Oh I don't agree with what you said at teh end of the video. I don't think we have had a democracy in UK for many years, if we have ever had it at all. Regards. Smith
Thanks for posting this excellent video. I agree with every word of what you have said here my friend. PLEASE visit me on my channel to discuss further. Good for you. \good luck with your journalistic endeavours. Warmest regards. Smith
Please visit my election protest channel. Go to the polling station to "NOT VOTE". Make a point of voicing your dissapproval of the lack of proportional representation. Make your dissatisfaction with the two party stich-up resonant, clear and powerful. WE deserve our country to be in safer hands. Please visit my channel to join the debate. Peace. Smith
What we need to realize is that politics isn't the answer. The problems of society aren't solved by politicians and creating new laws. It's technology that solves problems. Scientists, engineers and technicians solve problems. Politicians simply create laws and the monetary system that essentially enslave people. And the most important point that people need to realize, more so than any of the other points I've made, is that change starts within. It's only a matter of choice.
@LastReplaySC welcome in the 21st century, I'm glad that Govts are loseing the trust of thier sheeple, this romantic aproach of 19th century economical beliefs and 20th century, 2 world wars and consumerism is now slowly but surley comming to a halt. this century will be about grabbing the last easy accessable resources and grabbing the cheapest slave army of workers you can get your hands on for as long as it will last.
How people can trust in systems that shit on the majority of humans on this planet and basically give a shit about you while your Voting within a corperatocracy turning fascist ,is beyond my rational of (in english not legalese, UNDERSTANDING).
As for the UK CCTV and Policeofficer ( not Police men) Corperate SOON TO BE OPEN FASCIST Govt, hOW manny more anti-terror laws do the sheeple want to UNDERSTAND or STAND UNDER
when so many of our current MPs have been shown to be so out of touch with the general public, the major political have ALL suffered.
In 1997 Blair promised "whiter than white" politics whose primary target was "education, education, education". He now stands before an enquiry justifying a potentially illegal war... and my nearest A&E is in the next COUNTY (not next town as it was when he came in). All against a backdrop of the expenses scandal - they are out of touch in a big way!
Many complain about the politicians and press, but they are no better than the people of this country deserve.
If people are more obsessed with irrelevant things like celebrity and superficial possessions than important things like science and society, and then go ahead and vote in a pack of numpies, how exactly can they complain about the fact our country is being mismanaged and they are being ripped off?
@DeltaNC If I were to stand for election, one of my policies would be that I would not stand for re-election. That way people could be asured that I am not just taking the popular decisions. In fact I'd make so many changes I'd be dissapointed if I wasn't dragged out of office!
That said, I would never stand for election. The people of this country don't deserve people like me.
I completely agree. As a topical example it disturbs me greatly when every time the LHC has been mentioned in the news recently it is always accompanied by end of the world poppycock. We need some scientists and engineers in charge for a while.
I can't recall who said it but "people would rather die than think". We are on the brink of a technological shockwave and as you say we are more interested in oxygen thief celebs than how to survive these impending technologies.
I am so disgusted with our political leadership. When oh when are we going to start looking further ahead than the next 10 mins? We are on fire and are peeing on ourselves to put it out. Instead of a visionary plan to address our challenges the politicians are looking for ways to stay in power even if that means wrecking the country in the process The zeitgeist has shifted and politicians are too slow to realise it. We are in desperate need of reasoning and intellectual honesty.
More from the science and engineering community would be a great start. Removal of non-elected peers, such as the 26 Bishops in the 2nd house. Use the internet for more effective referendums, lessen central power. Don't agree with DeltaNC on single term politicians. If someone is doing a good job then leave them be. Sort out the fundamentals, use plain speaking. Enforce human rights for all regardless of culture, history etc.
TBH if I knew the answer I'd bottle it and sell it.
Better education that we won't fix the world in 10 mins. Stop looking for the quick fix. Already we see that technology is ripping country borders apart and transforming the way we ingest knowledge. Drop RE in schools and replace it with parenting class. As medicine allows us to live longer we should think longer term.
How do we restore trust in politics? Do comment and rate this video. I read every comment and reply to most. How do you think politicians will manage to regain trust? Do YOU trust politicians and political parties? Do you vote at elections?
@pjvdixon In Australia we have a system of compulsory voting. (You must register and turn up to polling station to have your name crossed off, but you can choose not to vote afterwards). Similarly, politicians are not held in the highest esteem. As a former branch president in one of the major parties, and someone who had contact with many, I noticed the trend of people who gain office. For the main there are 2 types, the manipulators who seek power and personal gain, and the ideologues...
@JarradIRONEAGLE that the first group surrounds themselves with to achieve higher positions. I think the main problem with politics is the type of person it selects for. In order to be lured into such an office you tend to have a certain bent (very generally speaking). Until in some way the office is re-defined we'll generally attract a certain class of person (cross party).
Arab Spring reminds us who have votes and live in peace that we have taken a privilege for granted.

Problem is the honest ones are pushed aside (not getting funding and support) for people who will uphold the parties ideals first.
I really wish there was a law in the Constitution that allowed a reset.
The ability for the populace to come vote and vote out all those in power.
That way all the corruption is effectively gone and new people can come in with less opposition.
