  • would skipper/Gilligan be considered passengers if so who are "the rest" I know the professor and Anne but five passengers

  • Hi honey, I'll be right back.. I'm going for a 3 hour tour.. whats the worst that could happen..?

  • "...and the rest!"

  • for some reason it reminds me that im gonna die one day.

  • this song is scary as fuck...not even joking.

  • Where's Mary Ann?

  • @mrschrisc

The first season opening credits never included the professor or Mary-ann. I believe Bob Devner argued on their behalf and they were added to the other seasons intros. It sounds better with them in the credits than this one. This one sounds like the singer made a mistake and forgot them and cut it short.

  • 9 people went on the 3 hour tour.

  • weird al took his lyrics from here?

  • As per other comments it's a bit funny how they didn't mention the Professor and Mary Ann at first.

  • @MrSlitskirts Mystery Science Theater 3000 the movie they were making fun of a movie from the 1950's called "this Island Earth" which happened to have Russel Johnson who played the professor on Gilligan's Island playing a scientist. the first time you see him on screen he calls out to a woman scientist & one of the MST guys adds in "What's this And the rest crap!" they made Gilligans island jokes the whole time he was on the screen.

  • I'm watching lost right now... Much much much better... I love *Lost*

  • ginger and maryann sucked my dick.

  • This show kind of remind me of the show "Lost"

  • why giligan do like the gay?

  • If only the Skipper used coconuts hidden in his hat and beat Gilligan over the head with it on the first day, they could of all gotten off that stupid island a long time ago.

  • they were all marooned on a desert island, a DESERT island, a DESERT...... with trees

  • It always pissed me off that Maryanne and the Professor weren't mentioned. There is another version of the theme, a better version, where they are mentioned. :|

  • I remember Bob Denver as Maynard G. Crebbs in the Dobie Gillis Show, late 50s early 60s.

  • He called her " Luvy "

  • did they ever make it out?

  • @hussein335 I remember some special they did where they did make it off, then got re-stranded again, I think!

  • @hussein335 nope they are still there. and they lived happily ever after =).. grreat show =)

  • the millionares wife didn't have a name?

  • I wouldn't say it's RARE but it is cool.

  • "The minnow would be lost." = "The minnow would have sunk." Just as TheDavidBird said.

  • I'll upload this song soon to YouTube with way better quality with a download link and pictures (begin and end smoothly connected) watch it (upload 2morrow)

  • What about Maryanne and the Professor?

  • Memories. The San Fernando Valley always has been the place where movies were and still are made. I love making movies and will always continue making them. It's the business and we are that business. They shot most of this at Warner Brother's Ranch Studios Backlot in Burbank,Ca.where I spent my childhood across the street in a dinky apartment with my mom and sister while growing up in the Movie district of Burbank,Ca. I remember the cast, would see them as they lived in the area too. Alpha Beta

  • Marina Del Ray I think.

  • LOL @ fake millionaire.

  • @AnzuMerc lmfaoooo!!!!! fake ass millionaire

  • I remember watching this after school in reruns every day, and every time I saw that lightning in the intro, I thought a UFO got struck by the lightning. It still looks like that to me! lol

  • Why wasn't Gilligan killed episode 1? lol

  • where is profeser and n marian

  • @jackietorrespoo10

there in the intro but never were called out until bob (gilligan) told the production folks to add them in or he quit, so they finally got respect in the 2nd and 3rd seasons. The ending credits on season 1 (this) showed their names as co starring.

  • love this show

  • @AnzuMerc and RichYan33,

The Howell's are both very ostentatious. They could have wanted to show off to the others,or even end up buying the boat later for the collection?

  • @AnzuMerc Or why he and his wife brought so much stuff for a three hour cruise?

  • Russell Johnson and Dawn Wells got tired of that "and the rest" crap by the second season.

  • There are 98 episodes of "Gilligan's Island" (36 are in black-and-white, 62 are in color).

  • @AnzuMerc This millionaire was an eccentric one...

  • @AnzuMerc This millionaire was an eccentric one...

  • This is not rare. The second and third seasons were in color. LOL.

  • If not for the courage of the fearless crew, the Minnow would be lost. Uh, didn't they get lost anyway? If they didn't get lost, there wouldn't have been a series, I'm thinkin....

  • @sassy92000 Lost--meaning sunk, finished, kaput.

  • @sassy92000

    "Lost" as sunk. Geeesh.

  • @sassy92000 I'm pretty sure it means they would have sunk.

