There are kangaroos in the park near where I live. The park is next to the bush and I can walk around the corner there and see kangaroos every afternoon. So yes, you can see kangaroos in the suburbs around cities in Australia. Also koalas asleep up in the tall trees.
I used to live in Australia when I was really young, and there are kangaroos, but they don't live in towns or cities. If you want to see one you have to go into the outback, and they usually come out at night, so you have to be really careful. Oh, and occasionally you'll see kangaroo meat at the grocery store, it's kind of gross.
Lorraine, your next trip should be to Canada! Toronto has an amazing zoo, I was just there two weeks ago, and great shopping, and everything else. And Ottawa, go to Ottawa for sure (:
@Lauren7569 Her family owns a clothing store and she works there. As for being able to afford this vacation...it's not really our business so, oh well. She could have been saving for it.
I'm from Australia... Yes kangaroos are just "out there", not just in zoos. But you have to be in the country to see them! Sometimes if you're driving interstate you'll come across a dead one on the road that got hit by a car. They're pretty dangerous, actually... If you get hit by one driving your car is screwed!
I love animals and to look at them so in a way zoos are great but as much as I like them I feel a strange guilt going and seeing them in captivity. But it is a really nice zoo ! Hope your having an awesome trip <3
You should think about traveling around Florida, that would be kinda cool to explore the state more your from. Living here, there is still so much I haven't seen.
Lorraine, I really admire you for being so independent. Traveling by yourself! Living by your self! Eating by yourself! I think it is great how you can live a perfectly happy and fulfilling life without always having to rely on somebody and have a boyfriend. Your amazing Lorraine <3
how do you go to restaurants by yourself? i just couldn't... like especially somewhere fancy but i dont even like to eat at mcdonalds by myself... i wish i was that brave/independant
@cycoG It's actually a lot easier when you're out of town - no chance you'll run into somebody you know and if anybody asks why you're dining alone you can just say you're traveling.
I've watched just about very one of your "Lorraine and the City" videos and I must say, gurrrrrrrl you can sure walk and how you don't get lost is a mystery to me. Also, you are becoming quite a cupcake aficionado.
it's funny for someone who is so into fashion you sure love to wear workout clothes everyday haha. it's not a bad thing or anything i mean you are probably always very comfortable. but i wouldn't have the guts wearing those little shorts out and about
You seem very independent, and that's probably why I love watching your videos of your trips to different places. It's fun because you kind of speak to the viewers in a very nice and personal way. So your vids will do until I can go to explore america by myself :)
you know you should have your own travel show...i would watch it all the time...=0) i think you do what i would want to do when im on vacation...thanks for spending taking the time to make these...=0)
I live in St. Augustine, Florida and it has a lot of character. It's the oldest city in the states so there are a lot of really neat buildings from a while back. The house are absolutely beautiful.
Is anyone else getting more depressed as each day passes, knowing it's getting closer to her Day In the Life vids being over? I am. These vids make my day. Thumbs up if you feel my pain.
@OMGmorganxx3 I studied abroad in Australia, and no they weren't just running around everywhere. We had to go to petting zoos to see them, or out in the bush/outback. Koalas were more common to see along the roads in the trees high up. :)
I can't believe you have the money to take off work and just go travel for several days, I'm jealous! But this is really cool getting to see all of these different locations without having to go there :)
haha you wont see kangaroos very often in urban areas, more rural places have them. i live up north and see them fairly often, just because we're more.. bush like people. we're ferals.
haha when you were looking at the reptiles through the glass, it reminded me of harry potter lol. i think it was the first harry potter movie where he's in class and they are in a zoo and a snake just breaks through the glass.
If you wanna see cute houses (well, chalets in this case) go to Switzerland, Austria or Italy. They're beautiful countries especially in the Summer and Winter :) (Winter being my favourite time to go because everything looks so pretty covered in snow and lights!)
I live in the suburbs and I see kangaroos all the time, they hang out in golf courses and cemeteries. You see lot more of them in the rural areas though.
I live in Australia Lorraine and it really depends on where you are as to whether or not you will see kangaroos, like they aren't around main cities, but tend to be found more in the quiet bushlands
I really miss seeing Clyde & Debbie in your videos haha because we usually see Clyde hovering around your feet most the time. Those cupcakes look great!
I live in regional australia and I see Kangaroos everywhere, they kinda hang out at parks and land reserves where there is lots of grass, the only place you don't see Kangaroos is the city.
I'm in Australia (in a main city) and I never see Kangaroos. I've only ever seen one at a Zoo, or dead on the side of the freeway after being hit by a car (sad but true!)
If you go into the bush you can see them but they camofluage really well so i don't see them. On a day to day basis is dont see them hooping around perth (city).
Yeah I have a couple of kangaroos that graze across the road from my house. I'm near mountains and country and stuff though :-P But I still live in a capital city (Canberra) so it just depends on the area.

