Does it particularly matter when people got into Nick Drake, i liked him long before the VW advert but im glad his work has been exposed to a much greater audience! I dont agree with kareemtabsh, part of the appeal is the raw voice, a polished vocal would in no way suit the message of the music; in fact it would ruin it. The argument also doesnt stand up when people like Ozzy Osbourne can sell millions of records, a good voice obviously isnt the route to being "Rich and famous"
I think Nick Drake would have been rich and famous if it weren't for his voice. Everything is perfect, but his voice is no good. Wonderful melancholy in this song!
I think he IS singing about himself and poets/artists in general. Sometimes there area a few individuals in human history that are really genius in creative regards but get passed over. I.E. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, Van Gogh and the impressionists among others. And generally artists ahead of their time or doing something that there just isn't quite a solid audience for it seems.
way ahead of its time...just beautiful, so poetic and deep, you can really feel the pain of nick drake in his music, im almost ashamed that my generation doesnt apperciate music so real and true and deep, they just dont understand and most of them never will sadly
I am saddened even more that Nick's generation never appreciated him when he was alive. I can't fathom it. His music is so moving and he couldn't sell more than 5000 albums until Volkswagen used Pink Moon in a commercial! How did we miss this?
It's absolutely rediculous. I loved him before that damn Volkswagen commercial and I always will. People would rather listen and give recognition to crap than music that actually has heart and soul. Today's music generation is twisted with some exceptions.
muy triste realidad

It's errie how accurate drake's prediction was on his own life. Read the lyrics, and your hair will stand.

yes this song itself is not only predicting his own life, but what would happen a long time afterwords...

i thought exactly the same, clearly he saw into his future, at least his tree bore fruit in the end.

La Hipersensibilidad...
Muy Pessoa, muy Géminis...
Pasar sus vidas de seres expresando casi en silencio su idea de "Sensibilidad antes que inteligencia".

Also what amazes me is that john cale played on bryter layter, you'd think any cd that he plays on people would know about.
