  • Just one more favor to ask of you. Do you know any of the names of the groups on Facebook being used for networking in the underground business? Oh and I like the myspace I am a guitarist also, not very good but enjoy my attempts. Take care, and be safe.

  • There is one called Tunnel Construction. Could not find the others. By the way, there is a 7 mile rock tunnel job going on in Northern Kentucky right now (McNally/Kiewit). Not sure if they are hiring.

  • Good old days,Looking for work back in the underground business.Check out my channel and see if you can't find me some work.

  • I work on the design side, but with the glut of the tunnel work going on, especially in NYC, Columbus, Cleveland, DC, etc I'd think you'd get some interest if you sent a resume around. I'd start with the folks you listed on your site as past employers...You've worked for some solid tunnel contractors.

  • Thank you so much for the reply and new hope. I was also thinking of road construction now that the new bill was signed for new construction and highway improvements down southern Illinois,Kentucky etc. where they have to go through rock. Please keep me in mind if you here of anything.

  • Im from chicago and ive heard of these tunnels? What are they used for ? Collecting the salt?

  • This one is a water intake tunnel north of the city. There are 4 shafts that go up through the lake bottom and connect with the end of the tunnel.

  • Well in Chicago they are used for rain water.

  • Combined Sewage. Pleasant... Cleveland has been doing it's own version of the Chicago TARP tunnels for the last 25 years, and they have 30 more to go. We are putting a 28-foot diameter rock tunnel out for bid in July of this year. Watch for a couple highway rock tunnels in Louisville in 2011 or 2012. Starting the final design of those later this year. There are a couple sites on Facebook you should search where follks seem to congregate and look for upcoming work, etc.

  • It's like watching Modern Marvels on cable.

    Cool day job.

  • Actually, most of those tunnels on cable were designed by our firm, and I worked on several. It pays the bills, but I have never been able to get a TBM to play in dropped D tuning...

  • Great! I like tunnels and underground things like that. Mind you I thought you actually DUG tunnels for a living, but I see you have some sort of machine does all that for you. I do actually think this is fascinating though - maybe I'll make a video of my bottling hall ! Not quite the same thing I shall concede.

  • Man, I would love to see the bottling hall. Do it!
