I love how she ends the entrée to the pas de deux, Makarova-style, with a deep back to the audience in the Prince's arms. To me it's less the decorative and more dramatically meaningful. Rojo is like a latter-day American ballerina Cynthia Gregory - rock solid turns, plumbline balances, definitely a terre-a-terre dancer (not a jumper), with even more beautiful feet.
She's not my favourite Odile either, but Tamara is definitely my favourite dancer. With balance like that and the fact that it's Tamara, I could forgive her anything. Her balance is unequalled.
@balletnut She's not my favorite, either, but unlike Marianela Nunez, she captures that dark side of Odile instead of smiling all through each of her performances like Odile was a happy-go-lucky character (which she was not). I can connect with Tamara more than I can connect with Marianela..
I have to say she isn't my favorite "Odile" however she is so amazingly beautiful it's hard not to love her in any role she dances! Thanks for posting!
Love her tutu...and her dark hair makes her look the part of Odile too! Beautiful turns and feet!

I actually don't like Swan Lake, but Tamara Rojo is always awesome. I love her.

@ sashakeft1 - I'm in total agreement with you, I ADORE her Juliet. I was lucky enough to see that live (with Acosta) at Cov. Gdn.
I also ABSOLUTELY LOVE her in 'Manon' (again with Acosta).

@balletnut I agree with you, she's not the best Odile, but I absolutely LOVE her as Juliet!

@balletnut Her rival is probably Cojocaru. That girl has 0 gravity.