  • @TheDavidBird in naval terminology lost means sunk, during WWII the Aircraft Carrier Hornet was "Lost" at the battle of the Santa Cruz. the ship took 4 bombs, 2 torpedos & had 2 damaged Japanese airplanes crash into it. unable to be towed the U.S. fleet tried to sink the carrier with 9 torpedos & 400 5 INCH gun rounds but were unsuccessful. Hornet was found the next morning by the Japanese fleet & sunk with 4 torpedos.

  • @sassy92000 When they say the minnow would be lost, they mean it would have sank if not for the courage of the fearless crew. They weren't lost, they were stranded. Herpderp.

  • @sassy92000 I think they meant "lost" as in destroyed, like someone "losing" their life means their death.

  • @sassy92000 They mean the ship being "lost" as in sinking and everyone dying.

  • @sassy92000 I believe they mean, if it weren't for the Skipper and Gilligan, the ship would've been totally lost and everyone would have died in the storm.

  • @sassy92000 Lost means sunk in naval terminology.

  • @sassy92000 They're talking about being date

  • @sassy92000 They mean the boat being lost, not them.

  • Comment removed

  • @sassy92000 Really? They were trying to keep the boat from sinking. It isn't saying, "the boat can't be found." Someone missed a few English classes.

  • @AnzuMerc What I want to know is why they brought along almost everything the own for a three hour tour.

  • @F14ace Probably they were afraid of burglars breaking into their house...

  • Is the series available for download...Thanks in advance!

  • Well, that sky isn't blue.

  • If you notice at 0:20 The flag in the background is at half-mast. That's because the scene for the theme song was filmed shortly after JFK was assassinated.

  • Can you believe that the TV Station actually received letters from people asking about the castaways and received complaints about the network leaving them on the island just to make a show instead of rescuing them? That's how retarted people were in the 60's...

  • @dreamwad1 I wouldn't be so harsh as to call people retarded back in those days. Tv was a new media, and the audiences were naive enough to believe these shows were kinda real, like the new "reality" TV you see today. How many people today, with all the available knowledge out there, still believe what they see on reality TV could possibly be true? Unfortunately, too many!

  • @TheBrendadale That's a very good point... A very good point indeed.

  • @TheBrendadale TV was a new media? Not really. It had been around since 1946. No, people did not think these shows were "kinda real". TV was first demonstrated to the public back in the 1800's, at the same world's fair in Paris that showed off the Eiffel Tower.

  • @dreamwad1 The complaints you're referring to were about leaving the series unfinished, with the castaways unrescued. And it's "retarded", not "retarted".

  • "...the movie star, and two other people, are here on Gilligan's Isle."

  • How can anyone dislike this? seriously

  • Here in Stephan King's Main!

  • Ginger or Mary Ann? Mary Ann of course....she matches any bed spread. Sexy in her own way...Small town girl.

  • Why was Mary-Anne never featured during the intro...?

  • @BalletBeauty97 She was included in the original B & W version but for some reason they left out The Professor & Mary Anne on this "newer" version...

  • Oh my gosh. I used to watch this all the time. I actually felt bad if I missed an episode.

  • Were they having pollution, in Hawaii, when they went on that 3 hour tour? The sky and water look so purple?

  • If anyone has this Rare complete series of Gilligans Island S1 in color please upload for me.

  • bob sure liked smoking his pot.

  • I have this song downloaded to my phone (different voices) & in the one i have he mentions the professor & maryann

  • They don't make TV like this anymore.... T^T I used to watch this show when I was little!

  • @AnzuMerc Because he was a lazy rich person and made everyone do everything for him. :)

  • I like the thing Roseanne did with gilligans island episode sherwood shwartz a loving tribute. Just saying

  • Who's Robinson Caruso?

  • @bloggaloggs i'm sure they meant robinson crusoe, but they added that extra syllable to make the song sound better. because of this song, i sometimes have trouble saying "crusoe". robinson crusoe was a fictitious character that got stranded on a deserted island in the 1600s.

  • Lost is basically a cross between Myst and Gilligan 's Island.

  • 2,027,937 jobs available at top usa jobs.com

  • looool

  • When Gilligan's Island Was On TBS And TNT They The 1st Season Was In Color

  • If i was on that island I would have raped maryanne so many times. so many times.

  • @spfraiders15 hahaaaaa you aint right

  • the boat looks like the orca boat from jaws

  • Comment removed

  • @MichaelBrookham Gilligan was an idiot, they had many times to escape but someway, somehow he always goof-up...but if he check the weather, they would never had gilligans island!

  • Comment removed

  • @MichaelBrookham It was'nt in the story!

