I want to upgrade my amp to make this thing push harder. It is rated 470RMS and 1200 watt peak power. What is the highest wattage of amp i can purchase to make this thing push to its full potential without burning out?

I plan on getting a 1000 watt. Whats your opinions? thanks!

@MontageReflex read the information on the amp for rms power if it dosent tell you how much rms it puts out don't buy it. find an amp that the rms gets as close to the rms of the sub. peak power dosen't mean shit and you need to ignore peak power and just focus on rms power.

@MontageReflex Hey, when I buy amp I buy the most powerful amp I can afford tl most watts max / rms. and then turn the output of the amplifiers at least it goes to, and then turn up the volume on your CD player to where you use it to normal, so screw you gently up the output of the amplifier and listen how high you want the bass:)

@MontageReflex honestly make sure you look at the RMS power rating.. peak means nothing. you can have a sub thats 1500 peak watts and only be 200 RMS.. RMS is the only way you should look at subwoofer power. just a little note... and im not quite sure what a good amplifer would be.when i had 2 of these hooked up i was running them Bridged 2ohms on an Audiobahn 4002J amp yes.. they are not 2 ohm but mine lasted very well. they actually still work... no damage at all

@MrPlayaJose You need to run the two subs in parallel. Which means connecting positive to positive and negative to negative which will bring, two 4 ohm single voice coil subs down to 2 ohms at the amplifier. However with the amp you mentioned they will only be getting 250 watts rms each. Running the subs at 2 ohms is perfectly fine.

I owned the same exact sub and it lasted less than a year. The voice coil wasn't blown but, the spider was tearing itself apart from the cone and it started to sound like a crunching water bottle.
