  • this is the dumbest fuckin thing ever take this off the internet now dick fuck shit niggerzzzz

  • @chasemetallicagibbin Super obvious troll is stupidly obvious.

  • Thanks brothers.

    Saludos desde Ecuador.

  • I really like the kill switch sound but I'm not sure about doing this because my guitar is really expensive and I don't want to risk making a mistake. So if I took my guitar to a guitar shop, would they do me up with one?

  • I can translate into Spanish the steps you did to put the killswich ... Answer me please

  • can someone tell me something.. i bought a guitar has a coil splitter for passive pickups but i put blackouts sd which are active so it doesnt work now as a coil spliter so can i change the coil splitter into a killswitch

  • will it work with a fab metal pedal on? i heard the effects dont get muted unless they come from the amp D:

  • what does the killswitch do in a guitar??

  • @paquefy mute the pickups

  • This isn't short circuiting, this is creating an open circuit when the switch is pressed since there is then infinite resistance between the switch nodes. Their method may have caused buzz when the switch was pressed, what you should do is get a 3 node selection switch and dump the depressed selection to ground.

  • I laught more than learn, isn't that good? +1 I like it and it solved my problem!

  • GASP!! I HAZ THAT SWITCH!!!

  • Shorting it huh. Not good.

  • @jma111000 It's not really shorting the guitar. What you're doing with the killswitch is dumping the signal to ground. It's not bad for the guitar or anything...

  • Soldering and drilling isn't dangerous as long as you know what you're doing. Hahaha, I'm only 16 and I've rewired my guitar twice (of course with my dad telling me what to do).

But great mod guys! Seems like fun!

  • Holy crap he sounds like Mr Garrison

  • Major help! Totally putting one on my guitar... THANKS A LOT! :D

  • hey you shoulder invet in a solder iron :)

  • how the hell did you solder the wires to the kill switch before you put it through the hole you made in the guitar?

  • hmm I want one of those on my Ibanez! could be useful for some interesting stuff in solos or melodic lines!

...and I wish my dad is still with me T_T

  • IT' ALIIIVE XD nice vid

  • did he say ibanez sg.... what the fuck

  • thanks guys, you helped me figure out how to do this mod. I installed a white kill switch to my ibanez jem :)

  • this video is my answer for installing a killswitch :)

i will do it soon ;)

thanks for the explanation on the video :D

  • só faltou alguem que saiba tocar, pra testar ela XD

  • hahahahahaha look at spencer

  • LOL that wuz efing awesome..homemade killswich..man i wana do tht

  • LOL! enjoyed the Video!

  • dude where did u purchase your killswitch at? great vieo by the way keep it up man and u can be working at guitar center haha

  • you could just turn one volume pick up all the way down and then when you switch the toggle switch boom killswitch

  • @slashman5 the hard back-and-forth of that is hard on the switch, is difficult to do with a fast, steady rhythm, and is prone to make undesirable popping sounds. I think everyone tries it that way at first.

  • im 14 fucking years old and ive been solderin for 3 years now

  • adults only lool

  • Yes, now I can play Jordan. lol I know how to play it but I needs a killswitch. Thanks for the upload fellas.

  • i wish my dad plays guitar like i do

  • i wish my dad was like that.... sadly my dad an i have nothing in common.. i like rock and metal he likes silence..

  • @jpjdo1212

fret not my friend, for your father and mine, they both have the same tastes. But, as do we, my friend. Rock on. \m/

  • have you ever heard of turning the neck pickup all the way down then flipping the switch between treble and rhythym???

  • how many people want to make tom morellos arm the homeless guitar

  • 6:00

first thing i thought: ziggy stardust.

  • its kind of a fadey kill switch. like when you press it, the sound fades in and out instead of a abrupt shut down. ...cool

  • has it occured to you guys that at some angles the father's face resembles Edward Norton?

  • lol father and son vids are so heartwarming :P

  • Wish my dad was that cool... :(

  • @trevorplaysguitar At least you got a dad lol u_u

  • I'm just afriaid im gunna kill all of my guitar...

  • I bet this is how Buckethead's father was X)

Your an awsome dad man! Please adopt me !

  • Cool dad! That's what dads should do is involve their kids and do stuff unlike mine who just did "his thing" Now get that kid ROCKIN and he'll get really good so everyone will want him in their band for lead guitarist and all the girls will be after him and he'll be famous and have his own tour bus........................ we all dream of that right?

  • there's a toggle switch and its for the PUs to switch between the bridge and the neck PU or turn on both WHY do you install a "killswitch" when there was already one?

the 4 controllers looks like: 1 for vol. neck PU, 1 vol. bridge PU, the other 2 for the tone, the toggle switch is for switching between the pick ups or turn on both PUs...

so when there are 2 vol. controller turn 1 of this off, then play a note and switch between the on an the off PU and what happens "Killswitch Morello Style"

  • @Westcliff09 Because the pickup selector switch trick will destroy the selector switch and you can't do the effect as fast.