Kangaroos jump around in the bush you wont see them in cities. They eat grass on the side of the road. They have little brains so if they see your car they will jump towards it rather than go the other way. I hit one that jumped out at me from vacant land in the middle of a country town. They move around at dawn and dusk and sleep during the heat of the day.
Did I see you passing by the Ballard Firehouse? It was a real firehouse back in the day and it's bar now- they also have concerts, there. I went there when I went to Seattle, that was several years ago.
haha kidding, i think thats what you guys think though? There naturally in the wild everywhere! not so much in cities but if you go an hour out of the cities they will be everywhere!
I'd love to take some time off and travel on my own for a bit. For now, I'm living vicariously through you. :) Once you return home, will you also make plans to go to the new Harry Potter theme park at Universal Studios?
hahha I'm from Australia!! The kangaroos arnt everywhere but you do see them around the bushland.. I still get excited whenever I see a koala they are pretty rare..
Since you really appreciate architecture/art you might really enjoy the University of Washington Seattle campus and the Seattle Public Library :) Enjoy your last day in Seattle! I love it so so much here!
wish I could have answered your seattle bus questions but i dont have twitter! you pull the cord when your stop is coming up and the bus drivers open up the doors for you!!! I can't believe you were in Ballard, thats right by my school the university of washington!!!
it's really admirable that you're doing this. i'm taking a trip by myself soon because of you :) are you doing this for a specific reason? thinking of moving? or just for fun?
I live in Canberra Australia and we see Kangaroos quite a lot, not in the city centre but in the suburbs because there is a lot of bushland. You are making me want cupcakes yum
Definitely do the Ducks Tour! I'm a local and I really want to, but still haven't taken the plunge. While you were in Fremont did you see the Fremont Troll? Creepy thing, but still pretty cool. I've seen some suggestions about the U-District. The only good thing about that area is (in my opinion) the food otherwise I'd avoid it. And you're right about Seattle not giving a crap about pedestrians, especially downtown.
awww all the animals are in glass enclosures :( at the san fransisco zoo most of the animals are outside. how ever the enclosures there suck and they have like no animals....
You went to Glo's! YEA!!!! They have really good cinnamon rolly things. (I forget what they're called there!) That place is tiny, and definitely not pretty to look at. The food makes it worth it, though.
I love the Woodland Park Zoo. The gorillas smell really bad, though. My husband and I were laughing about the smell, and the one we were looking at glared at us. He knew we were talking smack! LOL!
you're french pronouciation is really good! love from paris.

Did I see you passing by the Ballard Firehouse? It was a real firehouse back in the day and it's bar now- they also have concerts, there. I went there when I went to Seattle, that was several years ago.
I'm having fun watching these!

I live in australia, and nah, you'll only see kangaroos in the rural areas or in a zoo. I'm 15 and i've never seen a kangaroo in my life lol

I'd love to take some time off and travel on my own for a bit. For now, I'm living vicariously through you. :) Once you return home, will you also make plans to go to the new Harry Potter theme park at Universal Studios?

I live in Canberra Australia and we see Kangaroos quite a lot, not in the city centre but in the suburbs because there is a lot of bushland. You are making me want cupcakes yum

you make me want to travel by myself =) I looks fun. The only thing I'm not a fan of doing is eating in a restaurant by myself.

LOL!
Cupcake Royale is good. Trophy Cupcakes is, too!
