To be honest, I really didn't like this recording. It may have been something about how it was recorded, but everything simply sounded out of tune and the trumpet sounded sloppy, lethargic, and out of tune. I don't think you should worry too much about the awful audience, considering it is a wedding and the people are there for the wedding, not to hear the music.
I am no expert but this is played so slowly that it becomes turgid. Remeber its proper title is the Prince of Denmark's March. I defy anyone to march at this tempo. pity because the soloist gets a nice tone from the trumpet.
At 0:26, when he does the "trill," aren't you supposed to triple-tongue the same note instead of pressing the valves like that? And if you are supposed to press the valves like that, how do you stay on the same note while you press them like he's doing?
He's not staying on the same note. He's doing a baroque trill, in which you start on the note a whole step above the written note, and "trill" between the starting note (the high one) and the written note. That's what a trill is. A trill has nothing to do with triple tonguing.
The only way you can write a piece like this is if you are able to walk 200 yards with a penny in your ass crack and keep it from falling out. But first you would have to secure a 2 x 4 to your back to keep you from bending at the waist. You could never make love to this much less dance to it.
I bet the audience is talking because it is probably at some party and the group was hired to perform music during it and they were preoccupied with there conversations to properly admire the music playing
I agree that the audience ruined it. Also, whoever did the recording of the video might have positioned closer to the musicians (but this is not always possible, I know).
Wynton Marsalis played this piece very well with the English Chamber Orchestra on the Gabriels Garden album. If a faster tempo and charisma is what you desire, I highly suggest this album.
I would have also loved to hear some more oomph from the trumpet, but then again I'm a trumpet player myself so I would always like that :D The guy sounds like a great player, he just needs to add some snootiness, pomp, oomph, whatever you want to call it :) In my not-so-humble opinion.
It sounds ok (If you're trying to put them to sleep.) PUT SOME OOMPH INTO IT!!! Up the tempo a bit. The trumpeter should be playing like hes proud to play this piece. Harp was good. Flute, Violes and Cello could be louder. Needs more bass. But overall very well done!

It's obviously a reception/cocktail party not a concert. The music is background not the centerpiece.

It's obviously a reception/cocktail event. Not a concert. The music is background, not the event reason.

Wow. People are very rude. When gorgeous music is being playing, or when ANY music is being shown, you shut up.
Very well done- for what you were working with. Would love to hear without the idiots talking.

Nicely done, considering the noise though.

What do you mean by "OOMPH". It seems perfectly find articulations in it... Sure, It's not fast, but it's not a kick in the balls either...

Mmm - well, each to their own, and they certainly played it well. Even so, I think I'd prefer it if they stepped on the gas a bit . . .
