I'd like to see this challenge from a stand-still. I've ran an E46 on the highway and had simliar results with my stock Jeep. But that doesn't say much, because these things are made to DIG. It's no ZR1 on the highway...

The platform of the new Jeep Grand Cherokee is designed together with Mercedes, they will use it for their new ML and even Maserati will use that platform, they tested it with the BMW X5 M, so I am sure it will have a very good roadhandling. Also the present Jeep SRT-8 has a much better roadhandling then the standard Jeep and doesn't almost hang over in curves on the highway. An other advantage of Jeep is that they don't loose oil through the exhaustpipe like almost all the old BMW's do.
Topspeed on the highway? Where can you drive that long time? Even in Germany they have lots of 100km/h zones on the highway, so you cannot drive fast a long time.. Acceleration is much more important because you can do that almost everywhere. The Jeep SRT-8 can easily be tuned, a.o. Hennessy does it untill 800. A simple tuning to 600hp already improves the acceleration of the Jeep from 0-100km/h in 3,5 sec. There is no factory BMW who does that faster then 4,7 sec, so they are quite slow.

@nielslernou So.... a V8 over an inline6 is double the capacity? The SRT-8s actually have poor tuning, M3s have phenomenal tuning and engine build up. Besides... Roll racing is for babies who can't launch. The SRT-8s an AWD SUV (not 4x4, there's a difference) and the SRT-8 should swing it from the launch every time.

I guess what people see is the ability to have a "family car" that's considered quick, like the Cayenne Turbo. But these vehicles are in their own class... Trying to race these against cars like M3s like doing apples to oranges

The platform of the new Jeep Grand Cherokee is designed together with Mercedes, they will use it for their new ML and even Maserati will use that platform, they tested it with the BMW X5 M, so I am sure it will have a very good roadhandling. Also the present Jeep SRT-8 has a much better roadhandling then the standard Jeep and doesn't almost hang over in curves on the highway. An other advantage of Jeep is that they don't loose oil through the exhaustpipe like almost all the old BMW's do.

Topspeed on the highway? Where can you drive that long time? Even in Germany they have lots of 100km/h zones on the highway, so you cannot drive fast a long time.. Acceleration is much more important because you can do that almost everywhere. The Jeep SRT-8 can easily be tuned, a.o. Hennessy does it untill 800. A simple tuning to 600hp already improves the acceleration of the Jeep from 0-100km/h in 3,5 sec. There is no factory BMW who does that faster then 4,7 sec, so they are quite slow.

Gettin a 2010 M3 upon return from Afghanistan and I know the M3 will deff win this hands down but I would also like to state that the Cherokee SRT8 is a BAMF and it will destroy many of those sorry ass sports cars the kids are drivin these days.
