete strangers to you. But really fun at practices
Okay, everyone says this song should faster. I've listened to several renditions of this song, and frankly, this is the perfect tempo. The faster you get, the more messy it gets. I have not yet seen an example of this song going at the "right speed" that I prefer over this one. So, I think it was the right tempo. Way to go!
(Plus, if a horse's four hooves hit the ground in the beat of a gallop, it'd be at about this tempo, in my uneducated opinion, anyways. I know nothing about horses.)
This group's rendition is nothing short of an abysmal failure. It makes me think of a train slamming on the breaks and derailing from the tracks as it tries to stop itself from hurling over a cliff.
I'm always amused by the way anonymity brings such boldness and rudeness.. You know what's an abysmal failure, Jim? Your attempt to spell brakes. That's what trains have, Jim, not breaks.
I liked it a lot. I was just looking up this Shostakovich piece because I am learning to play it soon. I wanted to hear what it sounded like. Thank you. You guys sounded great!
I made 1st band, 1st chair on Mallets at Dixie Band Camp( at UCA in Conway, Arkansas(its awesome!)in case you've never heard of it) and this was the last song we played at our concert. But we played it a lot faster than that and we were the Junior Camp (as in kids going into 7th, 8th, and 9th grade).
I love this song, I'm playing tambourine for it, and when we take it at the tempo it's supposed to be it goes so fast I feel like I just snorted crack or something.
btw, our percussion section bounces up and down too
Ahahahaha, the Percussion at 0:41, xD Just made my day! :D
Pretty good ensemble, could possibly go a tad faster, but over all, a great performance!

Some things people should realize:
This was put together in two days.
The tempo was set by the conductor, not the ensemble.
Even if the tempo wasn't to your liking, the overall ensemble should have been. How can you not enjoy such a mature sound?
Anyways, thanks for the upload!

You obviously like spelling. Don't you worry, my spelling of antidisestablishmentarianism is flawless.

You guys were making me laugh when percussion was bobbing up and down. Good job. I liked it, but I expected tempo to be a LITTLE faster.