  • @Crazymofoinamajikbox

    1. a toggle switch isn't expensive (here in Germany kost a Toggle switch 3 Way: 1,40€) and it needs long to destroy one trust me

    2. quickness isn't all without a feeling for the rythm ;)

and to exchange a toggleswitch is done in 10minutes...

  • Basically the father does all the work while the kid just watches. I'll bet he didn't learn anything. Just from my experience that usually is not very educational. *shrug*

  • You are a great father.

  • cool project, but u could also just turn the volume all the way down on 1 pickup and toggle between the 2 of them

  • alright just giving my view on the video but you guys are so fucking stupid. How about you learn how to do guitar repair and shit like that first. Never drill when pots and wires are still in the way, you could have drilled right through a wire by drilling through the front......

  • @Chaoskid276 Little boy, learn some manners. Your comment reveals too many of your own insecurities. Grow up!

  • @DrunkHound1 "little boy"? okay guy, too bad im 18. and i know what im doing with guitars. i deal with them daily so shut up. I was just giving my opinion....

  • they use the same amp i use

  • Comment removed

  • this dads rad, this kids lucky.

  • Awesome video! Congrats! It was nice to see you including your son, having fun with it and making an informative video too. wtg

  • the kid in 6:45 is trying to destroy the killswitch

  • good job making it, bad job playing jordan lol.

  • unfortunately if you were to use this particular killswitch with a valve amp you could probably damage it. think of plugging your lead in and out repeatedly with the amp on. not pretty.

  • I wish me and my dad messed with the gizmos on my guitar :(

  • i soldering and i have 14 years old

  • @auricom242 i'm 13 but i think soldering is fun^^

  • @oObrotkarstenOo

you've done this about the killswitch? lol sorry for the bad English blame it on the google translator I'm Mexican

  • Nice work.!!

  • ill give u 20 bucks

  • my guitar makes a constant humming with my kilslwitch, do you know anything about that?

  • You can do the same thing with the guitar, Turn the volume all the way down on one pickup and all the way up on the other then use the pickup selector for a kill switch.

  • I hate studying electric physics, but i LLOVE what it gives to us:P God bless it:)

  • 0:19, so scary i peed my self!!!

  • never go straight to the right size drill bit. start really small and work your way up the to right sixe hole. it could chip the paint if you go straight to it.

  • I would be so happy if that was my dad lol

  • kid learn to play jordan that sucked so bad my ears bled

  • awesome video, I added a toggleswitch instead of the one you used, but I think I'll change it with a temporary toggleswitch, it would help a lot with the control of the playing

  • You know for a long time me & my dad never really had much in common, when i was a young tennager we would just talk typical "hi, how are you doing?" stuff. never really had much of anything in common.

I picked up a guitar, and me & my dad talked about guitars and the beatles. I never felt any closer to him ever...it was a gret feeling , a small glimpse of what "having a father" felt like. My dad moved to texas but i'm glad we had that moment. Hope you guys had fun.

  • @Emceetem all u need is a guitar and The Beatles

  • hey would that work with an emg PA-2 gain boost switch as well?

  • soldering is not that dangerous :S

i did that when i was like 12 or something :P

  • its aliveeeee LOL XD

  • haha a lection for today is NEVER drill a hole if something that needs to go through it cant reach the hole... xD

  • personally i think a mimi toggle switch would work instead of a button so theres less chance of doing it by accident and looks nicer to me but awesoem video and really helpful

  • ok quick question if i took a switch that was not momentary and did this that way my guitar would have a on/off switch would it work.

  • Where did you get your "reverse kill switch?"

  • Good idea but I'd worry more about getting my kids guitar lessons

  • im planning on experimenting on my old guitar.. wana add a killswitch like this and repaint it with funny stuff xD should i use spray paints on top of the paint it has? or do i have to scrape of and then use some special paint and product to protect? i never did this before..

  • @evonai go and custom make a giant sticker and wrap it

  • nice killswitch BTW u could have turned 1 volume down and 1 up and used the rythm/lead to turn one pickup on and one off to make a k.s. but that works to! :)

  • if i'm putting a switch in the lead instead of in the wires in the guitar, can I still reverse it so wen it's down it's off and wens it released it's on? thanks

  • 1st of all, soldering is not that dangerous at all :)

2ndly, do not blow to the solder, or it will become a coldsolder... :/

not sure if its called coldsolder in english but you know what i mean ;)

  • AWESOME

  • is there a certain type of button u have to use for the killswitch? or can u just go to a store and pick out any size that u like?

  • @gtopballr It doesn't matter what size, just make sure that it is a momentary push button with 2 prongs and is normally open.

  • @gtopballr You need a normally open momentary push button with 2 prongs

  • that wud be so awesome if my dad was interested in guitar!!! fair play to you!:)

  • Teamwork!

  • shorting out the guitar is a bad idea. It ruined my volume/tone pots rendering my strat damaged beyond repair

  • @homestarrunner4742

are you saying damaged pots render a guitar beyond repair...?

