Wow. Soviet commander one of the most humane and reasonable characters of the series? KGB political officer guy not depicted as completely unredeemable fuck? Idealistic Soviet character (usually the ones who are portrayed as the most sympathetic) is instead the hate-blinded bastard who shoots his own uncle?
@mpcp13 Don't forget, during the Missile Crisis in Cuba it was the KGB Political officer who didn't agree to fire the missile that would've started WWIII. people sorely under estimate these guys sometimes, granted there are some who would, but WiC is smarter than to just post it there as if it was predetermined.
Also if anyone watched X-Men First Class, it was the Political Officer who Xaiver made fire that missile. So yeah Marvel picked up on that too..
This reminds me of that short story "the sniper" where a man shoots his own brother during the american civil war, but it's really a metaphor: "all wars are civil wars because all men are brothers"
Orlovski was my favorite person in the entire game. I even liked him more than Sawyer. Mostly because that wen he read that letter to his wife (and the letters are not included here for some reason) it brought joy tears to my eyes, and thats an accomplishment because thats doesnt happen very often with me. I got really freakking depressed for the rest of the game after this scene.
LOL rwist ending CANADA comes in kills everything and wins the war everyones like WTF were the hell did that come from? then a canadians like your missing the "EH?"LOL
I hope Maleshenko was killed in the battle of Seattle. He was a huge ass. Lebedev (sorry if I spelled it wrong) should have shot him as he walked out of the tent. Remember what Lebedev said was a lie, he evacuated Seattle and ditched Maleshenko.
Orlovsky was a great guy. He knew what had to be done and he knew that attacking the US was a stupid idea. I know your nothing but pixels but may you rest in peace.
@Big5000K I know, but everything he did was inexcusable. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. His family's death was an accident, his attempted murder of Americans and his betrayal of Orlovsky was intentional.
We have the Soviets pursuing a course of violence on foreign land to repair their economic woes. There is a rather clear cut good and evil in this one.
actualy i didn't like the decision of the general to leave, but not for the stupid reason like malashenko, but because well those guys at Seattle really needed every man to defend themselves, and i would feel like an asshole knowing that I'm safe in my home when they where fighting in Seattle.
the general knew it was an useless battle, even if they managed to defend the city, the americans would drop another nuclear bomb, makin any defence of the dammed city worthless
he tried to save his men, and he was willing to take all responsibility
My first 10 years was during the last 10 of the cold war and my dad told me. One day the Russians will return to their old tricks and Georgia 2008 was a good example of that!
See, Lebedjev is hella smart. After Orlovsky is dead, he instantly denounces him as a traitor, and when that isn't convincing enough he proclaims: "To victory!"
Must be that experience that comes with being a political commissar.
he deserved to lose his wife and kids he actually din't deserve them at all
and malashenko would be killed instantly because of this act. IT"S ABSURD And thanks to Malashenko the red army suffered a great defeat at Seattle. Saddest scene..... I hate to see Malashenko kill his own uncle....... :(
That's bad when you will lost lives of your soldiers. But much worse if you will retry back and cover by a shame the honor of your regiment, and your soldies always will live with a status of traitors.
even if he deserved to lose them they didnt deserve to die. An innocent woman and an innnocent child? do you really think they deserve to die so Nikolaj could feel bad? well it didnt help, it only made him more blodthirsty.
I find it interesting that the Russians would allow a colonel (Orlovsky) to command something as important as the invasion of America, and also that a single ship would be enough to evacuate Soviet forces...
Orlovsky wasn't in charge of the entire invasion. He was in charge of a regiment in the invasion, and the ship was only needed to carry the 1000-3000 men under his command.
The battalion that was under Lebydyev's command could've made a deciding factor in Seattle had it been there. Could've however, and they would have been dead anyway for it.
well, from russian side it sucks cus the army lost many good men, but hey, da americans (the good guys, and yes i hate communism) got to kick some major commie arse and show that dont fuck whit
USA (and no im not american, i just hate communism so much. But not on a serius level, the funny 1)
I logged in just to tell you what an idiot you are... how could you possibly call the Americans the "good guys" no one are the good guys in war, they just fight for there own agenda, not glory.
@TriforceSlash I logged in just to tell you what an idiot you are. How can you possibly not see that Americans are the good guys, this video shows how fucked up socialism is. Not that this actually happened, but if you look at the Russians in WWII, it was the same way.
@TriforceSlash But in terms of agenda, I think theirs is a more noble pursuit, though you are right, there is no good and no bad in war, just men following orders.
@TriforceSlash So the Allied Powers of World War II (France, the UK, the US, Soviet Russia, and their allies) weren't good guys for liberating Europe from Hitler's sick plan to exterminate all non-Aryans like they were bugs?
This scene always baffled me. I'm pretty sure discipline and order hadn't broken down so much that the Captain could just shoot the CO and his little coup would fly with the other officers and the men. Its as if the only three people in the entire army were Malashenko. Orlovsky, and Lebydyev.
I hated this scene the most ... stupid malashenko ... fanaticized freak ... but I really like the tune in this video just when malashenko says :to victory and holsters his weapon ... so nice to listen to
But thats what soldiers are 'supposed' to act like.. No thinking, follow orders.. Although in real world, I doubt that anyone would act so. At least I wouldn't.

I remember that some American officer in the Pentagon informed Sawyer before the moved to Russia that they couldn't change or remove officials, because they were already being killed, suffering heavy loses in the German front. I guess that's why you can't spend so easily your officials. Maybe a militar court would have judge him after, not before, the end of the war
Perhaps legally that would be the case. But if I was operating behind enemy lines and one of my men (and an useless one) had just killed dozens of civilians I's respectfully bury the dead then either lie him up and leave him for the Soviets or tie him up a put a bullet through the back of his head if he knew too much. At least that way if any of my men were captured the Soviets probably wouldn't just shoot them out of hand in revenge. Illegal but pragmatic.
Wow. Soviet commander one of the most humane and reasonable characters of the series? KGB political officer guy not depicted as completely unredeemable fuck?