  • @MichaelBrookham I guess it wouldn't have worked with the premise of the series. Even the Captain should have checked the impending weather. But, we wouldn't have had such a wonderfully fantastical programme to entertain us is everything had been done right before the ship set sail!!!!

  • @MichaelBrookham and maybe he did, in those days weather reports used to screw-up a lot :)

  • @MichaelBrookham If he did there would be no tv series of Gilligan...if that fits you for an answer...

  • @MichaelBrookham Although knowledge is power, Gilligan definitely had more muscle.

  • @MichaelBrookham mighty sailing man? look at the boat they where on!

  • @MichaelBrookham He was high smoking the good chit weed hehe

  • very cute

  • how did you get this to load?? I couldn't load this song on YouTube... :(

  • @TimeWaster001 CAPTAIN OBVIOUS... nah seriously it was a joke, can't you understand what is a joke ?

  • Weren't all the later episodes colorised with a color intro?

  • I like the Lerics to the Song but with the music of stairway to heaven. It really sounds good and well done. ive not heard it on the radio in years.

I Beleave i heard it on the Doctor Demento Show.

  • I still love this show.

    Thanks.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • What happened to colorization? Was there a court decision preventing it without the original producers, or did people just think it sucked? I remember one movie where Frank Sinatra (Old Blue Eyes) had brown eyes.

  • @TheLostProphecies 'fraid not. They've also got no lights and no motorcars... not a single luxury, really. Except of course the bamboo record player.

  • tss... none of them has a fucking cellphone ? What a bunch of old-school moron...

  • Yuck...I love the first season better in B&W. This here is junk; look at the coloring job.

  • no love for Mary Ann and the Professor.

  • Gilligans Island Intro Reversed

    watch?v=OFveeyJy-qw

  • It's kind of funny they didn't include the professor and maryann in the introduction

  • So - the eternal question - Ginger or Mary Ann? I'm a Ginger guy....

  • But there is no reason for you to hold back this iconic show from future fans. You in the words of Robert Conrad about the Wild Wild West Movie "Bastardized" the original black and white shows by "colorizing" as though they weren't good enough to play asis on TBS. I got news for you shit bag, GI will live on long after your worthless DNA fades into obscurity. We know you are responsible for the zero reruns of GI. What are you waiting for? The rest of the cast to die and make CGI GI? You Suck!!!

  • Ted Turner blows, Release the lockdown on GI so our kids can watch what we watched in the 60's and 70's, get with the "program".. Ted Turner shut down Gi, No doubt. I hate Ted Turner, He's the human hunter on GI. TT you SUCK. Give up your rights to GI , GI is an American Iconic television show and we want GI more than 80's MTV. GI is an American staple in American households across this nation and for a piece of shit like you to stifle it is criminal. I have the 3 DVD set, so I can watch anytime

  • what about the professer and mary?!?!

  • @Hijynx87 Um, it's Maryann

  • @Hijynx87 whatever, still they weren't on the 2nd season?

  • Brings back memories! My family were stationed in Singapore in the sixties when this was shown.

  • How was this colorized?

  • @michaelhviper this was originally in Black & White. Remember, this was the 1st season. You can probably find it, on Youtube, in Black and white.

  • @michaelhviper It called technology dumass

  • @Sukearo DUH!!! I know technology is used here, I meant HOW it is used to colorize it.

  • The theme song was changed after the first season. Bob Denver (the lovable Gilligan) is the one who fought to have the professor and mary anne added to the song. After the first season ended, a new band recorded the song adding in "the professor and Mary Anne..." at the end of the theme. Bob will always be remembered for being a guy who fought for equality--no matter how small or large the fight may be.

  • @pwm8807 It's funny. About 25 years ago at a toy & collectables show in Hayward California, Bob Denver & Russell Johnson made an apperance. Gilligan's Island was just out on video. Russell Johnson was literally on a card tabe in the corner of the room, with nobody even near him, while Bob Denver was in a seperate room with a huge sign that said "Come Meet Bob Denver aka Gilligan from Gilligan's Island". I kinda felt he left the Professor out in the cold.

  • @Aeolis7

I am very surprised that Bob would do something like that!

  • HOW LONG WOULD IT HAVE TAKEN TO SAY " THE PROFESSOR AND MARYANNE"??? THIS IS NOT RIGHT! I JUST DONT GET IT!

  • @Calsummersishere

I have wondered about this one too! At one point I heard some explanation, but I do not remember how it was explained. Might someone be able to help me out here?

  • I always found it funny that the shot of the boat on the waves has no cabin tower on top but the other shots have it. How can you make a mistake like that in the opening.

