  • Hello there !

Is the urethane good to use if im casting with platsilgel 10/deadener?

And is it okay to use clay as a core, then the silicone being injected on the clay and then the urethane on the outside? Im thinking of spraying or coating the clay before the injection. Thanks!

  • @Tissefanten88 You lost me at the clay core part. Call us and we'll be able to help you better. Our website and toll free number are on the end of our videos.

  • What is the purpose of the blister keys? Also is 74-30 the kind of mold rubber?

  • @osirus5891 Yes, 74-30 is a urethane mold rubber. There is more info on that in our other videos and on our webstore. The blister keys help to align the mothermold with the flexible mold.

  • I find it so relaxing to watch craftsmen do their work.

  • It was always my understanding that paraffin wax retarded the cure time of silicone. How does the silicone hold up to the wax cup border? Do you coat it with some kind of barrier before applying the silicone? Interesting process.

  • @EscapeDesignStudios Never seen any difference in cure time with the urethane or silicone rubber that we supply.

  • is a mold like this practical for latex mask making?

  • Urethane rubber will not absorb the water out of latex so the dry time of the latex will take a long time.

  • @brickintheyard can i do this same mould making process on a sculpture made of wax?

  • Yes. This sculpture was made of wax.

  • could you make the shims of out of clay?

  • Not for this process.

  • technique d'estampage intéressante.

  • this cob-o-sil and polyfiber stuff seems to be silica based..so if one was to use it purely to re-inforce a mold that already has silicone rubber applied to it...wouldn't fine sand work too? i mean if all its doing is giving the urethane some rigidity so you can trowel it on..

  • Polyfiber is akin to cab-o-sil in that it thickens. Polyfiber is heavy so it does not suspend in the air like cab-o-sil.

  • oh!..for even that matter..what about plaster?

  • talc can work too. babypowder.

  • So wait is poly fiber like cabosil?