    :/

  • @AhKillYu no, but my pickups were damaged as well. i replaced the pots and the 5way switch but it's still very badly damaged. buying a new guitar would be more cost efficient than replacing all the wiring

  • thats the best!

  • "its okay we'll get through this"...best dad ever!

  • @andthepartyragedon

    ...and son!

  • lol tiger woods

  • @kvant69 you are a discusting but head go away if you are gonna post like that. get a life. you are stupid. they are trying to tell you something cool. GO GET A LIFE if that is all you think about. ass

  • @monkeymanbam97 is was marked as spam...

  • how do you like it . its awesone

  • uhm... not fancy drilling.. It's basically reaming it out

  • is that a Line 6 Spider iii?

  • anyone else see sparks at 6:12 when he changes the switches? you need to look closely

  • i saw that too. that cant be a good thing

  • at first i thought it might have just been static charges, but i counted like 4 seperates sparks so that really cant be good

  • it would be asier to get a tremolo pedal

    lol

  • A tremolo pedal would't be the same. Check out how Buckethead uses a kill switch and you'll see what I mean.

  • That's such a cool project for a father and son to do! Congrats on the awesome killswitch and rock on!

  • @martinberra it really is me and my dad did it it was awesome

  • @martinberra me an my dad tried to fit one. the soldering failed and the repair cost me £70.00.

  • Cool dad

  • What is the utility???

  • lol the guitar already had a killswitch

  • it had a pickup switch, not a killswitch

  • Tom Morello uses pick up switch as a killswitch just down volume off on neck pickup then when you flick between pickups it has same effect

  • what does that have to do with my comment? i was saying that there is not a killswitch on it already as a reply to someone that said it did.

  • you cant do it nearly as fast or easily like that.

  • cuswco97, that was the pickup switch my friend. good job guys, buy your amp does have a tremolo feature... and thatcoolG is right, a pedal is easier and safer for your guitar

  • the pickup switch can also be a killswitch on les pauls or guitars with knobs for each pickup

  • If YOU had read my comment properly, I said les pauls AND guitars with knobs for each pickup

  • and dude it was an IBANEZ sg if YOU had been paying MORE ATTENTION

  • nope ibanez

  • its awesome!!!!!! 3:22

  • i envy them..wish i had a guitar like that..

  • its just an ibanez gax70 the only go for about 200 bucks

  • haha this guitar didn't need a kill switch

  • @liberalsocialist353 yeah but a killswitch is so much easier to use and doesnt ruin your element switch

  • you can also put down the volume of the other mic and use the mic selector as a killswitch. that works in les pauls and other guitars with two volume knobs.

  • great job just what i was looking for. but im planning on removing my tone knob

  • simply just a delay you have to keep on trigering and a real killswitch would kill it untill you reset the amp and guitar

  • Sounds like a pain in the ass.

  • Bucketheadftw:>

  • hey ill buy a guitar what r u guys sellin if u have some other oarts i can use ill buy them just tell me what u got

  • with a killswitch um .. $200!!!

  • nice family man ^^

  • what guitar is that btw?

  • you dident need to add a kill switch, see hows theres 4 nobs on the guitar 2s for volume and 2 for tone, turn one volume all the way down and leave the other all the way up then use the toggle switch to make the sound

  • yeah but bucket head went on with it.

  • Not as quick, and easier to break ;)

  • Hi. Obie here. I'm selling the guitar from this vid. Raising funds for Riri's 8th grade trip. Make me an offer.

  • $100

  • 10 bi-million pesos.

  • @leff4ever HI

my name is brandon ok I will buy the guitar from you but I wont buy the guitar in the vid but if you install a killswitch in a GIBSON sg I will give you 2'000 dollars for it!

  • @leff4ever still got the guitar? what Company/make is it? pics of various angles would help too.

  • @leff4ever still got the guitar?

  • @leff4ever

still got the guitar? what Company/make is it? pics of various angles would help too.

  • Its easier if you take out one volume control, and use that hole for the killswitch, that way you'll have 1 master volume, 2 tones, and the killswitch, that way you dont to have to drill your guitar

  • remove a tone knob...

    less needed

  • of cource they're needed :O

  • not really

  • theres another way you can do this.... just pull the cable out just enough to cut the signal, and go in and out repeatedly (haha.. thats what she said)

  • The copper and silver are the ground and hot

  • tom morellos killswitch way is sooooo much better!

  • It's the same as Buckethead's....

  • Comment removed

  • actually they are different tom uses the cool way but toggle switching it BH just touches a button

  • Yeah, but they basically make the same sound. They both switch between the pickups while using a wah. I do prefer pressing button over toggling a switch.

  • oh ok well thats your opinion and thats all that really matters

  • Jeez, You're making it seem like I'm arguing with you. I'm not I'm just sayin.

  • what all i said was your opinion matters to only youre self? im not trying to be a douche or anything

  • he has a beet going on for a second from jordan buckethead but it seams so dam cool
