To me this game is Taito's answer to Capcom selling out Japan with 1942. I always thought it was weird that 1942 was about killing Japanese pilots but it was made by Japanese. It's nice to see a game that came out at the same time period that gave the other side of the battle. I know why Capcom made 1942 they had us Americans and our money in mind. That is why Sky Destroyer never made it over here though, and Capcom knew that if they had done the same thing, we would have never seen 1942 either.

Hey that was quite the dramatic exit =P Sky Destroyer was a really fun game and addicting. That bomber plane used to scare me with the sound and cannon fire as a kid & for some reason (I still do), I keep thinking that moving thing on the island is a giant dog. lol @__@

Yes this game is awesome a true classic of taito i played this game first time in a famicom clone whit the multi cart 150 in 1, the first version of this game is the unknown version arcade whit best graphics and more animations

As long as you destroy every single red planes each level, the rapid fire will never run out. I don't know why, but if you miss only one, your plane lose the ability to fire rapidly... makes no sense at all to me!

Not that I've ever found =). A lot of games just looped, and while I've seen a number of different islands, I haven't actually figured out if this one loops or not.

Ahhhhh I love this game!!! Well done vid. Dramatic ending indeed ;) You also captured one of the best secrets, the 15,000pt shrapnel ball that sometimes appears after downing a bomber. Goes well towards 1UPs.

Some may wonder why you pulsed your fire instead of shooting steady. Well, in this game your guns can overheat and slow down dramatically, a nice touch for its day.

P.S. LOL @ dropping torpedo just before sky changes. Sunset could be imagined as a ginormous explosion :P

Indeed. Guns are cooled off at the onset of the second day from what I can tell.