  • see my comments on "Gilligan's Ilsnd theme" by intervision. those people f---with the funny themse song! How dare they! ha, ha. Loved this show--so ridiculous and tropical fun. Makes you want to get lost on a three hour tour to get away formt he inanities of reality shows. G. was real entertainment. I LOVED Mrs. Howell--she and her husband were in a rich la, la land while everbody else struggled.

  • Comment removed

  • Its awesome to see this intro in color

  • How did Tina Louise think she was going to be the star of the show when it's called Gilligans Island?

  • @Attila709 what i always wondered too

  • @Attila709 That's what Schwartz and the rest of the cast wondered too.

  • DrTazMage, The Professor and Maryann were changed from "the rest" from the 1st season to the 2nd and 3rd seasons.Oh,to hear both versions end themes backwards.

  • DrTazMage, The Professor and Maryann were changed from "the rest" from the 1st season to the 2nd and 3rd seasons.

  • Love this music.

  • What a great show this was. I'd give so much to have shows and times like that again.

  • nice.

  • If you pause at 1:41 you can see the American flag at half staff. The show began production shortly after the assassination of JFK.

  • I always laugh when people comment about alternative scenarios like why cant the professor fix the boat?, or why dont they kill Gilligan? I beleive that media mogul Ted Turner had once owned the rights to this show, and he wanted to use the colorizing technology. I personally like the pre 1965 show in B/W. About the intro song, there was actually another song before this one for the pilot episode, but the executives at CBS told creator Sherwood Schwartz he needed the song changed.

  • Last time I saw a sky that colour I was tripping really hard.

  • Ok, so where's The Professor and Maryann hiding? What where they up to when the beginning was being filmed???

  • @DrTazMage That is explained on the Surviving Gilligan's Island DVD. The original credits did have all the cast, so the cast complained that each person should be mentioned. So in the next season, they had to change the introduction and theme song.

  • @DrTazMage ik

  • @DrTazMage They were there, just not added to the opening til Season 2.

  • @DrTazMage boning. duh.

  • @DrTazMage They were not a part of the show in the first writing, and thus were left out of the theme song. Their characters were entered into the show after the focus groups.

  • @DrTazMage I have the collection of the series (not the movies which I wish I did) and on one, the bonus edition had a missing episode in which the professor, Mary Ann and Ginger were all different actor/actresses with different personalities then the ones we know and love. My theory is that they weren't sure which actor/actresses they were going to keep or the opening was a last minute thing, so they panicked and said "the rest". Don't know if this is real, but my theory anyway

  • 0:51--"and the rest...." that is a huge injustice to the Professor and Mary Ann!

  • Why didn't they just shoot Gilligan?

  • @Sailorsega Because they did not have a gun. Although, beating him to death with coconuts would have been blood it would have cut the series short. But it might have saved the careers of several actors.

  • @zappasaurus The professor can make a radio out of coconuts but he can't make a gun?

  • @Sailorsega LOL Your question makes me think of a quote from "That '70s Show" where Red was watching "Gilligan's Island"...'Aw, Gilligan SCREWED it up! Why don't they just kill him?!" lol :-)

  • @NoInfringementIntent Thanks that's what I was going for.

  • @Sailorsega lol Great minds think alike! :-)

  • were they too lazy to sing "the professor and Mary Ann" ?

  • i don't like it in color

  • i don't like it in cler

  • " How did you get the 1st season of Gilligan Island in Color

do you have all the episode in Season 1 in Color

  • when i was little i used to feel sad for them because i thougth they was really stranded on the island ....

    rob

  • "and the rest" lmao

  • @softcorenightsxox damm they could have said the other 2 not like their was 200 more people on the island

  • @softcorenightsxox At the Christmas Gift exchange that season, Dawn Wells and Russell Johnson supposedly gave each other a gift addressed to The Rest.

  • @softcorenightsxox bob denver was the one who complained about the professor and mary anne not being in the credits. he threatened to leave the show if they didn't get billing. he didn't think it was fair.

  • @softcorenightsxox And the rest?evidenty to lazy to say the rest of there names

  • Didn't know Natalie Schafer was 63 when this show started. Her co-stars andpeople on the set didn't know her real age. Plus she didn't want close-ups on the show because of her advanced age.

  • @xxxWarriorGoddessxxx Natalie Schafer did not want close up because she was survior of breast cancer, she had her breast removed, this is the reason she did not want any close up. No one knew this at the time.

  • I remember seeing the colorized versions on TBS back a few years back, should have let it stayed B&W, damn Ted Turner!
