  • 130 years after his great grandfather left the small village of Kilkelly, Co. Mayo, Peter Jones found letters sent 2 him by his father in Ireland. The letters tell of family news, births, death, sales of land and bad harvests. They remind the son, that he is loved, missed & remembered

    by his family in Ireland. The final letter informs him that his father, whom

    he has not seen for 30 years, has died, the last link with home is broken.

    Peter Jones used these letters to make this song.

  • A grand song! Reminds me of my grandfather who left Donegal to come to America in 1910. He sent money home to help his family but never did return. I've been back 5 times to Ardara Co. Donegal. Had to have been hard to leave. Looks a lot like Western Montana.
