My girlfriend mentioned rings the other night and I showed her Moissanite. We went through videos and articles. She's in love with the idea. It's going to save me (and ultimately us) thousands of dollars.
@MrXAVIERDB sucks but unless we all have a brother in law or friend in africa who can dig it up to us..there is not much we can do if we want one..business is business..so you always pay un upfee - even hefty ones..oh well..but you can shop smart and find deals..even at pawnshops..
important thing is the natural process and duration involved in the synthesis of these materials....and synthetic does not have the same value as natural...this material is good though...
Twice the fire, 10% more brilliance, all the heirloom quality, at a fraction of the cost. Seems like a no-brainer to me. People need to stop being brainwashed by the diamond industry.
@puipuni complete agree IF you cannot find a decent price diamond..Id much prefer to find a diamond because it will always hold its cost. I beleive there is only one company who has the rights to create moissanites and that is going to expire in a year or so.once others can tap in - the price of the moissainites will go down significantly...but nevertheless a beautiful gem..
I wore a CZ in my engagement ring for nearly 10 years. It's true that CZ's do get scuffed and cloudy with every day wear. I recently replaced my CZ with a Moissanite stone. We spent less than $1200 on a 2 carat princess cut stone. A diamond the same size and high quality would have cost $15K or more. Do the math. IMO Moissanite is more beautiful than a diamond and just makes sense from a money stand point.
@AK46um I know DeBeers use to hold the diamond prices high, but now diamonds have flooded the market and are a dime a dz.I got 2 diamonds 1.6ct and 1.3ct for $250.00 on eBay.H color-I1clarity.Lots of fire,no black carbon at all.Very nice. And Clark Howard even said awhile back, their really cheap now. They got too many on the market.Which is good for us.But I love moissianites. Can't go wrong. They are more expensive than diamonds right now.Go figure. Thanks for your post
I am from england uk ... And have been waiting moissanite to arrive.. And at last I am NOT dissatisfied it's a beautiful jewel..
I have studs and rings... The studs I have been wearing to work now for nearly 4yrs and they are just as if they are new. Treat with respect as a real diamond and this jewel will last a life time... It's just stunning good luck with any purchase..
If you see a mossanite under 30 power you can see it doubling strains. Mossanite near colorless are tint of green or yellow. Majority of them are modified by grayish and brownish.
I love my moissanite wedding set... it is so BIG, and BLING-BLING. I decided to get moissanite because I can more about the fire and sparkle of a jewel and will never be interested in selling. I do not compare it to a diamond, It is better to me because unless you have thousands to spend, you cannot get a diamond to sparkle the way my ring does. Plus, I would rather have my money in the bank. Moissanite is a good choice!
I belive poisonnite, or moissanite must be sold under it`s own name, not as diamonds. The trouble today is that some jeweler try to sell it as real diamonds. Here the jewel industry must be hard against themself and demand that moissonite jewellery must be sold as moissonite, not as diamonds. That is my advise
i love my moissanite diamond ring. im actually the one that sugested that i have a moissanite engagement ring. and it was soooo worth it. i get compliments and stares from it all the time. the stone is gorgouse!!!!

Moissanite still has issues with color. If you don't mind a greenish or yellowish tint, they're OK.
In terms of color-grading, moissanite is equivalent to a J, K or L diamond.
To get to a colorless (equivalent to a D) stone, you have to buy a CZ.
That's why moissanite doesn't do well in silver, white gold or platinum settings.
It especially has trouble with placed in setting next to other stones like melee diamonds or other stones that clash with the yellow-green hue.

Does it have a yellowish tint in certain lighting? I have heard that. Does your stone look exactly like a diamond?
jasonjmj 2 years ago 3
No more yellow than what a diamond in my pricerange would be! Yes, it looks exactly like a diamond.

In terms of optical properties, moissanite looks better than most diamonds.
The problem (for some) is the color. All stones have a yellowish or greenish hue - the only question is how strong.
Moissanite needs to be set by someone who knows its strengths and weaknesses. In a yellow gold, solitare setting, it can look great.
In settings with silver, white gold or platinum, it can look bad.
ALWAYS buy moissanite jewelry in person (never over the web) and make sure they take returns.

Limited Warranty ? Lame, my wife's diamond has life time warranty, and most certified diamonds are.
It looks good, still think diamonds are better. Cheers!!

diamonds is hardest mineral and only diamond can scatch a diamonds. I don't think that Moissanite is tougher than Diamonds. That's a mistatements.
